Three More Mississippi Cases

Update (2:30): A fourth case was just reported.

The Mississippi State Department of Health issued the following statement.
Today the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reports the second and third presumptive positive cases of coronavirus or COVID-19 in Mississippi. Final verification will come from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

One case is a Forrest County adult female over 65 who recently traveled to North Carolina. The patient has been hospitalized. The other case is a Forrest County adult male who recently traveled to Florida and has been self-isolating at home without hospitalization.

The first presumptive case was reported Wednesday night in an adult male from Forrest County.

“We are conducting further investigation to determine if and how these cases might be connected to the first presumptive case. At this point, that is not clear, but we are thoroughly exploring all possibilities,” said MSDH State Health Officer Thomas Dobbs, MD, MPH.

Dobbs announced Thursday that MSDH is expanding access to COVID-19 testing that will allow physicians to submit specimens to the Mississippi Public Health Laboratory or commercial labs without prior consultation with MSDH. If individuals are worried about having COVID-19, they should call their healthcare provider.

Additionally, Dobbs said the MSDH is expanding recommendations for long-term care visitors and large social gatherings.

“We know that this virus is easily spread person to person, so we recommend limiting visitations and discontinuing any group social activities in long-term care facilities,” he said.

MSDH also recommends that individuals should avoid gatherings of more than 250 people and take precautions when they are in public. Communities and organizations should take the current coronavirus situation into account in planning or canceling events.

“Stay informed of the cases in your county and surrounding counties, and maintain social distancing as practical,” said Dobbs. “Our older population and chronically ill individuals, who are especially at risk, should protect themselves by avoiding gatherings of more than 250 people.”

There is no recommendation at this time that schools should close. Complete details of the updated information and guidance are available on the MSDH website.

We will send out a weekly update of new cases as needed. For real time case updates, visit www.HealthyMS.com/covid-19.

Kingfish note: Weekly update? Weekly? Not the first time the department has been tone-deaf.  It won't be the last, either.

Gonna have nursing home riots if they take Bingo away!

Dept of Health. Why listen to them? Just another big Govt agency using all that medical science mumbo-jumbo according to the Pro Pot enlightened ones. We should VOTE on the appropriate response. Who needs doctors. The people should decide, like Helen the Housewife and Trip the Trucker or Bomgar the Brilliant. Lead us, I say, Oh Joel the Illumino. Save us from the tyrants of the science world.

Luckily the POTUS is the leading doctor in the field of infectious disease and is so straightforward and truthful with the American people. We are so blessed to have such an intelligent and calculating leader to guide us all through this. That’s the main reason we aren’t seeing any panic.

China produces 75% of all of the USA's medicine. The main reason this is all happened is because the last 5 presidents allowed for all of America's jobs and resources to be shipped to China to increase corporate profits. If American's interests had been prioritized over corporate profits (ergo their campaign contributions), we wouldn't be in this situation. America is going to learn to take care of itself first, or die by a thousand cuts.

So there is some vaccine China produces that is being withheld from us? If only we produced it, we wouldn't have this problem, right?

1238, granted your Socialist agenda fits Bernie's other loyalists pretty good, but please explain to us how a President "allowed" a private company to do anything. These companies, stockholder owned and very likely held in your PERS account, make business decisions on where to produce their products. Our last five Presidents that you blame have no power to stop any private company from operating in any manner as long as it is legal - which foreign trade is at this point in our history.

And - as KF asked - what vaccine is being produced in China that could affect this virus? They have something in hand that you think would allow us to put a stop to the virus? Pray please tell us - I'm sure that there are some B-52s on standby that could make the journey across the Pacific to pick up a shitload right away if only the CDC were aware of this knowledge that you have.

If we were independent of other countries for everything except luxuries, then yes KF - we would be better prepared. Diseases come and go, but in 2020 there is ZERO excuse for not being better prepared to take care of ourselves.

@Kingfish
It was on Drudge yesterday. Chinese media reported that if the Chinese people need a medicine they will prioritize their needs before exporting medicine to the USA Japan, and Europe.

11:54 Hey Bruce!

Why can’t we test more people. 40ish tests in total for the state? What about the cases at Kessler and Memorial on the coast? We know they have it. We know officials know. Why is there no mention of them?

11:54 - Chill out Bro. Go to the fridge and have a corona. Science is not the enemy. Science gave us distilled liquor and a means to turn lead to gold. When I wear my star and comet studded cape and point hat, I immediately get smarter.

Without Science, you would throw an apple into the air and it would never fall back to the ground.

60 - 90 year olds comprise all the dead people in Italy.

So fox is about to lose 2/3 of its audience.

1:56 you are wrong about science giving us distilled liquor, that was Popcorn Sutton!

1/3 of us are going to die within the next month. If I die from Coronavirus my gravestone will blame Donald Trump.

I'm still perplexed about the run on toilet paper

????

Hell, this is not a diarrhea outbreak.

At least my brand, (Charmin Ultra soft) is still readily available.

Granted, it's a few cents more than the COSTCO brand, but I guess the proletariat wants to save money too.

Four patients now in MS. Location/details of #4 have not been announced.

The run on toilet paper is hilarious. What you want during the apocalypse are nice juicy tender wet wipes for the cleanest
bottom.

For your food stockpile get potatoes, leeks, turnips, carrots, and onions. Buy foods that will sprout if you dont eat them fast enough. Because you can turn 2 sprouting potatoes/leeks/carrots into a new crop and keep your family alive with a backyard garden!

Finally, I live in the city and there is abundant food in the trees. I have a high powered pellet rifle to harvest squirrels and birds.

Now I dont recommend raiding homes and killing and stealing. But you can do a community service by burying your neighbors who succumb to the virus. You can reward your civil services by helping yourself to their stockpile. Obviously they won't need it anymore.

As a baby boomer I demand that millenials accept trillions in new national debt to stop the spread of Covid-19.

I am entitled to be protected from cold war era germ warfare projects that my generation developed to fight communism prior to your birth.

I know you all can afford it. None of you have home mortgages to pay or children of your own to raise (your furbabies don't count)

Just suck it up and buy less avocado toast!

So fox is about to lose 2/3 of its audience.

Which would still leave them with a larger audience than the fake newsers. Buy ammo, ASAP.

@3:05, The TP hoarding is an easy explanation. When liberals google "how to prep" the results are 2 billion articles discussing SHTF.

They interpret shit hits the fan as a poopoo-apocalypse and prepare accordingly.

What do you think liberals would do, actually buy guns? lol

Do you booger eaters actually believe you live among leftists? Jesus.

This here thread is the best. I can't stay up late enough for the comedy shows. Thanks for allowing the discussion to continue. I've learned a lot.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
