Fed up with not being properly fed, some Cleveland Central High School students protested over the food served in the cafeteria.. Unfortunately, the school had other ideas and arrested two students while suspending eight others.
Here are some pictures of the alleged food.

Those are perfectly good meals endorsed by Michelle Obama.
Dont know what this is all about, but love the comment from what appears to be a policewoman who answers "you're on public grounds, you don't have no rights".
Sounded like it was an AA policewoman; she was responding to the white female student who asked if she didn't have "first amendment rights" to stand there with her sign and not saying anything.
Justice! Ain't it wonderful?
Well, if they are not going to educate these children, they could at least feed them a decent meal.
Quote of the video, “You on school grounds, you aint got no rights.” Wow!
Only now you people with kids realize what the PSS is serving your children. And many have a really nice food budget. My child made herself a ham sandwich this morning due to the sh!t on a shingle they get everyday at school. G-damn prisoners eat better ! I advise you to look on your tax bill if you own land.....they take alot to feed the kiddos but most of it goes to "leader" salaries and theft.
Blame Michelle (Mike) Obama because the shitty school lunch program is her legacy as First Lady.
Doesn't look appetizing. What are the charges? Contempt of cafeteria?
Probably most arrested for protesting a free lunch. They can bring a lunch from home!
Gotta love the AAVE used in their social media posts. My white 13 year old niece communicates with the same pidgin vernacular. She used to love reading books too so I know that she knows better.
If the food is not up to your standards, bring your lunch! As a retired Army Senior NCO, I regularly Substitute in the public school system the food is not bad. I usually pay about $2.40 for the meal of the day whenever I Sub.
The appreciated and hungry students eat and don’t complain!
The young lady using profanity need a refresher in the use of the English language. As Jerry Clower would say, “ profanity is a public display of ignorance”. My guess she should have eaten her food. She could be hungry and a little delusional.
The school staff should immediately remove the unruly students without explaining!!! There’s time for explanations when the parents arrive.
I am so sorry the young people feel the food is bad! They will be adults very soon and will miss that free food.
Only in America, where we can get something given to us and bitch about it!
Simply following the lead of the Afghan evacuee who tweeted his complaint at the quality of the nourishment we provided at our military base.
I mean, can you really blame these impressionable yutes, the , perceptive lil creatures they are, for observing that our society exalts the petulant protest du jour and putting that to practice even over such puny points as lunch.
These students have always had the option of bringing their own lunches prepared by their responsible parent(s).
Gotta love people protesting something that they 1. Don’t have to eat and 2. Is free to them.
I am not a fan of people who whine about free food, but I'd bet my tax dollars are making some already fat admins at the schools fatter while these kids are getting the shaft.
Wow, there have been two presidents since Obama and there are people who say blame Michelle Obama for the food in a school cafe in Mississippi. Please stop watching fox news and think for yourself.
Don’t want to learn, stay at home! Don’t want to eat the Cafeteria food, stay yo ass out of the cafeteria! You little ungrateful yute! The food is free!
Boy has times changed. PE and Cafeteria time, were my favorite times of the school day.
Dang, I miss those days! Now I’m older and have to pay for my food.
To all the parents that go along with this nonsense of your ungrateful kids, I’ll bet you have never been to a PTA meeting or met your child’s teacher. Just saying!
I will suggest the the teachers and the principals eat in the cafeteria at least once a week!
I guess Constitutional Law is no longer taught to these mouth breathing "police?"
I worked in the elementary school system and ate in the cafeteria daily. The food was decent.! All the little kids said thank you as they picked up their tray while going through the cafeteria line. When most kids get around the 4th and 5th grades. They forget forget basic manners and become young fools!
The blame is on some of the real young, untrained and uneducated moms and dads!
Mom and dad tell your kids the difference between bad, good and free. You get what you pay for in life.
I learned to eat what I can tolerate that’s free, and eat real good, when I get to where I can do better.
A Retired Soldier.
Only in America!
Parents, the food is free! That’s saving you money!
Have they tried the Bolivar County’s Sheriffs Bed and Breakfast Jail food! I bet they cook from scratch! A young mind is a terrible thing to waste!
Get your education, eat that free food, grow up, get a job and buy your own damn food.
3:16 ....surprising comment really. I bet you ate that "meal of the day" only because you failed to bring your own. Grown man, former military....sitting there eating pink slim nuggets and half cooked lima beans with his 8 oz milk. Yeah...right. Public school back in my day late 70's early 80's actually did quite well with servings but I have been and seen what they are serving the kids. It's bullsh!t.
Part of me wants to feel sorry for the kids, but a no is free as well. I went to HS in Neshoba County, and I always recalled the option of a salad or baked potato if the main entree was repulsive at a cost. Once I was an upperclass man we could leave campus, and eat at restaurants as long as we were back in time for class.
Kids these days will never have that option, especially if you have to sit in a drive thru line for 20 to 30 minutes. On another note, my kids are in MadCo, and I’ve never heard them complain. Must be a regional thing.
What disturbs me the most is when I was attending public school in the 1990s, we used to have reusable metal utensils and melanite trays that were steam and pressured washed. The amount of styrofoam waste is obscene.
School lunch was decent enough back then. Greasy pizzas with salad and buttered rolls with school lunch spaghetti were based and red pilled.
@3:46
I don’t watch cable news. However, school lunch reform was Michelle Obama’s most proud achievement and nobody wants to risk the ire of the MSM turning on them by reversing her legacy.
Go to class you stuck up little shits. I had way worse meals back in the day. Didn’t see any sloppy Joe’s in those pics
Those thinking this is about school lunch arent getting the memo. Yes the lunch apparently sucks, but, BIG BUT, the school should have handled the yute, not the CPD. The police damn sure shouldn't have told the kids she has no rights. That's the issue. This cop was going to prove her point.
Is this the Cleveland school that the judge screwed up for ALL the kids and parents?
" I guess Constitutional Law is no longer taught "
Yep.
Even an "introduction" to Constitutional Law hasn't been taught in pubic schools in about 40 plus years.
(Neither has Civics or the basic English language).
In 2021, Math & Science instruction are even being scaled back in the name of "equity".
And the left feigns "shock" as the USA ranks about 37 spots behind
the tiny European country of Luxembourg ... in public education.
I’m so old we actually had to PAY for our cafeteria food. Some days good, some days bad.
If lil' African American kids had been protesting the shitty food
at the Cleveland, Mississippi Public School District, there would have been a massive crash at the Grenada exit on I-55.
(CNN & MSNBC vehicles crashing into each other in the race to Cleveland, Mississippi).
" Didn’t see any sloppy Joe’s in those pics "
I love a good "Sloppy Joe" !
Too bad Trump rolled back the Michelle Obama improvements. Fruits and vegetables are a good thing no matter what Trump’s lard ass thinks.
guess they want McD's for lunch...check out facebook comments...what did that yute say at the beginning? All I got was bitches....
No wonder most Americans are obese. That food looks disgusting. I guarantee you the cafeteria workers have never had a nutrition class in their life. The probably serve the same kind of slop at home so they figure it's good enough for the children. Every photo was pure slop. You are what you eat and in this case, they're raising another classic obese Delta population.
In my day you got mystery meat, a scoop of corn, beans and a roll. On special days you got hamburgers. Of course jello or some sort of sheet cake to eat. All for .90 cents.
Does the food look appetizing? No not really. But what’s stop these brats from bringing their lunches?
How much state and federal money flows into that cafeteria for these meals and where is it going? Time for an audit.
Way too many Higher Ed PhD’s being printed. You got $18,000 a year employees making $140,000 to be administrators because they got a mail order PhD. Our community colleges have been full of them for a while.
The lovely young lady in the handcuffs reminds me of the "catch me outside girl." I see a bright future ahead.
Ha ha, went to school in the 60’s and 70’s. I remember mystery meat Monday, soy burgers, hot dogs, and spaghetti with a thin red sauce. Never thought to complain, just ate it and went to my next class. Tasted ok to me
If they can bring their own lunch,ok. However, they shouldn't being their own lunch because they have to either
video has gone missing...
You people suck.
That looks like dogs--t. I wouldn't eat it and wouldn't feed to my or anyone else's kids.
It isn't hard to prepare a decent (not lavish) meal for kids in a cafeteria. Buying in bulk allows the cost of meal prep to be lowered.
Cleveland Consolidated school should have some pride. Nutrition is important. Feed the kids a decent meal.
And if you sit around thinking kids should be fed this garbage because they are spoiled - you need help. Pray. Therapy. Something.
“I ate worse than that growing’ up and I turned out just fine.” Yeah, right. Maybe a second opinion is in order.
Speakin of Michelle, does this count as a food desert?
And is this school district under so much scrutiny for alleged segregation?
Trump revoked all of Obama's school nutrition rules.
Have any of you ate lunch at Madison County Schools lately? It’s about the same as this swill and the Dining Rooms are dirty.
How much did the taxpayer spend on that pile of crap? The dollar menu at McDonalds is healthier and tastier than that.
Get arrested protesting = Ivy League here I come.
Thank God they were white kids. If they had been any other race the justice department would be down here.
For those who grew up in Mississippi and attended K-12 here, I really pity you.
I moved here after college and have worked with a lot of schools across this state. The conditions are atrocious and the meals given to the kids are a trickle-down effect of those piss poor conditions.
I think the part that troubles me the most, is that this is an agricultural state. Why isn't there a farm-to-table partnership with school districts?
I’m having a hard time understanding the outrage here. Students and faculty ALWAYS have the choice to pack a lunch made at home. Why complain about the free meal offered at school???? Just bring your own lunch from home! It’s a simple solution. The loss of personal responsibility in today’s culture is astonishing. I am also old enough to remember actually paying for my public school lunch. Some days I packed a lunch and other days I ate the cafeteria meal. It’s easy to check the planned menu in advance and make a decision about the lunches offered at school that particular week.
As a resident in the Cleveland community, I can say that the issues are deeper than many of the responses on this feed. Our kids are our greatest resources! We encourage them to go to school, be respectful, and do their best in class! The least the adults can do is feed them a decent meal and communicate with them as if their thoughts and feelings matter! This is not the case in Cleveland! The Superintendent and School Board lead as the Taliban, operates in secrecy, and choose to be dishonest! Instead of engaging with the public, they bring in the Carter Malone Group to put lipstick on the pig! This community is broken!!! No one in power chooses to fix it! Instead, they seek to suppress the stakeholders voices! Therefore I can see it boiling over in this manner through the mind of a 14-year-old who merely wanted to be heard, not threatened! I don’t advocate any student violating school policy, but what’s the difference when the district violates its own policies then makes excuses for themselves? This Board mocked and dismissed the parents who abided by board policy by addressing the Board about our concerns! This has been going on in this district since 1954. This Board says they got an “A” from the Department of Health on August 28, 2021 as a result of a surprise inspection. They have not provided this report indicating what they say and addressed the concerns complained about! In addition, the superintendent boasted about having close to a million dollars in its Child Nutrition budget while they feed kids slop everyday, including spoiled milk, open juices, cold and hot foods in the same trays, etc. We have complained to MDE about this! Why should this district profit from money the federal government gave them to feed the children? They should not receive reimbursements for meals that are not edible! As an adult, if the food doesn’t look good, I will not eat it! Why should this be any different for our kids, our greatest resources? (Pardon any typos). For those who say kids should be grateful and be quiet, the district should not get money for subpar meals! As I says, this problem is much deeper!
Back in the day, if I brought my lunch, it was a PBJ and chips, or a baloney sandwich and pretzels, etc... If I ate in the cafeteria, it wasn't free, but it was cheap. The food had flavor, and was typically stuff that could be easily produced in bulk -- spaghetti, hamburgers, salisbury steak, pizza, tuna casserole, etc. And, the sides, usually out of a #10 can -- green beans, carrots, corn, greens, etc. I don't recall anything being fried, other than the FF with the burgers. The pictures seem to show a complete lack of care and ownership by whoever is running the lunch program.
How about just fix some decent food! Not real hard or expensive. Hire a good food services manage. Arresting this kid is over the top, fire the administration.
What about all of those meals sent home for the rest of the family to eat? Are those people complaining about the quality of the food?
And that’s when I said hold up, this ain’t avocado toast!!!
Attica!!!
The Cleveland School District has a problem with being honest with the community! They lied to BLOCK families from getting P-EBT Cards designed to feed hungry kids! It wasn’t money that took from the school, it was a totally separate program that only asked the school district to provide attendance information! They screwed that up with a lie! Why? Why would a school board member or superintendent want to deny families FOOD! No one can justify this! This spilled over to the food in the cafeteria! When we called the district out that the report was wrong, they corrected the blatant lie and added new lies! Check the facts:the report is online! As to the people who say the meals are FREE, they are not! Nothing is free! The government pays the school for these meals due to widespread poverty! My tax dollars pay the school district! The School District has shown that our students are not valued! I don’t have any kids in school now, but I want what is best for our kids. I’ve seen examples of school meals that would compare to those at Morrison’s! You don’t solve problems by putting lipstick on it! Nor do you solve a dress code violation and vulgar tongue by putting a 14-year-old in handcuffs and humiliating her in front of her peers!
Is the Carter Malone Group the Cleveland Public School's PR firm that gets paid $90,000 a year and posted a picture of someone and had the Mayors name on it? Seems CPSD was great until the feds stepped in and created a problem where there was none.
@11:10 There’s no such thing as a Sysco desert.
1. Whatever happened to parents covering the cost of their kid's lunch.
2. I'm far from an environmentalist, but that is a boatload of Styrofoam waste. Whatever happened to plates and flatware?
You boot-licking servants make me sick to my stomach. Yes the food looks like shit, yes the kids are free to bring their own lunch or simply not eat it. That’s not the goddamned point. This is a public school paid for by the taxpayers. This is public property, MY property. We have the right to protest ANYTHING we fuckin choose and the right to assemble. These kids were arrested for exercising rights.
The Cleveland School District is in a poverty-stricken area, mind you! They get millions of dollars in federal funds due to this fact! They got $20 million in ESSER ((FEDERAL COVID) funds due to poverty! All kids qualify for free meals due to poverty, not that all of the students come from poor families, but that it makes no sense to pay a cashier to collect money from 10 students when the other 500 don’t need to pay! So the federal provision allow all of the kids in the school to eat free!
But even though the meals are free, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be of quality! Parents should not have to bear the expense of a meal at school, when the meal has been provided through federal funds. If other schools can prepare meal within guidelines that kids enjoy, so can Cleveland!
The issues in Cleveland did not begin in 2016 when Judge Debra Brown consolidated the schools! But I would agree that the system is much worse, now! I take this position not because “of” the consolidation, but “through” the consolidation! The Cleveland School District conceded to set the district up however they chose. They manipulated and exploited the protocols to continue its autocracy. Everything they did was rubber-stamped by Judge Debra Brown. She underestimated who she was dealing with, and as a result, our students continue to be harmed! Now we have total chaos which will eventually lead to an insurrection if left unaddressed! The community is tired, the parents are tired, and, as you can see, the students are tired! This is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode! For the sake of our children, someone needs to act!
The Cleveland School District School Board brought in a superintendent from Jackson! Everyone was shocked considering he came from a failing system and they’ll board said they were looking for someone with a proven track record of success! This proved to be a big mistake! The new superintendent built no relationships in the community, intimidated the existing staff, and brought in a team of outsiders, who too, have established no relationships with the community! Other things happened, causing everyone to be distrustful of the superintendent and the School Board for supporting him.
So the Board brought in the Carter Malone Group to improve its image in the community! Everyone is at the point where they are distrustful of everything the Board does! The Board has $80k to pay the Carter Malone Group, but they want to charge students for maintenance to get a device even though the federal government gave them the money to do so!
The Carter Malone Group was employed to promote the Byhalia Pipeline project! This project sought to railroad the little people and promote the giants! This is exactly what the Carter Malone Group is doing in Cleveland! They need to leave! We will fight back too. That’s why there is a lot of attention given to call the long-time Cleveland mayor by another meme!
What happened to superintendents being the Public Relations representative for the district? We need a superintendent! MDE has failed our students! It’s sad!
Anyone else picture and hear Yosemite Sam when reading "September 16, 2021 at 5:25 AM"?
Look at the increase in attendance at Bayou Academy. The kid's parents care, the school district doesn't.
No one put a jolly rancher wrapper in your food. You did. The people in food services are working their behinds off trying to make sure all kids are at least fed. And in regards to the video - from there, went to school with some of these kids parents…. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I can’t believe they’re leaving Facebook comments saying “and you wonder why we all drop out?”
Back when I went to school we didn’t drop out over food. We were grateful to have a lunch no matter what it was.
When I went to that school years ago, we had seven ladies in the cafeteria cooking food and making friends with all the students. We loved them all and never complained about the food.
Now there are two there who help unload the Cysco Truck and two more who heat up whatever junk food is unloaded and shove it out like the student is Cool Hand Luke.
They always gave us an extra peanut butter cookie (fork raked) if we asked for it back then.
Connect the dots. All this shiggity started when The Federal Justice Department succeeded in tearing this district asunder after 55 years of attempting.
The 'We In Charge Now' crowd is simply stomping their feet.
"I think the part that troubles me the most, is that this is an agricultural state. Why isn't there a farm-to-table partnership with school districts?"
You say you moved here after college. Since you have no clue what our farmers produce in the Delta, let me be first to tell you: We don't eat cotton, we don't eat animal feed corn, we don't eat corn converted to alcohol for gasoline, we don't eat soybeans, hay or Milo. But, I reckon we could feed every student a plate of rice at lunch.
