I have seen this before at I55 and Northside. It didn't look right but, it didn't strike as the person being homeless, I should have known. Cops don't give rides to a gas station.

Nothing new here. JPD will take homeless folks to other areas. What about the inmate murder in Madison County? Would like to see some reporting on this.

BUSTED. This has been going on frequently for years, this is just the first time they got caught. It isn't just Ridgeland either. Most of the burbs dump their homeless in Jackson, then flee to their ivory towers and talk about what a ____hole Jackson is.

Madison PD brings panhandlers to Jackson on a regular basis - drop them off once they get south of County Line Road. I guess Ridgeland want to get them deeper into the city rather than just across the street.

They go were they are feel respected and welcome! It may be you or your child one day!

The City of Jackson has made it so panhandlers are welcome and cannot be asked to move.

Other cities understand the damage these hobos do and are simply taking them where they can run their “businesses” freely.

Yes, Lumumba and his policies are terrible. Not an argument. But the changes that Jackson made regarding the panhandlers is being done by cities all over the state in response to a recent lawsuit. Even your stucco garden will have to make those changes soon.

But other cities "understanding" the damage does not justify them carrying them across the county line and dropping them off to be someone else's problem.

Jackson needs to start returning the favor, those nice hotels in Ridge and Madison would work. Krogers and Walmart would be profitable too.

The most disturbing thing is the end of the video. Cop could have dropped her at any number of places that could have helped her, but he dropped her off in an inconspicuous place where he thought he could get away with it. He showed no concern whatsoever that she just plopped her stuff down and started walking around.

Clearly some mental illness or addiction issue at work. Dropping this person off in a random parking lot is BS. The COJ should sue for dumping the costs of dealing with this on them, and the lady should sue also. Won't win, but at least the dispatch tapes would be made public. Can't wait to hear the discussion that took place about where to dump her. Of course, the minute this video hit JJ, I'm sure the dispatch recordings "malfunctioned" as they often do.

Ridgeland doesn't have a crisis intervention team that can assist a woman in distress? If not in distress, what is the police department doing giving free rides to Jackson or anywhere for that matter? If I get hammered in Ridgeland and can't figure out my Uber app, will they give me a ride back to Jackson? What if she said she needed a ride to downtown Madison? Would he still of given her a lift? We all know he wouldn't. Ridgeland is just dumping their problems on Jackson because they think they can get away with it. This is wrong on so many levels I just don't know where to start.

If Madison County has no facilities to care for the homeless or mentally ill, the answer is to CREATE some, not pawn their problems into other municipalities.

WHEN I WAS ON THE JOB, we had the decency to take them to Warren County. Martin never complained.

Why can't we all be honest about this. She got lost on the wrong side of the county line. That happens all the time. I was driving my 93 YO Mom to Madison one day and she suddenly asked, "Son, do you have any idea where we are?" Trust ne, it happens.

So, what happened here? As I see it, a nice PoPo man ("De PoPo Man, He my friend" is a common some on Sesame Street) discovered he in emotional confusion and asked her if he could help. She responded, "I need to get to The Thai restaurant in Fondren." and he took her where she needed to go.

In my opinion, it isn't the government's responsibility to care for the homeless. Unless of course there is a mental issue involved. That responsibility rest on and with the church. The truth is the supposed church is too busy building multi-million dollar campuses, paying six and seven-figure salaries to hirelings, and countless other nonscriptural endeavors, to meet the true teachings of the scriptures. Do you think I'm judging?
The Christian Bible is very plain in its teaching concerning the needy. If you have this world's goods, see someone in need, harden your heart to not have compassion, and meet the need, how does the love of God remain in that person?

Again,there are no wholesale shelters for such people.

The protocol could have been for law enforcement to dump her into the Madison County jail.

RPD did not choose that option.

An empty parking lot anywhere is bad, but it's a much better option than that "jungle" on Hwy 51
( a mile or two south of Canton).

Check out the Madison County Detention Center when ya get chance.

Hey, the guys who has a "contact"...can you ask your guy what the department protocol is when a homeless person is removed from the streets in Ridgeland. I'm sure there is a policy. Please loop us in.

I've witnessed RPD, MPD and even JPD dropping off folks in Canton. I even asked one guy if he asked for the drop off and he stated he didn't want to come to Canton as he lived in Jackson. He was basically kidnapped.

Wonder if the ACLU will get involved. Know of no policy for "Removing" anyone from the street. I believe that can only be done on order of a Judge, not a cop, of course unless an arrest has been effected. Just driving someone out of your jurisdiction into another is also a liability issue. Can only imagine what would happen in a MVA or when Kenny's folks throw bottles, bricks and as in Jackson, 9's and 40's. How do you explain a dead person in the back seat. This isn't just a local problem. I know of people carried by different law enforcement agencies clear across the state. The woman in the photo is playing for the cameras. Welcome to America.

By all means trash the churches. The ACLU types donate so much money to the poor. This is self-evident by all the atheist organizations that work with the poor, such as Gateway Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, and Catholic Charities. No wait, those are all works of the Christian churches.

There is a long list of atheist organizations that work with the poor. I just can't think of one.

8:31 here, I'm not trashing any church, the very book these people claim to believe is doing that. You mentioned some organizations that make an effort to care for the poor and destitute. At the same time you didn't address the competition that seems to take place among various congregations as to which has the largest campus or how much their senior pastor is paid. That doesn't happen you say? You should hear some conversations. It is because of this materialism that people are being turned off by organized religion. It has become no more than a social club.

No Christian could do anything but feel for this poor lady, and hope that the can find help in the right places.

And the officer didn't load that woman up without permission. Someone above him authorized it. Maybe not through written policy, but informally.
