It appears the Nissan Titan is going the way of the Edsel. The Car Connection website reported:
The Nissan Titan will meet the end of the road in the summer of 2024. Nissan confirmed over the weekend that production of its full-size pickup truck ends next year as the brand transitions to electric vehicles.
“Production of the Nissan Titan is scheduled to end summer 2024 at our Canton plant in Mississippi," Nissan VP of communications Brian Brockman said in a statement. Under Nissan’s Ambition 2030 vision of an electrified future, we are accelerating the process of transforming the Canton plant with the latest in EV manufacturing technology. This will support production of two all-new, all-electric vehicles. There will be no workforce reductions due to this action."
One of those electric vehicles will be a Nissan, the other an Infiniti, based on a last year's product tease.
Here is a different take on the Titan's failure.

Question for the masses. We've had an unprecedented run of 100+ degree days as of late. With an already strained power system, how would large scale charging of EV's impact said electrical grid? I can't see the EV's replacing fossil fueled vehicles completely, especially your more rural states like Mississippi. There is most likely some tax incentives for Nissan to make this move.
Amazing the number of corporate executives who are drinking the Biden Kool-Aid.
I read somewhere that the Nissan Titan was the most un dependable automobile made in the USA. At least they are saying (?) there will be few if any jobs lost at the Canton plant.
Buy one of Elon Musk's Cybertrucks. It's getting a lot of PR in the media.
Whether we like it or not, the future is going to be electric vehicles.
Will this signal the return to Canton of the Gentleman-Senator from Vermont?
This push to electric will be and is a colossal mistake. Take care of your current ICE vehicles folks, it’s gonna be like Cuba before it’s over.
Whether we like it or not, the future is going to be electric vehicles.
Civil war will come first.
Purchase weapons, keep the ones you already own clean and operating, buy as much ammo as you can afford on a monthly basis.
@8:34 AM, as well as your appliances.
I’m still driving my 250K+ mile Nissan Xterra and it shows no signs of dying any time soon. However, it was made in Smyrna, TN and not a third world shithole like Canton. A factory where Nissan employees are lazy af and steal and swap parts.
8:13
It has been hot but it is far from unprecedented. Jackson has had 14-15 days of 100+ temps this year. According to weather.gov jackson has had 10 yrs with at least 20 days of 100 degree temps. The record is 46 days in 1902!! I guess we had way too many cars, or cows, or 18 wheelers, or people back then. Hottest temperature ever recorded in MS is 115 degrees in 1930 in Holly Springs. Way too much CO2 back then.
8:42 - before all that they should lose weight and be healthy (if not already). A fat man army has never been tested for a reason.
@8:42
You aren’t as smart as you think you are.
A better investment is in drone parts.
You want to have a defensive and offensive swarm.
When SHTF, my armed drones will be my personal army.
Thank GOD Toyota isn’t buying into this insanity. That new Prius Prime is stylish and satisfies the leftist climate cult while also having a a good Toyota ICE and transmission!
I can be under the radar of the big brother climate nutjobs and know this thing will easily get 300,000 miles with regular synthetic oil changes!
Hybrids make a lot more sense. They cut down on emissions and we can stretch the minerals used to make batteries to far more cars. Overall, the CO2 reduction will be more.
You think it’s hot now, go back and loot at the temps in the 1930s.
I would of considered a Titan but Nissan doesn't offer it with an 8 foot bed so I went with a Tundra.
Not trying to funny but I still don't know anyone who works at that plant.
The exaggeration of current weather as unprecedented is always amusing. Or when someone claims a certain event is the worst of all time.
Those people are as gullible as the ones who believe that Delbert Hosemann is a conservative Republican.
@9:01 My god the mental gymnastics to type that out. Prius used to be the "tree hugger" special. Now you are passing it off as "under the radar".
"It's cool now guys. I'm doing it."
Hybrids are great. You don't have to be embarrassed and try to justify it.
I agree with 9:13 - been way too hot to loot.
I drive a gasoline powered vehicle and really don't give a shit one way or the other as long as it gets me to and from work. I ll ride in a car with an internal combustion engine, or what is tantamount to a giant golf cart, it doesn't bother me either way. That being said, the argument that we don't have the infrastructure to support electric vehicles is asinine. We need to create the infastructure and that would never happen without ruffling a few feathers. We had to create the infrastructure once upon a time to support the vehicles we drive today in the form of roads, gas stations, on and on. We may bitch and moan but this change is here and we may as well lean into it.
I would buy an electric truck if I could my camper with it. As of right now I would get to Vicksburg and have to stop and charge the thing up.
@9:41
The previous versions of the Prius are fugly and slow.
I currently drive a turbocharged Japanese hatchback with a manual gearbox that gets 40mpg and is actually fun to drive.
I don’t know why you are projecting so hard.
You aren’t some insightful genius.
Great vid on YouTube by 2 truck guys top 5 reasons it could have a success and top 5 reasons it failed. Canton mentioned as build point a few time.
Thank you, 9:45. The horsewhip and buggy people will resist change till they die.
Our 2100+ square foot house, built in 1960, is all electric. After upgrading to new energy efficient windows last winter, our highest electric bill so far this year was $200 in July, in the midst of the heat wave. We also got the tax benefit from the Inflation Reduction Act for the windows, too. Nice.
Burning fossil fuel to generate electricity to charge electric vehicles, yep keep drinking the democratic kool aid.
9:45 how many engines have you had to replace? I'm betting none. EVs need a battery replacement every 4 to 5 years, if not sooner. EV batteries start at about $20k and go up from there.
@9:41
Climate cultists will ruin your life and career. They will even let hundreds of people die and billions of dollars in property burn. Just as what happened in Maui when some woke fruitcake Hawaiian official withheld water in the name of “equity” that couldn’t stopped the wildfires and protect life and property
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/woke-hawaiian-official-stalled-release-revered-water-until-it-was-too-late-save-maui
Don’t try to pretend that this cult of madness isn’t super dangerous and destructive!
8:56 & 9:30 I was 8:13 and was not making a global warming post. I agree, it has been hot before and its more cyclical than global warming. That was not the intention of my post. I am 40. I have lived in MS my whole life. I have experienced multiple hot summers. Several with several day runs in the 100's or index's in the 100's, but not this many including what is forecasted starting tomorrow. To me, and most likely you unless you lived in the early 1900's, you have not experienced a summer as hot as this one here. But, again, you totally missed the point of my post. We are talking infrastructure and high temps. They didn't have that in the early 1900's like we do today.
There has also been an underwater volcano spewing large amounts of water vapor into the atmosphere.
The folks that I've known from the Nissan plant have said that they rank at the bottom of their facilities in quality.
I just spent a few days traveling with a colleague in a Tesla 3. What a royal pain in the ass. You may start with a full charge at the beginning, but then tend to run at <50% charge for much of the journey, periodically adding charge when it's convenient, so you can get to your next waypoint. In-between, you're hunting for the next charging station while hoping that you have an adapter that works with it.
No thanks. Does not suit my needs. First, give up your 'Vette, Joe.
At the dawn of the automobile era, there were gasoline-, electric-, even steam-powered models available. The market sorted that out. Without government interference, the market would be able to sort it out again.
"Who is John Galt?"
@11:16
No unhinged leftist climate cultist has ever watch Jay Leno’s garage or also they would know this.
And Elon Musk ran an excellent grift on Obama to help Tesla “fake it till he made it” and the Reddit hivemind has really helped keep the stock price up too.
Seems that govt and business have merged, and common sense is in bankruptcy.
8:13, you won’t have to worry about charging your car in those circumstances because that’s when the lockdowns will be implemented. The strain on the grid will be lowered with the provider’s access to smart thermostats and if that doesn’t work a few rolling blackouts should help. Won’t have to worry about keeping the meat in the freezer cold since it will be bugs and a few veggies for us common folks.
10:39
I did not miss your point. I just hate it when people say this is unprecedented, or hottest ever, or never been this hot. Because that is a lie. Unfortunately most people will just believe the lie and never look for the facts.
Also, if you have really lived in MS for 40 years and dont remember any summers this hot, then you have a really short memory, or didn’t go outside very much.
Nissan needs to figure out how their EVs will be charged, and the Feds need to step and mandate a ubiquitous plug in.
Do people charge their EV's in their garage or outside ?
While the cost to replace a battery in a hybrid vehicle is less than a full EV, it will still make you sick at the cost. The cost varies greatly depending on the size of the car, but with the labor costs included you will not be happy. I know a few people that chose to trade the car in rather than replace the hybrid battery.
Dumb - Just dumb corporate decision.
I could have predicted that some moron would blame this profit- driven, corporate decision on a variety of Democrats.
@11:36
NOAA says the heat is record breaking and unprecedented
NWS says the heat is record breaking and unprecedented
What are your credentials to tell us they are wrong?
Have you ever heard of Dunning-Krueger?
Have you ever considered that you simply just wrong and you are simply ignore experts who challenge your uneducated beliefs?
Two things here:
First, I have worked on, sold, bought, appraised, and have been in the industry for 30 years. I know and understand cars. The idea of hybrid seems to make since for now but the idea of all electric is 20-30 years away. The market will have to allow for these to become mainstream and not the gubment. With the government pushing these we are seeing Fires, lack of chargers, lack of reasonable range, huge price tags, ect. If the government would back off and let competition prevail we would have long lasting, reasonable priced cars sometime in the future. Electric makes sense, as much as I hate to say it, I love my gas powered cars but if you provide me a all electric with a 750 miles range, charge in an hour and be reasonably priced I would own one. It will happen eventually. The batteries are the issue. They will need to be able to be 100% recycled at a reasonable price.
Secondly, the reason the Titan is being discontinued is easy. They suck. They have always been unreliable, gas guzzlers (10 MPG) terrible resale, ugly trucks. If you bought one it was either because you just did not know or you could not get approved for anything but a Nissan or a Mopar. Yes, Mopar and Nissan have special financing that most others do not fool with, the 500-600 credit score crowd. That's why there are so many Nissans and Mopars in the HUD development type areas. I'm not joking, ask someone who does financing.
10:39 AM, so that is what you should have said. You never remember experiencing this sort of dry heat in your 40 years. Of course I doubt your memory of our hot summers when you were 10 years of age or younger isn't all that accurate.
11:36 I agree. My wife has complained about the heat. It's Mississippi in August. It's always hot in July and August. At least I'm not a teenager again chopping cotton and driving a tractor in a hot Delta cotton field.
Nissan is making a big mistake not keeping with gas vehicles. These country boys, farmers and contractors are not going to buy these electric vehicles. Look at the cost to replace the battery packs in 4 years, $20-30,000 dollars.
Watch what happens as these costs get to $80-90,000 on these electric trucks.
As 12:52 said, the lone idiot that I know who (past tense) owned one.He traded it rather than eat the cost to replace the battery.
Seems kinda wasteful to potential make a car that has a 5 year shelf life before even the most dedicated hipster is ready to toss it.
Lotta scrap metal garbage > gasoline
I think as many stated, just let consumers choose and see how it shakes out.
Heck, it seems we already did that.
Nissan donated a 100 or so new & used SUV & trucks to the State of Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. I got a Titan & enjoyed it for awhile since the state was paying for the gas. But decided to downgrade to a Chevy auto which was a much better vehicle & a smoother ride.
I’m a Toyota PHEV owner.
I bought a Toyota PHEV because they made it so that a shade tree mechanic can replace the battery.
I also can do my round trip commute on my battery and it is semi-self driving with Toyota Super Cruise.
Y’all haters are liars and should be ashamed of just lying on the internet like that!
Replace the batteries in a Prius yourself for around $3000
Google says it’s 10 to 20 year life span and $5000 -15000 to replace . When you think about a gas fill up averaging $40 per week or $2000. O0 per year with charging fees and all at the bare minimum you would break even. It’s more likely that you would come out ahead.
1:45 PM Dunning and Krueger are being paid by George Soros to spread lies
Rednecks won’t buy EVs
One more video for you willfully ignorant, anti-intellectual hillbillies.
Touring America’s Top Lithium Battery Recycler with JerryRigEverything
@ 5:42 - Who can fill up for $40? I guess I could top off the tank if it were 3/4 full. Three five gallon cans of lawnmower/boat motor fuel costs more than that.
@7:18 PM
Every watch a Tesla drag race a Corvette?
Chevy is rushing the EV Silverado out because they don’t want videos of the cybertruck smoking a Chevy truck in a drag race.
That’s also why they are making an EV Corvette and telling enthusiasts to buy whichever one they prefer.
The Silverado EV and Hummer EV are preorder/sold for the first 2 years.

My credentials are, I can read.
Go to weather.gov and look at the actual data. Not the narrative, the data. Then tell everyone this heat is unprecedented.
Yes, I have considered that I could be wrong, because I certainly do not believe everything I read or hear. Especially if it comes from the federal government. If I am wrong its because the government data is wrong. Which is very possible.
Yes I have heard of Dunning-Krueger and other experts. But I do not automatically believe everything they say.
I may be wrong, but I am not uneducated.

I know a Honda CRV and Accord both have 11-12 gallon tanks. They fill up from empty at $40.
So many triggered people.
