Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
On Monday, August 21, the sheriff’s office was dispatched to the area of Reservoir Way where it was reported that an 11-year-old male went missing near a pond. Deputies responded to the scene where a neighbor had located the child but was unable to remove him from the water. Deputies immediately jumped in and assisted in pulling the child out. Deputies immediately began CPR until medical arrived on scene. The child was then taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. An investigation into the incident is underway.

Prayers for this poor soul as well as their family
11:31 maybe the neighbor couldn’t swim, was elderly, etc.
@ 11:31 my thought is the neighbor couldn't swim and the boy floating out in the pond, or could have been close and the neighbor could have been elderly and not able to wade out to get him. Either way a sad situation.
RIP.
Bailey never let's a crisis go to waste. His deputies jumped in, not him.
It wasn’t just the deputies it was also the reservoir police department out there to we can't forget about them
Stop with the shit comments, please. A child has died. A family is grief-stricken. The pain will never end.
I cannot fathom the trauma that the person who found the child is coping with either.
But may God grant them all some peace, if that is possible.
Sweet boy who was a friend and classmate of my daughter. They rode the bus together too. Alot of sad kiddos right now in their friend group...he will be missed. Condolences to his parents for this tragic and untimely loss. RIP.
I totally blame KF for posting the crap comments.
Just another reason to ignore the e-begging for support.
