It is what it is.

We're getting there. I don't think it is a coincidence the numbers started getting better about 2 weeks after the statewide mask mandate Tater issued on August 5. Hopefully this trend will continue.

Real men take deep unimpeded lungfulls of God's air while eating rare beef steak. Little athiest soyboy wimps wear their cuck muzzles and tattle tell like children and karens.

I'm guessing the stats may reflect improvement because testing was interrupted by the two hurricanes.

But I do hope the downward trend continues.

Actually started to decline July 30th around the time it hit about 20% infection rate. Estimates say that 10x more people have been infected than the positive test. MS hit that around July 30th. 7 day rolling average has been in decline since then and now hospitalizations are following as expected. Community burn out is the reason, not mask. The virus is following the same pattern just about everywhere including other states and regions. Virus going to virus.

Seems closing bars down has reduced the numbers, cause we all know people ain’t wearing their masks like they are supposed to be doing.

Labor day is upon us, let's see what happens October 1 to 15...even then if the RT stays below 1, we can't drop our gruad.

I wonder if guy Karen’s will ever realize your mask does zero good. Seriously they have studied masks for 40 years. The flu doesn’t ride on your water droplets. They have known that since the 70s and it has been confirmed over and over again. You have been duped and the sad thing is all you had to do was google it until about a month ago. Talk to medical doctors, they will explain it to you.

In response to 9:13: First of all, Covid-19 isn’t the flu. Second, the flu does in fact spread through respiratory droplets. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/disease/spread.htm

Improvement? Mississippi now ranks 5th on the New York Times list for cases per 100,000 people per day, up from 6th place last week. How is that much improvement? Stand back and get the big picture. When else do we get to be number 5 out of 50? And deaths recently saw a big spike. Geez.

@9:13, I did talk to my doctor. He told me to wear a mask.

What's the price range for one of these Facebook-type medical degrees?

Not to worry about Labor Day. Mistletoe Marketplace is the next big spike.

By the way...that huge cemetery on the west side of 49, south of Pocahontas sometimes has as many as five blue tents up and 150 cars on any given Saturday. I believe they only have Saturday funerals. Place is a for-sure Hunan Factory.

Do these numbers include all the false positives? I know people who test positive, but have no symptoms and get retested and test negative. Does the first test still count? (That’s a rhetorical question. I’m sure it does.) This is all BS. The government will have us wearing Chinese masks forever if we leave it up to them.

Sheep die like the lion does. One writer is correct, Covid is a flu, more like a really bad cold. Heard they are freaking out about a few getting sick a second time. Tell me, honestly, how many here on this site have only had the flu or a cold once in their life. This is cyclic and will cause symptoms over and over again vaccine or not.

12:57, cases are meaningless. Hospitalization and intensive care due to covid is dropping like a rock. The apex was about a month ago. Deaths are dropping also now though case mining is happening. We are on the back side of this just like the rest of the south and California. The south has performed way better than the Northeast did in NY,NJ,MASS, and CONN.

Actual cases are ten times the number of tested positives. We are closing in on her immunity when counting tell immunities.

10:15: When cases per 100,000 are so much worse than other states and retains a high positivity rate it shows plainly that Mississippi is still in a Covid crisis. Herd Immunity? At 18% with the antibodies nowhere close to the 60 to 80% required. “Tell immunity”? No, having had a dang cold or the flu doesn’t mean you can’t become plenty sick or have your first visit to the ICU where no one can visit you. Stay in denial if you wish bit do not drop your mask lest you become an asymptomatic spreader to your friend and family at home, at work and in church. It takes the cooperation of all to beat a virus. Don’t cooperate and be rightly damned for it by those wanting to be protected from the virus and who can’t know if you have it or not. Your denial helps no one including yourself because you need others to wear their masks as well.

Anonymous said...

Mask aren’t worn correctly by 95 percent of the population. What we are seeing is herd immunity finally at work. The mobile part of the population has all gotten in and it is has no where to go.

Anonymous said...

11:34: What is your evidence that "what we are seeing is herd immunity finally at work" as opposed to people finally wearing masks more consistently? There is NONE! What we do know are the studies that show that two people wearing masks effectively prevent an asymptomatic COVID-19 carrier from transmitting the disease. Further, less than 18% of Mississippians have the antibodies for fighting COVID-19 from the available data. THAT is what we KNOW. The virus must be quite happy about your continuing to spew such unfounded speculations. After all, all that the virus is looking for is one human host (likely asymptomatic) without a mask in proximity to another human host without a mask. That's all that matters to the virus. It cares nothing for you unfounded speculations and will not stop for them. The virus knows only how to replicate relentlessly by infecting as many healthy hosts a possible.

What's the name of that bar where if you toss-back twelve rum-shots they give you a certified medical degree in a frame? It ain't Shuckers - I asked there and they run me off.

Covidiotcy about masks is the highest risk factor for unintenionally getting your own scorching case of COVID-19.

Anonymous said...

Heard anything about anything else out there? CAD, DM, CA, Psych Disorders, Alcoholism and Drug Abuse? Covid is a joke we have all walked into. High rate of survival.

Anonymous said...

Sure there are plenty of other things to get badly sick from, and you may survive Covid, but your parents or grandparents might get really sick when it could all be avoided if everyone wears their masks and keeps their distance. Cost nothing to avoid it but inconvenience.

Anonymous said...

8:25 - Your post is laughable. High rate of survival? That's like saying 'More people will remain alive tomorrow than will die, therefore death is no big deal'.

Or you might understand it this way: "Fewer people will be hit by a vehicle in the crosswalk than those who won't be, so looking both ways is a joke". Are you with me on this yet? Nope. Didn't think so.

Anonymous said...

8:25: COVID-19 may seem like not much to you if you are younger, but you have to understand that anyone, even children, can transfer the virus to their parents and older Americans whose lives could become ever altered by this blood borne disease--affecting the heart and other organs, and most of all, neurological systems including the brain, perhaps for life. If you are younger and think you can disregard or discount COVID-19, you are recklessly playing with a fire that can hurt a lot of your family and friends.

C-19 is a blood-clotting disease. There is a lot more to it than simply death or no death.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
