Election Day Thread

The Ides of voting are finally upon us.  Vote early and often today.  Consider this post to be the election day thread. Fire away.

Videos of long lines not waning as morning progresses both Rankin and Madison. My polling station in Rankin attendance is unprecedented in the 17 years I voted there.

I live in Flowood within 1 mile of three polling places. At 7:45 each had lines out of the building, through the parking lot and along the street. Even with some social distancing, these lines are extremely long. I have never seen this and I have been voting for 5 decades.

Given the magnitude of the turnout, Latriece Westbrooks may only get to vote for herself three or four times today.

Prediction: This is not the most consequential election in history and we'll all wake up in a free county tomorrow with our lives basically the same as they are today. Unfortunately, the hyperventilating and hysteria on cable news and social media will probably just keep going on as well.

Ready to see Trump in cuffs doing a perp walk out of the White House. You’re fired!!!

This is a day I’ve been waiting for. It’s a historic day and seeing democracy in action must scare the hell out of Trump and the right.

Cannot wait for the people to issue their thorough rebuke of the anti 65/ pro 65A folks. It's coming and it's going to be delicious.

Many republicans missed an opportunity to stand out from their colleagues that apparently only believe in freedom when convenient.

Any threats of looting, rioting, etc. anywhere in Mississippi after the election? I have not seen anything to suggest that is a possibility.

I live in Gluckstadt and it is taking everyone 2+ hours to vote at our precinct.

Final day of Espy Ads- PTL!

Anonymous said...

Long lines to vote because they are wiping down machines after each voter. You can thank Mississippi politicians for not allowing early voting. Backwoods nonsense

Anonymous said...

I'm ready for the tearful screamers when they call this for Trump. And afterward its time we do something legal about democrat treason.

The best single outcome for MS specifically today is a new flag. The rest of the choices, whether D or R, won't budge our "last" ranking in the economic metric scale.

Big lines at Casey School in Jackson at 11 am. At least 70 in line but moving along.
Don't let the conservatives confuse the issue on Ballot Measure 1. To Vote for 65 you need to fist vote FOR APPROVAL OF EITHER on the first part, then FOR 65 on the second part. The powers that be never thought the people would have enough signatures to put this on the ballot so they want to confuse the issue. Remember, 65A is only for TERMINALLY ILL patients. Everyone else with chronic pain can, according to our legislators, just suffer. Alcohol, just fine. Gambling, just fine. Lottery, just fine. Alleviating pain with cannabis? Ohhh Noooo. Can't have that.

1-we will not know the outcome for a few days while about 100 million early/absentee votes are counted

2-no matter who wins, the losing side will think they were cheated out of the election

3-in about 2 months, we will start to hear about 2024...

The staff of the New York Times is having an orgasm thinking about the headline they want to run tomorrow. "YOU'RE FIRED". I can guarantee that will be on the front page.

Anonymous said...

10:47 is typical of the left. They want to arrest and jail anyone who stands against them. This is why I stood in line almost two hours to vote. If the Dems win they will expand the Senate, expand the Supreme Court and squeeze our rights away.

I saw two buses from out of state unloading a bunch of rainbow haired freaks with stretched earlobes and face piercings. I've never seen Antifa in person but they sure do look like what I would imagine.

Anonymous said...

I did a write-in vote for Keith Richards. If I have to vote for someone in their 70s, it might as well be for someone that I like.

Kayne West was a close second for my vote.

Anonymous said...

Antifa will riot no matter who wins, but only in states that confiscate guns. I doubt we see much unrest in the south except in Atlanta.

Anonymous said...

Looting and rioting may happen tonight in Jackson, but I don’t think it’s election-related

@11:38 - Lock him up! Lock him up!

It took us only about 15 minutes to wait in line and vote mid-morning in rural SW Hinds County. I've never seen such a voter turnout in my nearly 50 years of voting. I'm going to watch DVDs and take a nap this afternoon. Might make Robert St John's savory cheesecake recipe. Tomorrow morning I'll turn on television and see what happened.

We have survived every presidency thus far and we will survive whoever is elected. Sheesh, people, get a grip. No, I don't think we will see race rioting in Mississippi because we - all of us, Black and White and everything else - are better than that here.

If Biden wins: Republicans will go back to work and start considering candidates for 2024.
If Trump wins: Democrats and the MSM will incite riots, claim cheating, resurrect scandals and impeachment, and try and change the rules so that they have a better chance next time, regardless of the merits of their candidate.

Anonymous said...

Funny how 11:38 fails to mention his fellow QANON buddy calling for the same thing at 11:29.

Anonymous said...

@10:43, you clearly don't know how voting works.

Anonymous said...

@11:55 - if Biden wins, Republicans will have to draft a whole platform and decide what they stand for now. Right wing Militias will attempt to kidnap more politicians and create terror in the streets. Q anon will claim pedophiles threw the election. Trump will claim he won and call for violent resistance to the fake election and his base is dumb enough to do it.

Anonymous said...

10:44 Believe what you want, but I have an unusual habit of believing what the CANDIDATES say (irrespective of what the has-been media, political hacks, etc. say) E.g., when Joe Biden himself says he's going to take away "assault weapons" and "clips with a lot of bullets," I actually believe he intends to do it. When Kamala Harris says she believes in equity, not equality (she intends to push for equal outcomes), I really believe she intends to try to make that happen.

11:55 Exactly. The buildings in multiple cities aren't being boarded up to be protected against Trump voters.......yet no one seems to see or mention the irony in that. Everyone clearly understands that any looting and rioting will only come from the "party of tolerance."

Anonymous said...

After the Democratic party restores democracy to this nation we are going to have to address the fact that the only way to prevent another Trump is reeducation camps for the conspiracy theorists and white supremacists.

Anonymous said...

Voted in Newton County this morning. I heard the lines were long when they opened, but when I got there about 8:00 there were maybe 5 people in line. I was the 89th person to vote in my precinct.

As far as the results go, I'm just praying the Republicans hold on to either the Presidency or the Senate. There is way too much pent-up anger on the Democrat side to think they will do anything reasonable if they secure everything. Bye-bye filibuster and hello every progressive idea they can try to ram through before the mid-terms in two years when people will finally see their mistake in handing the keys to the kingdom over to a single party.

@10:47- For? The crimes Biden committed that Trump was investigated for?
@10:52- This is a Constitutional REPUBLIC, not a democracy
@11:08- And? Why is it the governments job to protect YOU from a virus?
@11:28 -“I’m butthurt cause the government wouldn’t let me commit voter fraud”
@11:39- Where was this?
@12:34- Pack enough Soylent to last you a few days, commie

The stupid is strong in some of these posts.

As per Trump he has been the best president for blacks since Ole Abe. Given how racist and prejudice folks are, does this hurt Trump in Mississippi?

Anonymous said...

Who in the Republican controlled government will lead the way for early voting in Mississippi?
Today is a beautiful day standing in line for 4 hours to vote isn't that bad. If it was a rainy day most wouldn't wait outside in the elements.
We have Voter ID what's the problem, don't they want everyone to vote.

Please post immediately where the riots are. I have a car with a bad camshaft that needs to be torched for the insurance money. I can limp it there and put a Trump flag on it.

I guarantee my God Bless America tag and Blue Lives Matter stickers will insure that the insurer pays after the enraged Free Stuff crowd works themselves into a frenzy.

Thanks Be to God for Woke Child mobs burning down their own cities. And my car.

Discussion with poll worker in charge of Temp. Checks before entering building-

Me: "How many have you had come through with a fever?"
Temp. Guy: "None"
Me: "What happens if someone comes in with a fever?"
Temp. Guy: "Well, I am really not sure. We don't have protocols for that"

WTF??!! I honestly don't care if they check or not, but why slow the process further by checking everyone for fever?

Some folks don’t want a job. The gubment pays their bills. It’s not our taxes. Its just the gubment account. Why would they need Trump?

"Final day of Espy Ads- PTL!"
November 3, 2020 at 11:12 AM

I'm so sick of those! And why did his ad agency choose such OBVIOUS YANKEE ACTORS?
The dumpy blonde in the shorter commercials, is speaking in some sort of sloppy, low-class Tidewater accent (Delaware, maybe?), which could pass as "Southern". But the others, are obvious Yankees. Who does Espy think he's fooling?

Anonymous said...

I voted "no" on every item and "R" on every candidate. I feel good about my contribution to the planet now.

Anonymous said...

Voted in Ridgeland at 7:40 this morning and stood in line for an hour, but it was worth it! Everyone in line was masked up and cordial. Thanks to all the poll workers taking the time out of their day to make sure our votes are counted.

Whoever either put the ballot together or programmed the ballot scanners must have been smoking dope. IF you voted AGAINST either 65 or 65A in the one block of the ballot, there was NO reason to mark which one you WANT in the next block of the ballot. Of course if you didn't select in that block the scanner would kick out your ballot and let you know "you forgot to mark a selection somewhere" so either review your ballot and fix it or have the machine accept the ballot "as is". Of course "as is" you can only hope that "as is" is how you originally marked it. Total fail.

Election Day. It's a great day to be an American cause it's Democracy in action. Down with dictatorship and slavery. In this great nation you get to choose who screws you for the next four years! (Six counting the Senate)

What a Country!

3:06 purely intentionally confusing

And actually, if you vote no, you can still cast a vote for 65 or 65a in case the yes votes win.

Anonymous said...

@2:35 - God bless you sir.

Anonymous said...

@3:06, the point is if you vote No on 65 and 65A, but the Yes vote wins, then your choice of 65 or 65A will determine how medical MJ will be administered in Mississippi. I would prefer 65A because 65 makes it a constitutional right only governed by the language of 65. Does our constitution treat any other product like that? I don’t think so.

" Looting and rioting may happen tonight in Jackson, but I don’t think it’s election-related".

Well, the little Lord Mayor seemed to be more concerned about voter's blood sugar levels while standing in line at the polls.

I kid you not.

(The video is on WLBT or WAPT ).
He was concerned that some citizens may need to bring snacks and a camp chair "just to be safe a long line".

Even the classic SNL writers back in the 1970's couldn't think of shit that funny.

If Trump is hopefully re-elected, he will have four more years to clean up the corrupt deep state and maybe we will also see some indicted crime families.

If not, lock and load, as it going to be a very long Winter.

@12;19 - One independent group of jackasses in Michigan doesn't hold a candle to a nationwide outbreak of violence by left-funded and left-tolerated BLM and antifa domestic terrorists.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
