Green Oak Nursery owner Karen McKie discussed the crime, vagrants, and lax city enforcement that plagues the area around her business on the Kim Wade radio show Monday. Yours truly subbed for the Radio Strongman as he endured yet another re-education camp. The show is posted below. Enjoy.

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Did anyone see the lady panhandling at the 55 north @ 463 exit yesterday?
No. But she's not there today.
Madison don't play.
Clarify for those out of touch like me.....Mr. Wade was where?
@ 12:01 She was there today! Saw her around 11:10-11:15am!
She's Back panhandling isn't a crime. What are going to do offer her a ride out of town?
If you Listened to the part about the Hotel...Google search the "Patel Motel Cartel"...in 1999, a NY Times article 1st brought it to National Attention. The Patel Cast started out buying low end Hotels, living in the Hotel. It's a Cast System. They loan other extended Family money to buy Hotels. It has gotten so large, no one really knows how much they own. But estimates say the Cartel owns 50%+ of all low to mid price Hotel Rooms. The Cartel has now grown into the Mid & High End Rooms, such as Holiday Inn, Four Seasons, Marriott. The Cartel started their own Legislative Lobbying Group just for their organization.
Just because the Person doesn't directly have hands on ownership, doesn't mean they aren't financially invested in the Hotel Business.
Just to see how extensive they reach, if you remember the Police Officer recently charged in the Atlanta Wendy's Shooting...His Step-Mother was HR Manager for a Large Mortgage Company HQ in Atlanta, & was fired after her step-Son was Charged. That Mortgage Company is owned by a member of the Cartel. Equity Prime Mortgage is listed as a Foreign Owned LLC & proclaims to be one of the Largest Minority owned Mortgage Companies in the US...by KP Patel.
Here's another game that's played by the Cartel. In many declining Cities with old large buildings, there are revitalization Grants for a Company to come in & renovate. The largest building in Meridian was sold several years ago for the nominal fee of 10k. The Group that purchased it is Ascent Hospitality out of Buford, Georgia, Owned by Nash Patel. Tupelo Hotels 1031 Acquisition II LLC shares the same address. They have purchased buildings cheaply in Birmingham, Montgomery & other Cities. They state their intention is to convert it to a Courtyard by Marriott. Downtown is not where You want a Hotel, even with a Convention/Arts Center there. If you look closer into the Grant terms, if it proves unviable as a Hotel, the owners can convert these buildings into low income apartments, subject to receiving subsidized housing vouchers. So the Group doing the investing has very little money or risk involved.
There are newer articles, but this was the 1st.

Why do these people at Green Oak keep bitching, moaning and enduring Jackson crime? Do they actually think something will one-day change? Why the hell just not shut the hell up and MOVE?
Her staying in Jackson is all on her at this point. Tired of whiner/criers.
@4:27,
How 'bout "I was here first" or "I am a contributor to the check book of Jackson, MS" or "Why the F!^& should some low lifes that refuse to be productive citizens get away with stealing stuff I worked for so hard" or "Mr. Mayor, do your job and clean up this city"?
Do you need more? I'm sure I could come up with a few more. Green Oak has a place in Ridgeland and I doubt they are having these problems there.
3:28 - Check around. Panhandling, Hitch-hiking, begging for money or gas at Wal-Mart....all are crimes in Madison, The City. Try any of them...but do bring a change of clothes. Next?
Next year is an election year, so she should run for Mayor or City Council (assuming she lives there).
To 4:07pm, your lengthy post only exposes your ignorance, not your intelligence. It is true that the Patel’s and others with Indian heritage have had great success in the lodging industry. It is because of their work ethic and their willingness to pool their money to help others with an Indian heritage succeed. I have loaned the principals of Ascent Hospitality several million dollars on new hotel projects and am well familiar with them personally. John Tampa is not of Indian descent,I seem to remember he is from Croatia or a nearby country. He came to this country to participate in the Olympics as a skiing marksman. He started with nothing. His partner, Nash Patel, is the grandson of Mahatma Ghandi. He also came to this country with nothing. If more native born citizens had the work ethic of these two this country would be much better off.

Anti panhandling will gone shortly everywhere in MS.
https://www.aclu-ms.org/en/news/discriminatory-panhandling-ordinances-overturned
@6:53 You are correct, but entirely too politically correct. You should have changed your last sentence to say something to the effect of "if people would get off their ass and work for a living, this country would be much better off".
That and visas and tax loopholes
Not just motels- bumpers (once Sonics whith Seti) subways, now gas stations
"Green Oak has a place in Ridgeland and I doubt they are having these problems there. August 19, 2020 at 5:05 PM"
Probably because the place is always empty, gated and locked. It's nothing more than a firewood-haulin' junk-yard.
KF, may I suggest that you help Karen by researching laws and ordinances that deal with abandoned buildings, vagrancy and panhandling in other States and cities.
After deciding which ones work best, both of you can arrange meetings with our Lt. Governor and Mayor and the presiding City Council member and present those proposed changes that will empower the city to better solve these problems.
I'm quite certain that there are people in building code enforcement who would be thrilled to help. When I've spoken with them, they are frustrated that they can't demolish buildings after decades of non-compliance by owners. Nor can they fine and obtain money from owners to pay for whatever actions have to occur to make the property safe.
Believe it or not, there are also those in the construction industry and legal community that want to empower government to go after those who are irresponsible in building and maintaining property.
There are no teeth in our laws. Madison got to start with a blank slate in many areas, but frankly, in a few decades, they too will find themselves facing the same problems.
Sadly, as you both can see from comments, there's a constituency that wants Jackson to fail. As a result, the legislature caters to that constituency.
There are also those who seem not to understand your " rights" stop when you infringe on the " rights" of your fellow citizens by reducing the value and safety of the property of others.
We linger too long in problem identification...that's politically appealing to politicians but it doesn't get anything done.
Don't blame the Indians (the India Indians)for taking advantage of the economic opportunities that so many of our white and black citizens ignore.
For the people who live in Jackson: why do you stay? What keeps you there?
Personally, I left 5 years ago. I thought I would regret it, so it took me a long time to make the decision. The only thing I regret is not leaving sooner.
It seems to me that the writing is on the wall, the city is irredeemable. I hope I'm wrong.
8:23 AM
You clearly don't know what you're talking about because the other Green Oak Florist is by Majestic on Highland Colony.
Green oak's ridgeland location is actually very nice
@6:52 @ 6:53...You personally have loaned the Patel Motel Cartel money? Then you know what I said is true. I didn't see you deny the Grants received, in some instances, 25% State & 25% Federal Grants, Plus additional HUD resources. If you search for crime associated with Hotels owned by the Patel Cartel, what do you find? Prostitution, Drug Dealing, Shootings, Drug Overdoses, Sexual Assault, Sex Trafficking, Human Trafficking, Tax Evasion? Even Slave Labor.
In 2015, the Cartel challenged a Los Angeles law aimed at combating crime in low end hotels.
The ordinance required hotel operators to record and keep information about guests’ names, addresses, vehicles, and more for 90 days, and make it available to the police without a warrant at any time of day or night. There are similar ordinances in over a hundred cities across the country.
The Cartel won. In that case, it cited 70% ownership of hotels by the Cartel.
Just like the Mafia, they have reached a 2 tier system, where the top tier operates at a higher standard, but they still have the monopoly on low end Motels where the most lucrative product is catering to the Criminal element.
I only saw you address the fact you loaned money & benefited from your interaction. Most people in your position would immediately come to the defense of their revenue stream. After all, you don't have to deal with the problems caused by the low tier Cartel enterprise. I already knew Nash had a partner, many do. But Nash calls the shots. KP Patel has a partner in the Mortgage Company, but KP calls the shots.
I didn't see you list the officers in the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (Formed to Lobby for the Cartel). There's even a book written about them...Life behind the Lobby.
PS...its not just the US...
We can't ignore Priti Patel's background in lobbying...
Britain's now former international development minister sits in the centre of the UK's dark money-funded think tank-lobbying industrial complex
Caste not Cast
As long as Ms. McKie remains in that location she will continue to loose customers.
But that's her call.
9:55
You clearly don't know what 8:23s talking about.
