No thanks...all I need is another government body telling me how to run my business.

Small businesses have been starving for 2 months now. How many are dead?

"Hearings." Maybe the Leg should have stayed in session and held "hearings" a couple of months ago. Now we could have "action." People with much less prestige at Walmart-worked through, so I don't think this is anything but a fair criticism.

I'm was no Tate supporter, but there is no way this group should be leading anything now.

My business will never reopen. I am now stuck with business debt and personal debt. My only option is bankruptcy and taking a job. I was doing fine before the government mandated this shutdown to protect people who are likely already retired and should've been the only ones to shelter-in-place.

Donald Trump and Tate Reeves ruined my business.

@11:12, really, you don't want business advice from a bunch of do-nothing, self-serving politicians? Aside from any funding available, what are the reporting and regulatory requirements? Is it even worth it?

A lot of these lawyer politicians will suffer too when no one can pay their attorney fees anymore. (in my best Bob Uecker " all to hell with it! Nobody's listening anyway" voice)

Business relief should come from the feds. The money sent to the states was for Corona virus prevention, medical supplies and to replenish the coffers for what the state has already spent. That money was not intended to be a clone of what the feds are already doing.

By the way, state tax refunds are taking as long as two months due to the state's cash shortage. How do they propose to dole out relief to businesses?

How about a hearing about spending the damn BP money?

Each senator is a "small business" of sorts, with every dip of the beak.

@11:52, the Communist Party of China killed your business.....remember that.

Also - What about the legislature's last minute move to extend the filing date to July?? WTF? Most Mississippians had already filed their taxes by then anyway! Its not like that little last ditch effort would really ever amount to a "break" for us. piss ants every last one of them

OKAY JJ, How can you find out how many legislators got a PPP loan and for how much?

Anonymous said...

We need some road and bridge money. This fing state is CRUMBLING!

Notice that people who have jobs, health insurance and are able to pay their bills, (Govt. Officials), don’t have a problem telling you to not work, shut your business down. It’s better to fight a pandemic financially strong than fight it broke. The virus will probably be here 2 yrs but the financial problems our leaders have caused will last decades.

12:57 - bulls**t.

Most people had not filed their state income tax returns last week.

Most people were going to file for an AUTOMATIC extension until the federal filing date, when both their fed and state returns were due.

Check the numbers that have been released before you make your b/s bitching comments next time.

The people who scream the loudest on my FB page to keep it all shut down are government employees. Nice guaranteed gummint checks.

2:17 Didn't know you legislators were clairvoyant about what most people are going to do?"

Most people had not filed their state income tax returns last week.

How do you know?

Why don’t some of you rubes run for the legislature and share some of the keyboard wisdom with the rest of the citizenry. You bunch of dateless wonders are a drag on society. Including the chick repellent leader of this site.

5:51 - some people don't have that option, depending on where they live. As a white Republican in a 80% BVAP district, there is no sense in running for the House, and the Senate is not much better, being 60% BVAP. So - since running is not an option, might as well bitch about the stupidity that these folks spew

Why does Tate want the teachers to get an extra $1500?

What paychecks did they miss?

Anonymous said...

11:39 - Try reading or listening for a change. Clearly it has been stated multiple times by the Governor, The Speaker and The Light Governor that teachers have been spending their own money on supplies and equipment and gasoline (delivering supplies and materials and picking them up) during this 'distance learning' farce.

Teachers have bought printers, cartridges, new systems, paper and other materials for the sake of continuing the education of our young scholars sitting at home and roaming in packs.

The production of receipts might be a much better idea, but your notion that they've missed no paychecks is beside the point. They are not 'paid' to spend their family money.

" teachers have been spending their own money on supplies and equipment ".

Hell 8:02, teachers have had to that for decades.

It sucks they have to, while the superintendents and deputy superintendents continue to drain education funds.

But that's beside the point during this.

I ask the same question as 11:39 PM.

What qualifies as a small business?

Well the U.S. Senate wrote their last economic revival bill and slipped in a big tax cut for the real estate investors in the top .1%. Imagine that. Who would have ever imagined such a thing.

Oh well. They'll get around to helping those who don't quite make it to the Forbe's 500 eventually. Maybe.

If you’re in business you will start seeing Dept of Revenue letters coming in. Mine already have. They need funds. They need our help to keep it floating. Terrible how government can’t support itself and they need private sector (sarcasm).

Gunn and Dilbrack are UI experts and small business experts. That being the case, how do these two clowns propose to deal with the thousands who will decline the opportunity to return to work June first, but will choose to continue to draw Unemployment Insurance? I reckon they'll punt this one to Jackie who is already way over her head.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
