Health Department Checks Restaurants for C19 Violations

Social media was ablaze with the news the Health Department cited several local restaurants for Covid-19 violations Friday night.  JJ did some digging and got some more information about what took place.  The Health Department stated in an email sent to this website:

MSDH Food Protection team members responded to Executive Order compliance complaints the evening of August 28, 2020, at Amerigo in Ridgeland and Capitol Grille in DeVille Plaza in Jackson. The restaurant section of Amerigo was observed to be in compliance with current EOs. At both locations, the bar areas were observed to be out of compliance with current EOs regarding social distancing, capacity restrictions, and mask wearing. At both locations, Food Protection team members educated the on-site managers regarding EO requirements for bars, and at both locations, managers agreed to address the noncompliance with staff and patrons. Amerigo was also cited for an expired food permit.
No restaurant was fined for a violation of Covid-19 regulations.   However, it appears the Health Department will be making the rounds on Friday and Saturday nights.

When our government has "Food Protection Team Members" educating business management, we are F'd. So...., we are F'd.

PS...how does one get a gig as a "Food Protection Team Member" who goes around educating business' management?

A covid sneeze at a Waffle House is statistically less likely to ruin one's life than a random
bullet at said restaurant in Jackson, Mississippi.

After the Salmonella outbreak with onions this month,
I'm even hesitant to order a bag of krystals at 3:00 AM.

Every soul in Waffle house between midnight and four a.m. and all patrons of KFC, Church's, Popeyes and Krystal at closing time is drunk. And we all know alcohol poisoning kills this Wuhan thang.

And where you gone find a state employee to report for duty after 5:10 p.m.?

In other words...FAKE NEWS.

Dining out just isn't the experience that it used to be. And the service in most restaurants was getting pretty shitty before covid hit.

Gawd yes !

That's what made having a snack at those places so much fun .

The bars had to deal with "closing time" bit those food joints could operate 24/7.

Amerigos's has been one of the best restaurants in the metro area for many years. The bar area is separated from the rest of the areas. The folks who choose to dine in the bar area should be individual choice not government. If you are not comfortable w it. Dont enter bar area. There is so so much contradiction in this whole mask thing. I can show you hundreds of spaces not practicing so call rules.

I agree with 4:02 and 4:05. Both made very accurate points! My wife and I went out to a restaurant Saturday evening and it wasn’t worth the time or the hassle. Drop a nuke on China before they drop one on us and get rid of this crap as get rid of the CCP controlling the Democratic Party and things will get back to normal. And that my friends is not being racist. We should have taken care of them after WWII along with Russia and our problems wouldn’t be so bad right now.

I honestly don’t see how restaurants are staying in business. They are much needed, and to some a much needed outing but we decided to keep cooking at home. The staff was eagle eyeing each patron like we were third graders or they were acting like the communist political party leader of the village forcing the patrons to stay in line. And just tell me what state employee works after 5....keep on dreaming people. And get back in line comrade.

Another right-wing victory for my fellow freedom-loving Mississippians! We teamed up with the left to call the goddamned government on a restaurant for not participating in a scam that violates at least 8 of the Constitutional Amendments! Good job conservatives! Together with the left we WILL usher in crushing totalitarian communism!

About time for them to check out the christmas tree farm restaurant in Desoto County! But of course then that idiot would claim that the check was only done for political reasons.

Foster, with his defiant claim that the Dept of Health can't tell him what to do in his private business is ripe for an overall investigation - see if he is even bothering to follow the DOH regs on water temperatures in the dishwasher, whether his employees are washing their hands after using the restroom, whether the tables are being cleaned - and certainly make sure that there are no men being seen talking to women in the restaurant if they are not married.

Well, another two weeks from his High Ass Tate. I call for a mask mandate to go until after the New Year. Tate doesn't get it, because Dobbs doesn't get it, that Covid is here to stay, like Herpes, the gift that keeps giving. Both Herpes 1 and 2. Cold sore or shingles.

From the comments, it looks like the GRU is back at work today, sowing discord online.

Geez 6:05pm.....do tell the rest of the story. You obviously had a run in at some point.

get used to masks..even after a vaccine for covid19....where are they made? in the same factory as the maga hats in china??

Anonymous said...

Damn....8:03pm figured it out. So now Trump started the virus to sell masks?

Table 100, Saturday before last, 7 pm, bar and dining area at full capacity.

I agree with others that dining in a restaurant these days is not much fun or pleasurable. Those high velocity ceiling fans can sling spit 60 feet through the air. We'll continue buying takeout as we've done since March to help the restaurants and alleviate the boredom of having to cook at home. Eventually this pandemic will pass and normal life will resume, with or without a vaccine.

Any restaurant that refuses to follow any BOH temporary or permanent regulations is destroying itself. We're not going to patronize any restaurant that violates the rules intended to keep us healthy.

Must wear a mask to go in a restaurant, but you can take it off once seated with the many others in your party. Eat, drink, talk and spew whatever into the air, but make sure you put your face diaper back on before you leave. A complete fucking joke brought to you by the Tot.

Picked up food from Amerigo recently. Packed restaurant and bar. hostess commented they didn't have enough employees for the capacity and kitchen was backed up.

If you are worried about the 'rona, stay the hell at home and don't go to restaurants with a bad attitude looking for everyone to perfectly embrace your phobia.

My exact first thought 3:21 PM.

They may even offer a "work from home team" . . . evaluating contactless delivery and such.

I was told the City of Vicksburg has a woman assigned to go into businesses and report back if they are following The DicTater’s rules (and their mayor’s rules)...
how do I get that job???

I don't give a hoot who says Green Acres is their favorite poster. The above quote from Mr. Acres is silly. Get off your ass and learn the art of cooking in your own kitchen, preparing nice meals for your family and whipping up new recipes. Make biscuits for the first time in your life. Can some figs. Learn to heat water and make Jello. Lazy ass!

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
