Murder & kidnapping suspect is a jailer

Update: JJ Confirmed Andre did show up to work this week.  Lock 'em up on weekdays, help 'em out on weekends.

MDOC issued the following press release on soljah boy:

JACKSON   -    Corrections Commissioner Marshall Fisher today approved immediate suspension without pay of a correctional officer charged in a kidnapping, armed robbery and homicide that occurred in Jackson on Saturday morning.

Fisher learned after Andre Kennedy’s arrest Tuesday that Kennedy is one of 520 officers working at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.  Kennedy, 22, was hired in January 2014.  He is charged with capital murder, robbery and kidnapping in a case involving an Eastover homeowner.

All state service employees who pass the probation period must receive due process, based on state policy.

“We are in the process of implementing new hiring policies, including the use of polygraphs,” Fisher said. “Although polygraphs are not foolproof, they are an excellent screening tool in the hiring process.”

Again, the gangs run the jail system in this State. This guy might as well be going to a retirement home.

Seems as if Andre fell in with the wrong crowd. Oh well, he will have a lot of time on his hands to think about it.

With what they pay Correction Officers I am not surprised he needed extra money.

Radio Transmission: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over. A Guard recruiter, too???? Would seem chancy to be using dope if that's what's behind this. The State of Mississippi has some important personnel actions to take care of, it seems.

What a total DUMB ASS. Well, at least his steady job has prepared him for the transition to a long life in prison. DUMB ASS!
Just schedule his due process hearing. Somehow I think he can be counted on to be unavailable and a no show.
Do they teach the Queen's English in prison as a foreign language?

How many corrupt law enforcement have been arrested this year in Jackson? Unreal. Hope they take this guy out back like Old Yeller if he's found guilty.

Take him out back like Old Yeller

1:38 pm: Yes, they do. "Now repeat after me, Andre, this time more distinctly: 'The rain in Spain falls mostly in the plain!'"

Anonymous said...

You cannot make this stuff up. I'm dumbfounded. Dovetails with the other post about how gangs are prevalent in the military now.

SAD STUFF -- how do you overcome this………no clue! Until we're ready to overcome the PC junk, we're stuck with this type of behavior over and over. We have to be prepared to stand up and I'm worried about how many "stand up guys" there are left out there.

It will be interesting to see the tipping point in our society…….what will cause that remains to be seen, but appears we're hurtling toward a train wreck of major magnitude.

He better have been nice to the inhabitants or he will pay dearly...

Well, at least he should know the drill and can skip the new prisoner orientation.

I am sure Chris Epps created the right organizational culture
up and down,

My first reaction to Andre being a jailer is that he probably is hated by the inmates, then I realize he probably partnered with most of them.

2:34 -- Probably related to a lot of them!!!!

Is MDOC a kind of half-way house to prison? Kinda like Oxford House on the way out?

Anonymous said...

In what has to be on the short list of "Best Laws We Have", he is now charged with capital murder of his bro' even though he didn't shoot him. Just being involved in the crime that lead to a murder is sufficient. Might be the ultimate in irony. Sad, and another wasted life, but put him away.

This is the caliber of people you get when you recruit prison guards --and in some areas, police-- in Mississippi. The bottom of our wage scale is inhabited by really lousy, useless, amoral people -- much moreso than other areas of the country where I've worked and hired.

This is a big reason why we can't get skilled manufacturing jobs to move here. The bottom 20% generally are people who lack the ability or ambition to be anywhere else or do anything else. Theft is common, training is damn near impossible, and you have to micromanage them like preschoolers. It's a good day when you don't have to break up a fistfight.

He will be more popular in jail than the homecoming queen the weekend before the election

We need to stop the government job to prison pipeline!

I certainly am glad this man is being charged with murder. However in response to 3:23 comments I'd like to ask him how he would survive on 7.25 an hour. Your comments on the "bottom" 20% are not correct. I was there at one time and I worked very hard to get into the position I'm in now. I m not excusing this one man's actions , they were quite horrible. What I'm saying is the government needs to invest more into employees. Pitiful wages for such important jobs.

Sushi My Ass said...

Fisher's bullshit diversionary comment about a lie detector test is just that. Bullshit. You pay people two bucks above minimum wage to work in a prison and you get jackoffs. Period. He might also consider drug testing all the exempt employees working in the downtown empire office.

Anonymous said...

Government 'investing' more is code for government needs to increase taxes on the rest of the regular folk. When I see a reduction in waste and overhead, and don't tell me it doesn't exist, then I'll consider additional 'investment'.

A polygraph is only as good as the last polygraph. You would have to give all of them a polygraph each month. Starting at the top. Maybe we need to consider returning to the Trusty Shooter System. A lot less expensive and since the guards appear to be more convict than guard it is definitely resembling the old system. Problem is the current "trusty shooter" is getting a paycheck and preying on the locals.

And MDOC is just the tip of the iceberg of state agencies that do minimal background checks.

WHAT HORSE-SHIT! Mississippi has been a magnet for industrial jobs for at least 40 years. Your mental-midget comments about theft, fist fights, inability to train and lack of ability are evidence that you talk out of your ass.

We have NO lack of ability to attract industry or populate existing jobs. Thugs who have no desire to do anything but jack and steal is an entirely different reality.

8:57 -- I"m not 3:23 but I do have to defend his or her comments.

Read about pre-NAFTA in Mississippi -- we did have smaller plants, and industrial jobs (albeit small companies) in the Delta and other parts of Mississippi -- they're GONE ----- don't exist. We're not recreating them anywhere in the state. Name 10 small plants that have been created and are up and running in the past 10 years……I don't think he's "talking out of his ass".

Statistics do not support that we're brimming over with industrial jobs that were created in the past 40 years. We have a few large plants (automobile) in nature, but we're no longer manufacturing much of anything in this state. Also -- check the states around us --- Alabama knows how to attract industry, as does Tennessee. They understand that you provide a workforce through high school and community college systems that support the needs of industry -- then they have a ready made work force with skills to support their industry.

I fear that African American Studies as a major, or Underwater Basket Weaving, do not bring in the types of Industries we need. Until we're ready to revisit what it takes to truly manufacture -- we're sunk. NAFTA was just the death knell. Now…….I"m sure you'll continue your angry, obscene rant……we're ready.

I know him personally and I am still completely in shock. I feel the capital murder charge should be dropped but he should go to jail for the 2 crimes he did commit. And to those calling him a dumbass, let me tell you that he isn't a dumbass. But he has made dumbass choices that he has to live with as well as his daughter.

@10:47 I submit to you that people who do what he did are dumbasses. Normal folks don't do shit like that.

6:54 you get what you pay for. You are not "regular" folk. Regular folk work their asses off for what they have. You apparently sit in an office and point out thAt the labor workers are beneath you.

Invoking NAFTA Is A Red Herring said...

9:39; You obviously know very little about manufacturing in this state. 8:57 here again.

Although you are correct in that we have attracted hundreds of 'plants' and many of them have closed or left, there are still many that keep the economic engine running in communities all over this state.

Rather than bore you with a list and have you claim I made it up, I'll just let you get ahold of a 'manufacturers directory' or call the Mississippi Manufacturer's Association.

You may also want to visit with the director of any of the Community College Industrial Training and Development Departments. There's one on every campus that not only trains for entry level jobs but is busy, busy helping industry provide retraining and upgrade training for existing industry and current employees. It's going on everywhere. Check it out.

Sorry if this post disappoints you. I do tend to get angry when I see ignorance. Anger subsides. Ignorance does not.

Sadly, this speaks volumes. I love Mississippi -- but if what you say is true -- then we have ALL the wrong people in charge and none of it is working.

Anonymous said...

Thank you, 7:49, for succinctly and completely refuting the ignorant statements made by 6:45.

I was going to point out:

1) We have the highest unemployment rate of all 50 states.

2) We have the lowest average wages of all 50 states.

It is hardly the blue-collar paradise that 6:45 is fantasizing about. He should get out of the state once in a while to see how workers in other states are doing (not well, but better than here by a long shot).

Um, ok. So two people who had jobs saw fit to rob and kidnap a man and allude to raping his wife...before their intended victim let the air out of one of them.

Are you saying that if they made a higher hourly wage they WOULDN’T have done what they did?

Is that you, Mr. Obama?

Anonymous said...

9;35 -- Not 8:51 but I believe this response was to 8:57 earlier who was responding to 3:23 -- 3:23 brought in the fact that we're dead last so many times because of people like this guy, and it appears as the owner of a manufacturing facility, he succinctly outlined all his issues with the likes of Mr. Kennedy (et.al.).

The point was that we see issues within our state (jobs and employment being one of them) based on the caliber of people we have like Mr. Kennedy. It's an "INTEGRITY" thing not a lack of opportunity thing.

That was the connection, and not speaking for 8:51, it appears he was attempting to support the earlier argument of 3:23 that we have scum in the lower 20% of our society, who cannot even hold or work a job………so with that said, I believe he would NOT be Mr. Obama but a LOT to the right of him. Read the postings for clarity and you'll see the connections.

Invoking NAFTA Is A Red Herring said...

No; Mississippi does not have the highest unemployment rate in the nation. Check Nevada and D.C.

No, Mississippi does not pay the lowest wages in the nation. Figures can lie and liars always figure.

The discussion turned to the existence of manufacturing jobs. You attempt now to turn it to unemployment and wages, the three of which are not connected for purposes of this discussion. As I said, get a copy of The Manufacturer's Directory instead of spouting off talking points you found in an email or some website. You might also call the DES for data identifying jobs by industrial classification.

While government mandates, rules, laws and intervention/stifling oversite have caused a serious decline in manufacturing in this country, jobs do still exist.

In any serious study of crime, blight, inhumanity and sloth, you will find COMMON DENOMINATORS, but none of those is CAUSED by lack of manufacturing jobs or wages. I'm afraid people who think like you think have the causes transposed. Think about that.

While I'm sure you'd love to turn the discussion of punks on the streets to a platform for higher wages, unionization and more entitlements (so people don't have to do stupid shit for a living), but, you won't succeed.

6:32 -- You are very confused. I own a company, I pay wages, and taxes (sadly LOTS of them), and at the end of the day work both in Mississippi and outside Mississippi. I have a broader view of what our state faces, what our strengths are and what our weaknesses are, than I fear you do because you are unwilling to expand your horizons. You tend to speak in an Echo Chamber, I am certain with others just like you, who have never owned a business, never paid a wage, never had to worry that the checks are signed, direct deposits are forthcoming, or that people's families are fed, etc. The old saying is, 'I sign the from of the checks, not the back". We face an uphill battle in this state, because people like you, refuse to acknowledge the issues, and work to change them. I have thought many times about moving my company to a state that was more friendly to business. I have not moved because I love Mississippi, and have roots here. Trust me, I understand the difference in statistics that I FACE every day, and those that are fluff, and made up. I challenge you to rethink your position. You sound like a government worker, intent on supporting their own position, and touting success, first developing the end result, and then finding facts to support it. I'll let you have the last word, because to be quite honest, I need to go back, and focus on ensuring people get paid, revenue flows, and we keep families fed, who work for us. I"m sure you'll come up with some type of rebuttal, and if it makes you feel better, to have the last word -- then so be it.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
