Virus? What Virus?

How does one handle a Covid-19 shutdown? Simple.  Have a block party.  So much for Little Lord Lumumba's decree that no one should have fun in Jackson.  A streetball tournament took place last weekend, complete with a city-issued permit. WJTV reported:

Is it Groundhog Day?

It would be interesting to see the date of the permit. Anyone have a bottle of "White Out" (nothing racial about the term)?

Love the picture of the police car in the distance blocking traffic.

The mayor is a clown.

Anonymous said...

Now that’s real leadership there. Never his fault. Takes no responsibility. Looks the other way when confronted by violations that he’s really not concerned about.

Martins is still full of maskless fat old people....covid susceptible laughing hyenas picking on people who dare to wear a mask.

Suffering and death await all who enter

What the hell did 'lil Chokwe think was going to happen. It has been proven time and time again you absolutely cannot depend on the responsibility of the citizens to act properly. The permit should not have been issued in the first place. Don't give them a chance to screw up, the consequences are fatal.

If you have a valid permit, aren't all participants immune from the virus? Right?

"It's a football game daddy, can we stay and watch?"

Personally I could have used more footage of the hoop game and less of the mayor and flea market.

Once again, where are the snarky leftists to mock these people? Why aren't you calling them freeDUMBS and Covidiots? Why is your vitriol only reserved for libertarians and conservatives? Hmmm, it really gets the old locomotive tooting!

The folks calling Covid Deniers and Conspiracy Theory Mongers "FreeDumb" are NOT leftists. That's what you don't get.

It's folks with an IQ above room temperature. Veterans. Members of the Greatest Generation. College graduates. Youth group leaders. Hard core Republicans. Country boys who can do math and run a farm. Bosses. Business owners.

In your little imagination, unless you're driving a F250 lifted pickup with Trump's face plastered all over it with double Rebel flags from the back of the cab, with an enormous beer gut, two AR 15 toys to brandish at imaginary enemies, you're not "conservative." And, yes, I drive a truck, own 38 guns, at last count, and am from a very very small Miss. town.

And the sad thing is that it's YOU that are NOT CONSERVATIVE. You're a LiberaLtarian Anti-Gubmint Anti-Science type who has more in common with Dem voters in Marin County CA (antivaxxers) and Antifa (anti GubMint) than conservatives.

Well, we are conservative, far more than you. We have BIGGER guns than ARs, better guns, more time in the woods, more lines on our DD214, and have been there through thick and thin as conservatives. You hopped on the AntiGubMint TP Bandwagon as a brainless sheep, and it feels good to screech about "FreeDumb" from the "tyranny" of a cotton mask that might save someone's life.

You get called "FreeDumb" because you can't differentiate between a mild, if any, inconvenience, and oppression. And that IS Dumb. Really dumb.

Have you seen the cove at the Trace Overlook on any weekend? Same thing, except with boats instead of basketball. People everywhere in Mississippi are stupid. Lumumba acknowledged the mistake in issuing the permit and apologized.

Anonymous said...

Anyone ever hear what happened to guy with the guns at Lumumba's presser about guns? He catch a charge or was just another stage prop for Antar?

9:38,
You are projecting so much into 9:09's very simple question. It really betrays some potential mental health issues. You might consider speaking with a specialist.

Anonymous said...

9:38 You might want to consider switching to decaf....

I give up. Someone let me know when it's all over.

There is no excuse for having a block party like this during this pandemic. It shows that Ignorant and irresponsible anti-maskers come in all colors, ethnicities, and political affiliations. However, white, Cult45 conservatives make the most noise when displaying their defiance over the “loss of their freedom” over a very simple request from their government.

Now class, please note the post at 9:38. This is the best example of a bigot you will encounter today. Please, take the time to study this post. A test will be given later on in this material.

Too many Fawn Lebowitz's involved. They need to go back to making pots.

Kingfish, there is a PSA that has played on MPB where several black community leaders talk about wearing a mask and how important it is. The mayor of Jackson speaks in it and tells everyone to wear a mask. Would love for this to be posted.

This post went live at 8:00 and at 9:09 someone asked "where are the snarky leftists to mock these people?" It's almost like someone rushed to get the comment posted before people had a chance to write something that might contradict the assumption behind the question, which is that "the left" refuses to look at itself and hold its own accountable. In other words, "the other side is a bunch of phonies, and therefore invalid"

If you really want to see what "the left" thinks, i.e., people who tend to be militant about following the CDC guidelines, give it a day. Or, if you can't wait that long, take a look at the comments to the post from Wednesday, titled "We Are Invincible."

Anonymous said...

@9:38, for all of your schizo ranting, you failed to answer the question that 9:09 asked. Why don't you ever have vitrol for block parties, hip hop concerts, street races, etc where face coverings are disregarded?

Anonymous said...

Perhaps I should sue the city for denying my permit...

Anonymous said...

I should have written "the post from Monday," instead of Wednesday. My bad.

Do as I say, not as my friends do. This whole thing has become comical between this type of behavior and the we are all gonna die crowd. Just everyone get this shit and get over it.

Sigmund Freud, you aren't or you'd known the judging an individual's or group of individuals behaving badly isn't bigotry.

And, 11:18 am ( falling into the trap of proving 9:38 am's point) should've been able to comprehend the anger with people who don't followed CDC's protocols and especially the hypocrisy of those who politicized mask wearing claiming to be " conservatives". He's saying their bad behavior shouldn't be used to define " conservatives" and he resents that their bad behavior lumps all conservatives into a group of people behaving badly and saying ridiculous things.

How silly all of you are to leap to a conclusion that those angry with CV 19 deniers aren't angry with all of them! How truly dumb as charged to assume only "liberals" are wearing masks. I actually know more conservative Republicans ( liberal Democrats of either color are actually pretty rare here, moderate Democrats hard to find in any group of white folks)wearing masks. Indeed, I think if you asked a white mask wearer here if he or she was Republican, 90% would answer white.

As for me, I see a few with masks ( good for them, but sigh for " dumb" when their nose isn't covered or they pull it down to talk), a few without (ignorant or dumb or crazy for sure no matter the color or group affliation). They are individually advertising themselves as such.

Like 9:38, I assume ignorance, but if they announce it with their words and deeds, I get to assume crazy/stupid/easily fooled and possibly dangerous. The same goes for those vandalizing or stealing in Antifa garb or BLM garb. Those are people I think are immoral and hurt their group cause.

It was a bad decision by the city. This actually could have probably been done safely. It's past time for requiring enforceable plans for gatherings of humans based on guidelines.

If you don't want people to think you are stupid or chauvinistic or a racist or a facist or crazy then don't behave or speak or dress like you are. It's that easy.

Anonymous said...

Ok so as much flak as "we" give him, he did take responsibility and admitted that he and the city dropped the ball. Wish that other politicians would do the same on other issues....

The Lumamba Derangement Syndrome may be more contagious than COVID. He must haunt the dreams of quite a few posters here.

Never ceases to amaze me at the number of blowhards who bash out comments resembling manifestos.

Look, don't you have the cognitive ability to get to the point in 20 words or less?

Not sorry but I ain't reading your diatribes. I just keep on scrolling.

Anonymous said...

12:25 Naw, we are just sick of this hubris filled, incompetent mayor.

Anonymous said...

Why does 9:38 AM and 12:05PM seem to read like the same pseudo intellectual continuing their unhinged manifesto?

Anonymous said...

@12:54, try not to let it consume you. When people get so obsessed over politicians, nothing good comes ever from it. Just remember that no matter how badly you want Lumamba and Jackson to fail, it’s not worth ruining your mental health.

Sigmund Freud said...

Dissociative identity disorder is often found in people that feel guilt from their own bigotry. To find relief from this guilt, another personality is constructed in the mind as a way of escape. The post at 12:05 is a classic example of this disorder as one personality rises to the defense of the other personality which is the poster at 9:38. Please, note this post and study extensively, for it also will be included in a future test.

1:33, they are not the same person. And, why does it seem unhinged to you? Projection, sweetheart.

Everything normal and decent seems unhinged to the actually unhinged.

Wear a damn mask. Wash your hands. It is not big deal. It is not political. Just do it!
Stop social gatherings. The virus is spreading unchecked. (18-29 year-olds = faster growth of new cases. you are not bulletproof!)
There is no cure. Preventing spread is MUCH more effective than supportive care.
This is not just a COVID patient problem. We are struggling to find hospital beds for ALL patients who are ill or injured.

Health care is doing its part. Now do your part. #PleaseDontMakeThisWorseForUs

Guess what "unhinged" (LMAO) "pseudo" intellectual wrote that?

"Don't you have the cognitive ability to get to the point in 20 words or less?" in 46 words. SMH.

And don't wear your mask. Just mosey up to the bar and inhale next to people.

Funny observation 3:16, but 12:47 still has a point. Maybe the cap should be 50 words. Long rants are annoying.

My husband and I just got home from an office visit with his oncologist. We were told to expect a letter explaining that I would no longer be able to accompany him to his appointments, infusions, and IV chemotherapy treatments. This new policy is due to the selfishness of so many people who refuse to wear a mask, who continue to gather, and who neglect all the other preventive measures. Battling cancer is tough enough, but now the families who used to sit with and offer comfort to our loved ones will be sitting in a car in the parking lot. Waiting and wondering. Borders on inhumane.

If something as simple as wearing a mask is too inconvenient for you, God forbid you ever have to face what we face every day.

" Fawn Lebowitz "

Laughing my ass off.

That was funny.
I had forgotten about that character.

"Back in the Day", there were girls just like her that lived on every college campus in the nation.

Some of these "Fawn Lebowitz" types were actually pretty fun after a few drinks.

1. They weren't meant to be arguments.
2. See #1.
3. Thank you for setting me straight on that.
4. Adults should behave like adults, not undisciplined children.

@ 5:04, you must be filled with so much hate and disdain that you cannot look at your worthless being in the mirror. How dare you downfall and degrade a family in time of need. Until you have been in this situation with a person who is terminally ill then you have no idea how hard your words hurt. Until you have had to place a loved one in a wheelchair going to treatment knowing that soon they won’t be here, you have no idea how much hurt your words cause. I hope you sleep well at night with such a hateful inner soul. Yes, life is hard and no one said it was easy. But, to lose a loved one to cancer or any other disease for that matter is painful beyond belief. This lady just wants to sit and comfort her husband but people like you are the reason we have so much discord in this world. I hope you sleep well tonight and lay off the drugs and alcohol and maybe you can think clearly you miserable person.

@8:31
Womp Womp
People used to keep their personal struggles personal. Now everyone wants to tell the exhausted cashier at Walmart their life story and wear it like a badge of honor. Get a grip.

Anonymous said...

Hey 5:33, I don’t think the lady was telling her struggles just to be getting attention. There are lots of people like her who have the same problem. If it means we need to wear masks to eliminate this junk going around then I guess we need to.

Why has no one asked said...

Let's imagine taking the current Covid-19 pandemic off the table. Suppose it never happened, doesn't exist.

Question: Why would a City issue a permit to close a major public thoroughfare so that portable basketball goals could be placed in the street for a "Community Basketball Game" and street vendors? How does this even happen?

Anonymous said...

Well mr 5:04! One day when you’re creeping around on your walker, I’ll be the one who kicks it out from under you. Them I’ll laugh and say, “Life ain’t easy”. Then I’ll smile and walk away laughing. Or is that too much for you to handle? Karma is a bitch, baby

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
