Update (11:30 AM): District Attorney Jody Owens said he will pursue another trial as soon as possible.
William "Napoleon" "Polo" "The Cipher" Edwards may yet get to fight another day. The jury said it could not reach a verdict in his case.
Start at 5:00 below.
Kingfish note: They couldn't get him on the gun charge?

Only 6-1/2 hours for deliberation is a joke and exhibits laziness.
During my last jury duty we deliberated for six full days.
From prior thread:
@4:36 he is safer in jail for what he did to Bobby Davis. If he gets out and that is a big IF, because Dummies like you seem to forget that the Felon with a gun charge is enough to lock him up for life . This is his third strike. But let’s say He sees the free world again. Real goons are after him for what he did to Bobby. So like I said. He won’t survive his life sentence in prison and he wont survive the outside world. Street Justice will come for him.
I was the "dummy" at 4:36. Feel free to admit YOU are the dumb one for thinking Hinds Co justice would work.
We can probably both agree that Street Justice is much more reliable that the actual judicial branch.
"They couldn't get him on the gun charge?"
Bet the Feds could if they adopt the charge. He's still not allowed to own or possess a firearm regardless of the outcome of the murder trial.

I guess maybe you get what you're paid for.
I served on a Hinds murder trial and we reached a guilty verdict in less than one full day.
The evidence was simply irrefutable to anyone with a brain. No reasonable doubt.
But this was in the 90's and there were only 1-2 low IQ jurors that barely grasped basic life concepts. Once we got them up speed...guilty.
I'd say the tables have likely flipped by now and there is only 1-2 sane jurors and THEY eventually give up and let the low IQ folks dictate the outcome. Such as this.
Only in Hinds county are you sanctioned to kill again-
PS- Dennis Sweet's appearance may have been the factor
Doesn't Jody Owens know that if he is convicted Polo will lose his voting rights? Voting rights are more sacred than human life.
A very unreliable key witness allowed a good lawyer to turn the tables on the prosecution and create the slim possibiity that SHE did it. It was very slim and very speculative, but he got the right jury and someboy on that jury bit. Jury makeup is everything.
I watched the entire trial. I for one believe that he is guilty as sin. HOWEVER..the constitution promises everyone a fair trail. The court didn’t allow the defendant that in this case. Regardless of how outlandish the defendants version of the events were, it’s his (attorney’s) right to fully flesh that out to the jury and Petterson made it clear that she was not going to allow it because “the witness is not on trail”. Big mistake!
I am absolutely not pro polo. I am pro constitution. And this dude did not get a fair trial. Hopefully when it’s retry, they’ll get a real judge.
"Kingfish note: They couldn't get him on the gun charge?"
Someone made an attempt at jury nullification.
You do NOT want to b judged by a Hinds County jury! The people on them are the people who couldn't wiggle their way out of sitting in the first place.
Let this be a lesson to those called in other counties: PLEASE sit for jury service! You're the only ones standing between someone's life an jail!
I have never served jury duty, thank the LORD, but if deliberations are anything like the movie, 12 Angry Men, I would love it. I find that movie, in my opinion, to be one of the best ever made.
Y’all got to remember this is a jury of his peers! If there was a video of the shooting his peers would question if it was really him! Absolutely no concept or value of life
All you numbskulls blaming the jury, try blaming the Judge.
Free Napoleon!
11:10/- The only lazy folks hear are the prosecutors. Go find the damn gun! It’s somewhere where is phone pinged in Lexington or Nola! Duh!
Will street justice come into play?
Who ever is paying Tom.. double it. Much creativity will be needed next time to explain why Shadow would kill a dude who came to cook her neckbones.
I wasn’t expecting a verdict before Wednesday, but I’m not surprised by the verdict. I wouldn’t underestimate the influence of his “celebrity” LOL, Ms Shadow’s dubious background, and the absence of the smoking gun as reason enough for even one of these jurors to give him a pass.
You really expect 12 people in Hinds County to sit in the same room for 6 hours and all agree on something????

12:12 Blame the Judge? For what? Where was she not impartial? She did her job and so did the defense attorneys. The state had a good case but could not convince all 12 jurors. Their eye witness was not credible enough.
The DA couldn't provide sufficient evident without a "Shadow" of a doubt.
Forget it Jake, It's Hinds County
Bigger question. None of the people in Clinton on Hannah Drive have ring door bells or video door bells in general? What about video security cameras around their house? Are there no house alarms in Clinton? You mean to tell me that none of the folks on Hannah drive had a video security system that would show Pastor Pickett Do Boy on the street? Since ole Tom said we don’t even know who was driving the truck? Also does the good ole pastor let anyone borrow the truck ? Or is that just reserve for folks he maybe in sexual relations with? Don’t act surprised. Vick Allen wrote an entire song (on YouTube Forbidden Love affair) about Pickett.
Do I need to go hunt through the other posts to find my "told you so" comment?
Now in Mississippi, as in California with the OJ Simpson verdict, murder is made legal.
2:41 Oh what a circle we weave! It’s a lot of shigity goings on. Follow the black truck, I meant the money.
I really don’t know what I’m talking about just jackaasry!!!
People really think someone is going to risk their freedom doing some Street Justice?
What about all of you non-lawyer, copenhagen experts that mocked Tom? Whereyat? You may want to get his number for when you smack your old lady around.
@2:41 pm
This man named Reverend Pickett... how is he involved in all this?? I am not overly familiar with him, but I do recall he may have been involved in some questionable behavior in the past...
At least, during his second trial, Polo might treat us to his heart hairdo once again.
Exactly what "freedom" do you think anyone committing street justice is risking 3:45?
If this case does not prove that murder is basically legal in Hinds Co, then I don't know what would.
12 people to agree? especially with a 'star' witness like that?
sheesh. i did a 'mock jury' this summer-could not reach a decision because two of them thought that the defendant 'looked like a nice guy' and that 'he said he was going to repay the money and i believe him'
4:25 Have you not listened & read @ Rev. Pickett who owned the truck found in NO. That is what News said
@4:25 apparently you didn’t watch the trial nor follow the case. Polo was in Pickett’s truck when the murder happened and when they caught him in NOLA, he was in the same truck. Pickett took the stand and said it was his truck and him being a Christian man allowed him to borrow his truck for six months straight. Plus Polo called pickett while on the run. So Pickett is involved in this case
@3:45 people risk their freedom all the time for street justice in jackson . Do you not follow the news? Half of these murders and shootings are done by people getting their lick back. So yes Street Justice is about to come into play.
Jury of his peers indeed.
As has been said, this was a Jackson, MS version of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
And while I didn't care which one prevailed ... it was funny.
Who couldn't laugh out loud at Shadow.
(Or keep a straight face when the cameras zoomed in on Napoleon's hair).
And BTW, if my last comment appeared "racist".
It's not.
How much did Polo's hairdo cost ?
How long did Polo's hairdo take ?
8:17 I just shot a man 9 times, “can I take your truck out of State” ? As a Christian man you have my blessing! Now I’m just repeating what 8:17 in the said comment, I think!
Now this accused killer ( a married man) has been on various trips to Miami and other places with his girlfriend, stays in a downtown loft, and he has to borrow the Pastors truck for months! It’s something really, really wrong with that picture!
Is the good pastor cooking him greens and butter beans?
Now I ain’t knocking what the Pastor does with his possessions, something just ain’t right in my opinion.
In many courts around the country the judge would have pushed a little harder and sent the jury back to deliberate some more.
Of course they say that they are "hopelessly deadlocked," as they just want to go home.
"If this case does not prove that murder is basically legal in Hinds Co, then I don't know what would."
Personally I would have used "tolerated" versus legal, but then again, it is Hinds County which includes Jackson.
2nd trial will be interesting. Shadow can't pull all the same stuff and surprise everybody. They know what to expect. Polo's attorney was lucky that she went nuts on the stand. Easy to point a finger and that and say, but she's already crazy... Will be interesting.
Please excuse if this is German. Did Shadow and Polo get together to set this us, by throwing so much crap at the jury they failed to convict?
Anyone know if in MS does the DA have to pursue another indictment or can the existing indictment still be used to apply for a second arrest warrant? Thanks.
Tom Fortner is just awesome! Always has been and always will be. However, Polo is just guilty and apparently killed a man over a woman, a woman who was community property.
