It's Showtime!

 DOWN GOES ARCHIE!!!

The primaries are finally over.  Will there be runoffs? Will the losers quietly go home or throw tantrums? Will Pickett party at the M Bar or will his candidacy get Blounted? What will happen in HD #72? Can the Mayor pull it out for Sista Rukia? Last but not least, will the challenger from Ellisville beat Northeast Jackson's finest in the Leftenent Governor race? Stay tuned as we live blog the results while yours truly is coherent enough to do so.

Prediction? Gilbert by a dozen.  Lumumba & Gibbs in runoff.  Quite a few people don't vote for the Rankin County Sheriff.  Tyree crushes Marshand, again.  Malcolm will face off against the Bobcat while Vern goes looking for Earnest.

It's bed time.  So to recap, Gilbert is holding a 9-point lead over McDaniel.  David Archie goes down.  Credell goes into a runoff.  Gibbs and Lumumba get to slug it out yet again for three more weeks.  Everything else went pretty much as expected.

 11:20 PM

The Lieutenant Governor's race creeps to a close.  McDaniel reached his 150,000 votes but.... but Hosemann continues to lead, 52%-43%.  Longino has polled 5% all night long as she plays the spoiler role to the hilt.

Over in HD #72, there is going to be a runoff.  91% of the vote is counted and Gibbs earned 41% of the vote while Lumumba lagged at 31%.  Synarus Green is about to get real popular with his 22% of the vote.

HD #72 was not the only slugfest taking place as change is a'coming to the Hinds County Board of Supervisors.

District 1: Incumbent Robert Graham is untouchable at 62% despite having two challengers.

District 2: 93% of the vote is counted and Antonius Smith is beating David L. Archie almost 2:1 or 64% - 36%.  Smith received 4,252 votes to Archie's 2,361 votes.  Smith will face former District 2 Supervisor Darryl McQuirter in the November election.

District 3: no change

District 4: We got us a race.  Bring on the runoff.

District 5: Left for dead, Bobcat pulls off a resurrection.

10:50 PM

78% of the vote is counted and McDaniel continues to creep towards his usual 150,000 votes.  The only problem is Eggbert has 170,929 votes, giving him a lead of over 30,000 votes. The incumbent leads 52%-43%.  Will Longino be the new Gainey? Time will tell.

Now back to Hinds County.

David Blount beat back the forces of evil as our favorite thug pastor got taken to the woodshed, 80% - 20%.  Mr. Blount, please remember what the Lumumbas tried to do to you the next time they try to push you around . They came after you and you kicked their ass.  Get some backbone for a change and shove them out the door.  You don't need them.

DOWN GOES ARCHIE!!! DOWN GOES ARCHIE!!! Wow.  Voters got tired of Archie's antics as they kicked him out of office.  93% of the vote is scored and Anthony Smith is taking a switch to Archie's behind, 64%-36%.  Damn.  Smith got 4,252 votes to Archie's paltry total of 2,361.  David is done.

Meanwhile over in District 3, Deborah Dixon is spanking that Credell Calhoun ass.  The former legislator just might avoid a runoff.  91% of the vote is counted and she leads at 50.23%.  However, Calhoun may not get that ball as he only garnered 40% of the vote.  Antonio Porter got 9% of the vote.

  10:20 PM

This knuckleheaded analyst on WLBT is confused why McDaniel is doing so well as he only got 16% of the vote in 2018.  Well, why don't you look at the actual vote totals he gets.  He gets around 150,000 votes in his statewide elections.  Right now 74% of the votes are counted and guess what? McDaniel has nearly 125,000 votes, staying true to form.  Analysis, indeed.

Right now, Eggbert leads McDaniel 52%-43%, with margin of nearly 30,000 votes.

10:10 PM

The race to replace Deborah Gibbs is tightening up.  72% of the vote is in and Gibbs only has a 125 vote lead over Lumumba, 39%-33%.  It appears there will be a runoff.

Back to the Heriff's race.  19544 85% 3426 15%

Back to the Sheriff's race as Sheriff Tyree Jones is kicking Crisler's ass worse than he did nearly two years ago and that is without Republican (translation: white) votes.  You just had to give up that gig at the youth detention center.

Wait a second? Is Marshand telling WLBT that its is unfortunate the "minority rules"?  Marshand, you are one dumb, and I mean really dumb motherfucker.  Thank goodness that blessed mother of yours is not here to see the embarrassment you are to yourself and your family.  What an idiot .

10:00 PM

Rankin County is done.  46 of 46 precincts are tallied up.  Jared Morrison came from behind to beat Brian Rhodes, 54%-46%.  Morrison served several terms as a Supervisor and the voters gave him a promotion as a reward.

While one Supervisor moved up in the ranks, another one is going to the house.  Daniel Cross lost to Mark Scarborough in the contest for Rankin County Chancery Clerk.  The race was not even close as the winner garnered 60% of the vote.

Although Sheriff Bryan Bailey ran unopposed, voters made their feelings about the Rankin County Sheriff known as there were 3,480 undervotes in this race.  After what took place last week in court, the Sheriff probably would have lost today if there were an opponent.

9:50 PM

Inexcusable.  Hinds County is not posting election results as the votes are counted as are Rankin and Madison counties.  This is not the first time this has happened.  Why does Hinds County always lag behind? Who are these no names analysts on WLBT?

61% of the vote is in and Delbert is slowing extending his lead over McDaniel to 11 points, 53%-42%.

What is going on in the Sheriff's race? Tyree whupping that Marshand ass 82%-17%.   It appears the Sheriff is beating the indictee worse than he did in 2021 - without Republican votes.  Ouch.  Ha.  Marshand is not even holding a party but things are "quiet at his house."  Does anyone think Marshand is too dumb to get the message?

WHOA!!! Anthony Smith is whupping up on David Archie 62%-38% with nearly half the votes counted.  Wow.  All the drama may have finally caught up with Archie.  It would be ironic if Credell and Bobcat lose only to see David goes down as well.  Definitely a message from the voters.

Malcolm the Mouth might make the runoff after all.  Check out Hinds Supervisor District 5.

  9:35 PM

41 of 43 precincts are counted in Madison County.  Damn.  it's not even 9:30.  Ah... the days of paper ballots when election nights were actually fun as you had to wait all night for returns.

Hilbert continues to crush it in Madison County as he leads at 66%.  Chris McDaniel has all of 30% of the vote, not even a third. Now on to the locals.

Steen's pick, Sheldon Vance, is done in the Tax Collector election.  Steen donated several thousand dollars to his puppet but voters didn't but the shuck and jive.  Garavellis leads 58% - 42%, a difference of 2,488 votes.  Tax Collector's race goes to the good guys.

A retiring Sheila Jones will hand her seat over to Casey Brannon.  Brannon has an insurmountable lead of 1,977 votes over his nearest challenger, Arlette Thompson.  Brannon: 61%, Thompson: 22%, Jenkins: 16%.

Last and probably least is the District 3 Constable election.  Richard "Taco" Johnson got two-thirds of the vote as he leads Michael Bailey 65%-35%.

Such is life in Madison County tonight.

9:25 PM

Ok, let's be honest.  Unless you have a local interest, election night is boring but for one race.  Time to open up some Sazerac Rye.  Welcome back, old friend. Eat your heart out, Mascona.

Hosemann has a 10-point lead, 52%-42%, over McDaniel with 46% of the votes counted.

Only 19% of the vote may be counted but David Blount is clobbering Hizzoner's buddy, Dewayne Pickett, 81%-19%.  Over in Madison County, McMillan is taking a commanding lead over his two opponents.  McMillan enjoys a lead at 54% to 40% for Bob Anderson and 5% for Jonathan Berry. Being Deviney's son-in-law helps.  99% of the votes are counted.  Stick a fork in this race .

Next up is HD #72, the long-awaited death-match between the Lumumbas and Gibbs.  Justice Gibbs leads Sista Rukia, 39% - 33% but don't celebrate any time soon.  His lead is only 41 votes even though 33% of the votes are counted.  Synarus Green trails at 22%.

9:04 PM

McDaniel is starting to fade as Hosemann takes a ten point lead, 52%-42%, with 28% of the vote counted.

Nearly half the vote is counted in Rankin County (20/46). Gilbert leads McDaniel 56%-39%.  Rhodes is every so lightly putting some space between him and Morrison in the State Senate race with a 249 vote lead. Scarborough continues to dominate Cross 57%-43% in the Chancery Clerk race.  Sheriff Bailey is underperforming by nearly a thousand votes.

 8:55 PM

Did someone say Madison County? Madco is finally up on the board. 9/43 precincts are reporting.  1,025 voters cast ballots in the Democrat primary while 2,863 voted in the GOP scrum.

Governor Tate Reeves received 80% of the vote.  Hosemann is crushing McDaniel, 65%-31%.  The recent controversy apparently had no effect on the race as Hosemann leads by nearly a thousand votes.

There is an interesting race in HD #58.  Jonathan McMillan holds the lead at a microscopic 50.5%. He leads Bob Anderson by 135 votes while Jonathan Berry garnered 5%.

Former County Administrator Sheldon Vance is on the short end right now as C.J. Gravelli lead 56%-44%.

There is only one competitive supervisor race as the incumbents have no primary opposition.  Casey Brannon is running away with 64% of the vote while Arlette Hulsey Thompson trails with 23%.  Timothy Jenkins brings up the rear at 13%.

8:45 PM

Let's take a look at Rankin County.   21% of the vote is counted (10 of 46 precincts). Hosemann is beating McDaniel 54%-42%.  This is probably the largest GOP box in the state and Hosemann is enjoying a comfortable lead.  The Rankin GOP establishment backed the incumbent and their help is paying off tonight.

Brian Rhodes is beating Supervisor Jared Morrison 52%-47%, a difference of 71 votes.  Fred Shanks managed to not beat himself.

The race to replace retiring Chancery Clerk Larry Swales is proving quite interesting.  Mark Scarborough is walloping Supervisor Daniel Cross 70%-30%.  Will the lead hold? Michelle Adcock is cruising with a 72%-28% lead over Melissa Harrison in the Circuit Clerk race.

Supervisor District 1 election will probably go to a runoff:

8:30 PM

Hosemann takes a lead over McDaniel with 9% of the vote counted, 48% - 44%.

8:15 PM

The Tater is blowing up the slum lord of Fox Bay as expected with 5% of the vote counted.

Reeves: 70%

Wilcher: 19%

Hardigree: 10%

McDaniel slightly leads in the LG race by 30 votes but only 6% of the vote is counted.  They are tied at 46%.

Hmmm.... Incumbent PSC Commissioner for South Mississippi Dane Maxwell is losing although only 4% of the vote is tallied.

Nelson Carr: 3,125

Dane Maxwell:  2,767

No matter which provincial clown wins any of these primaries, Mississippi loses.

Wlbt reporting horseman and McDaniels neck and neck 46% tied.

Anonymous said...

If I owned a popular blog, I would be pulling like hell for another McDaniel runoff. What will his idiot supporters try this time?

Anonymous said...

Maybe McD will be less of a jackass if elected?

Anonymous said...

Dane Maxwell is Entergy’s mouthpiece. He’s never met a rate increase he didn’t like.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn’t call Delbert Hosemann NE Jackson’s finest 😂

Anonymous said...

@829. Not a chance in hell if that happens. He’ll always be a clown.

Anonymous said...

Hopefully, McDaniel will tuck his tail and crawl back into the hole from which he came after tonight. A true right wing NUT.

The Madison Mayor’s recent stunt ( endorsement) is sad. It is:
1. Not indicative of how Madison will vote.
2. Not well received by the people who elected her.
3. Embarrassing that she thinks the Lt Governor can actually change the judicial redistricting. That is a function of the legislature not the or Lt governor.
4. Just another example of how extraordinarily out of touch she is with Madison.
5. Proof that she has NO significant influence over how Madison relates to her.

Time for you to go Mayor.

We have had enough.

You should have just kept your mouth shut.

Delbert can still be a vice president if he loses.

9:21 blame it on the booze

Rankin county results are being reported wrong by someone. Compare wlbt to others.

Anonymous said...

The best outcome for tonight will be flushing the political toilet with Chris McDaniel. Good riddance! 👏

Anonymous said...

@9:21 Mary's seat as long as she wants it. YOU don't speak for Madison.

Anonymous said...

9:21, Madison the City will keep electing Mother Mary as their protector for life. She took Delbert to the woodshed before when he was Secretary of State and trying to screw Calumet leaseholders. Don't Mess With Mary!

Anonymous said...

KF, you are going to have to look at Smith County’s vote tally before you declare a winner in the Senate District 36 race between Morrison and Rhodes.

Anonymous said...

@9:58
Apparently neither does the mayor!
HaHaHaHa

Yes,Marshan said "minority rules'....WTH did he mean?

@9:59
Thanks for checking in Mayor!

Anonymous said...

Kingfish Marshand is not dumb just delusional and full of himself. He doesn’t give a shit about Hinds County or Jackson. It’s time for him to go away and drive Credell around town.

Anonymous said...

Rhodes won - carried Smith County 70-30. Won by around 1300 votes.

Anonymous said...

Not a very smart move on Madison Mayors part. She has now made an even bigger enemy of the most powerful politician in the state of Mississippi. Lt Gov has much more power than governor in Mississippi and will run for governor. Madison doesn’t need strong political enemies.

Anonymous said...

10:19, I'm not Mary. And 10:54, Madison doesn't need handouts from the State.

Anonymous said...

I’m sending Archie a metal gavel that he can use at the Mayors weekly pressers. I know the Sheriff is glad his ignorant ass is gone.

Anonymous said...

yada yada yada who 1 what?

Anonymous said...

Dear Mr Lt Governor,
Please do not hold any animosity towards the citizens of Madison just because we have an incompetent mayor.

Anonymous said...

My how the politics turn. Last election Mary accused McD's folks for the shenanigans in the Rose Cochran debacle. They were some bad people. Now she tried to get you to vote for McD over some idiotic issue that Delbert doesn't control. It's sad the she thinks she can control the voters of Madison. How'd that work for ya, Mary?

Anonymous said...

@11:43
Delbert Hosemann live in Jackson… he knows about incompetent mayors.

Anonymous said...

11:05, every road project in Madison was paid for by taxpayers for upside of Madison.

Anonymous said...

So how many votes did sheriff Bailey get in Rankin County? I can’t seem to find that info anywhere.

Anonymous said...

12:13 exactly. She talks out of both sides of her mouth. Bless her heart. That video for McDaniel makes her look like she should be on some southern belle soap opera. WAY to much makeup and an over played southern drawl. She’s done great things for Madison the city, but sometimes she needs to stay in her lane.

I voted for Shelton Vance. I have no issue with the other guy at all. But Kay Pace has been so absent that the Tax Collector office needs a kick in the butt. Shelton can be abrasive and that’s what that office needs right now. I’m worried CJ will be too soft. The last thing we need is “y’all keep doing it the way you’ve been doing it”. The tax collector office is in shambles and the service is terrible. It’s an absolute mess.

Anonymous said...

I mail in all my tax bills so I wont have to deal with the rude women that work for the collector.

I understand them being the way they are though. I'd find it tough to be civil to people if I worked for Kay Pace every day.

Anonymous said...

Vance's arrogance and the way he's treated people though out his career finally caught up with him. I worked with him at the DOR and he was nothing nice there either.

Anonymous said...

@7:35 AM - You obviously aren't visiting the tax office in Madison on Cobblestone. They are the nicest and most helpful folks you will find.

Anonymous said...

Taco’s a constable?

Good for Rich.

Anonymous said...

Going to miss seeing David Archie antics at the supervisor board meetings.
How many votes did the Rankin CO sheriff get?
Did Rukia win?

Anonymous said...

@ 11:05 - If Madison 'doesn't need handouts from the state', why has your mayor spent a lifetime sucking up to state senators and representatives past and present, select county supervisors, Thad at the national level and of course Dick Hall?

Anonymous said...

The outgoing Tax Collector in Madison County hires from the Mississippi School For The Blind. I say that because in forty three years I've never had one look me in the eye when I'm standing in front of her.

When Sally retired, what little competence the office had walked out the door with her.

Don't know Mr. Garavelli (is his dad, Ron, over at Wildlife?) but it's a man's turn to get this department in shape. And at least hire one or two blind MEN in the process.

Anonymous said...

@8:00 AM. You are correct. Shelton isn't always nice and can be hard to deal with. That is what that office needs. They have a significant amount of money unaccounted for, bank statements haven't been balanced, kids come to work with their parents and scream and run around behind the counter, car tags are improperly calculated, etc. The office is a clusterf*ck. They need an a-hole to come in and shake things up. Some employees need to feel uncomfortable. Accountability is needed in the worst way. I wish CJ the best, but he has his work cut out for him. I hope he's the man for the job. But if he comes in and tells them they are doing a great job, then we've got a problem.

Anonymous said...

David Archie and I had a conversation a few years back about our schools. He was convinced that if JPS adopted and enforced the same rules as private academies, discipline in JPS schools would be much better. They just can't seem to see the big picture.

RED said...

@6:49-Vance “abrasive”—Thats exactly why no one that has every worked for him or was an elected city or county official voted for him, except one. We need public servants not a jackass running our county offices. The only elected person that supported him was Steen who gave him $5,000–figure that one out. Any guesses???

Anonymous said...

WOOHOOOO for Taco Johnson! ! !

I've known him since he was in high school. He has been an excellent law enforcement officer and investigator.

Now he can bring that experience to his district as a constable.

Anonymous said...

@7:30 - you obviously live in closer to and use the south annex office.

Come to the Canton office you'll see what we're talking about.

Garavelli's office with the Assessor is in the south annex and I dont foresee him moving his office to Canton as Tax Collector.

Anonymous said...

So glad Shelton Vance didn't win I could do a dance. He did enough damage on the MCBOS.

Anonymous said...

I am afraid Madison county will have another absentee collector in Garavelli. He will be more concerned with his appraisal business than running the tax collectors office. He is seldom in the assessors office because like the current tax assessor they are too busy running their personal appraisal businesses.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Anonymous said...

The tax collector's office in Canton is the worst run Madison county office. And the overall accountability in the department is terrible. Kay Pace retired 8 years ago, she just kept drawing a check. C.J. has his work cut our for him. It won't be easy, it will take long hours, and will take telling some folks to "shape up or find another job". I hope C.J. can do it. I'm pulling for him. But he's going to have to give some employees some tough love, or an ultimatum.

Poor Archie. He is such a leader and sets a positive example for all. Not.

Reckon David Archie will blame his loss on those dirty low-down while folks??

It is so sad that the Marxist-in-Training Sista Rukia lost. Not.

Kay Pace had great Public service & her employees in both the Canton & City of Madison office are great! I hope the new TC keeps same employees!

@10:21- you sound like someone who got fired from the TA office. The Madison County TA office is well respected as the most citizen friendly and professional office in the state. Never failed to deliver a tax roll for the cities, schools and county in the last 36 years.

Anonymous said...

Rukia don’t need y’all! She’s on a jet right now to San Fran to meet with other Transformative Justice activists and Civil Rights attorneys. Trip paid for by grants from the CoJ to her non-profits.

Brian Rhodes won the seat after Smith County reported.

Anonymous said...

12:43, never worked for the assessor or the collector. However, I know several people that have and still do work for both and just passing along what I've been told.

Anonymous said...

@12:43 So you are saying people from the other 81 counties have declared the Madison County TA office the "most citizen friendly and professional office" in the state. I must have been out of town when that vote was taken. But, I bet they have the prettiest brick building for sure.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
