The funniest thing in MS politics is Tate reaching out to Chris McDaniel for his endorsement to get the ill-informed/redneck vote. They have been lighting up facebook with misinformation since then. McDaniel is looking for any sign of political relevance in this state and is bowing down to the establishment he once preached against. Chris McDaniel is now on the same team and Tate, Phil, Haley, and the others. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. What a joke and spineless move. He doesn't dare tell his followers that Waller isn't increasing taxes and that it is a tax swap.

I'm impressed by the number and resumes of many supporting Waller---QUESTION--aren't these the SAME people that have been responsible for guiding the Ship of the State of Mississippi for the last 50 or so years? Is the angst of the Ms establishment re Tate similar to the hatred the NATIONAL establishment has for Trump?

Sent in my second contribution to the Waller campaign last week. It wasn't much but we all do what we can do.

I will spend a nickle a gallon for a gas tax increase. Think about it, that's $1 a week on a gas fill up or $4 a month or just say $50 a year. That's a lot less that a front end alignment each year. I just want the money to go in a special find that the legislature can't touch. That's always been our problem. Tate looks like Elmer Fudd and he might possible lose to Jim Hood.

My family and I are voting for Waller. Tate is the Republican version of Hillary Clinton by promoting "pay to play" politics. Plus, Reeves's negative TV commercials filled with lies and half-truths are too much to stomach. Reeves must be very worried to spend the amount of money that he has spent since the primary election. Waller has run a positive campaign.

The gas tax should be increased. It is how roads are built and paid by anyone traveling our roads, including out of state travelers and trucks. The funds cannot be touched by legislature. I do understand being a fiscal conservative but I am a business person and know if you do not maintain your assets such as real estate today you will spend multiples more repairing it in the future. The roads in this state are the arteries of commerce and if we don’t maintain them there will not be businesses to keep our educated people working. Tate has been in a very powerful position and has done very little except wait for his term as Governor.

I’m voting for Tate tomorrow for the same reason I voted for him three weeks ago: because he understands that being a conservative means not growing government. There are many things that are needed here. Roads and health care are two prominent ones and they won't be fixed by our becoming turtles and withdrawal into our shells. Reeves best facet seems to be his allegedly ambitious wife.

If Waller survives tomorrow, he will probably be elected over Hood, who has a slick affect but seems as inert and unproductive as Reeves.
If Reeves wins, it might be more of a toss up as to the final election.

Very telling that Tate was the ONLY runoff candidate to skip the Republican forum last night in his home area. He sent his wife instead, who merely recited her desperate passive-aggressive letter sent to the Junior League database last week. Tate has zero to offer for our state. That’s why he can only attack others- he has nothing to show. Chief Justice Waller has demonstrated over and over again that he has the temperament, intellect, and attitude to move this state forward. So thankful he chose the high road and didn’t go negative, because you can bet there is a lot out there about Tate that he could have used. My vote and everyone I’ve talked to- from the coast to north MS, is going to Waller.

Tate lies when he says a 5 cent gasoline hike will cost the average family $500 a year. American drivers consume an average of 656 gallons of gasoline a year each. If tax on gasoline was raised 5 cents, it would cost the typical driver $32.80 annually. That would be about $65 a year for two drivers in a family. Let’s double the average for those who drive more. So, now you have $130 a year for a two driver family.

For a family to pay $500 extra a year because of a 5 cent per gallon tax increase, that family would have to buy 10,000 gallons of gasoline a year. At 20 miles a gallon, that family would have to drive 200,000 miles a year in order to pay an extra $500 a year in gasoline tax.

Wake up, folks. Tate is not truthful.

As an engineer, I hope Waller wins. If Tate wins, I will have to move to Texas or another gas tax state for the next 8 years, until MS decides it’s time to fix our roads and bridges.

@6:45 a.m. I think Tate is taking all the gas tax revenue, including that paid by businesses, and then applying it to Mississippi families under the theory that all additional expenses of the business will be passed on to its customers.

Personally I'm voting for Waller because Tate just can't come across as clear and competent. He's got some ideas but just can't seem to make them into a decent platform with a relatable goal of making Mississippi better.

The governor, in the general election, has to win the popular vote AND a majority of the vote in a majority of the state house districts (122). See Miss. Const. Art. 5, sec. 140.

I know General Waller well. Tate's entire campaign premise is that we don't need to change anything in a State that is statistically last in every meaningful category. You only need to drive our roads, go to our hospitals, or go to our schools to realize we desperately need change.

We aren't going to lose our "conservative values" to Californians by voting for a gas tax, and it doesn't make you a liberal Democrat to vote for Medicaid expansion. Our own Republican Vice President supported Medicaid expansion in Indiana, and no one has ever accused Mike Pence of being a Democrat.

I'm voting Waller today, and if Tate wins, I'll be voting Hood in November. It's time for things to change.

Tate wants to tout his record in politics, but his record is one of failure.

But it's never Tate's fault.

In the FY17 budget, Tate as Lt. Governor blamed a staff error for miscalculating the general fund, leaving the state $56.8 million short.

In FY19, Tate blamed MDE when the teacher pay raise came in $14 million short because it didn't include all teachers.

And that doesn't include his $2 million personal road project that MDOT determined was entirely unnecessary and was pushed ahead by pressure from Reeves's office.

But what Tate did accomplish was a massive tax cut at a time when hundreds upon hundreds of Mississippi bridges were permanently closed because they failed to meet government standards.

I do not agree with everything Waller has said but if I were in a crisis situation (say disaster or the like) and I had to have Reeves or Waller next to me, I would choose Waller. Just got back from voting and it was a steady crowd. Maybe the turnout will be higher than expected.

I'm voting Waller today, and if Tate wins, I'll be voting Hood in November.

I unfortunately do not know many people around this state on that level, but I do know the records of the current candidates. I'm neither R or D. Since these two parties dominate the landscape of politics, they need to find, within their own houses, candidates that are worthwhile for the whole of the entire state.
