Nursing home deaths comprise 50% of overall Covid-19 deaths in Mississippi. So we're on a good streak of the highest amount of reported cases and deaths, which is 2 weeks after we eased into opening....Seems like a great time to end all restrictions.

Same ole, same ole. Closet dwellers staying in out of the sun thinking they are going to live forever and others outside enjoying life.

9 out of 10 who have been tested- test negative

Record cases? OPEN 'ER UP BOYS!

You know why the positive rate is so low? Because hospitals are testing everyone who is coming in for any kind of procedure. Some people have been tested multiple times. The fact that less than 10% are coming back positive is not surprising given that Dr. Dobbs said last week that only approximately 2% of the state population has gotten infected so far.

Give it a little time as people let their guard down, start gathering in big groups, school starts back, and the expected fall wave hits and you'll see it grow quickly. The mitigation worked, let's pray people use a little common sense going forward to keep it from getting out of control.

We'll never go on lockdown again.

The bed wetters get to comment first. How much is your laundry bill?

Can somebody please remind me how this is any different that the flu? Just think if we as a society had reacted to the seasonal flu, every year, like we have the wuhan flu. If we have learned anything out of this whole mess, it's how important living a healthy life style really is. I hate it that so many folks have suffered and died as a result of covid, but our response to it could have been handled so much differently & better.

Dem Democrat Mayor's looking smarter everyday, I told you boys it was gonna happen.

They are approaching one per thousand deaths of all citizens in Lauderdale County. That would translate to 2700 in Mississippi. We are getting there at a rate 100 per week. That exceeds the number you predicted of 1500.

Excess total deaths point to the number of deaths from the virus at about 25% higher than what is currently being attributed to it. Also, even going with those lower numbers, the U.S. has 28% of the world's dead from the virus. We have 4% of the world's population.

As has been reported in multiple places by multiple people who have studied this for their entire lives, if somewhere between 60%-80% of the population would wear a mask that is at least 60% effective (i.e., cloth masks like doctors have worn for more than a century to prevent infection), the virus's transmission rate would drop to a rate too low to sustain itself. We could beat this virus by this fall without a vaccine and without closing the economy. Pure ignorance, fueled by political opportunists, is literally killing us.

if you are sick, stay home. otherwise, it seems ok to resume life...

3:21 Seasonal flu infects 50 million and kills 50,000 despite a vaccine. Nobody has immunity to Covid and the death rate is around 0.5%. You’d have 200 million infected and 1 million deaths if it were allowed to run rampant. Even more if a hospital got overwhelmed like in Italy.

Real risk is those that are asymptomatic and expose the elderly or somebody with serious underlying condition(s).
Yep-got to open back up, but, need to see a vaccine ASAP...then, we can really go back to normal.

My prediction is that any vaccine is going to be as worthless as the yearly influenza vaccine, but will make some people billionaires, with the CDC's and politician's help. Some politicians will also reap some financial benefits. Follow the money.

I haven't had the flu in 40+ years, and have only had the flu vaccine three times during that time period. Each of those three times I have had a mild to severe reaction.

No more vaccines for me.

Y'all shouldn't expect the COVID-19 vaccine to do shit, other than make a few people filthy rich, and to provide false hope to the sheeple.

Some vaccines may be helpful, such as polio, pneumonia, and shingles, but they are the exceptions.

New England Journal of Medicine: We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes). The chance of catching Covid-19 from a passing interaction in a public space is therefore minimal. In many cases, the desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic.

@ 3:26. The total number of cases is 14,790. The virus has caused 710 deaths. The current percentage of ill in this state is roughly 0.51% with the percentage of dead based on the ill is 4.8% with the overall percentage dead for the state being 0.02%. Never mind the rest of the world, as they don't affect us. Literally killing us? Please, take a breath for your sake.

Friday numbers. 492k Tests. By far the most tests in a single day. 23k Positive.

Some people should be tired of shoveling dirt on to this molehill. They are here, also many other places, every day. Their stamina is astounding.

@3:21, this is WAY different from the flu. The yearly seasonal flu isn’t usually used as a way to implement crushing authoritarian communist rule and real time surveillance

Again @3:47..Read closely and pay attention..vaccine for elderly and those at risk..not for
Medical marvels like you (40 years ha) / you obviously don’t need crap.

The paid trolls sure have zeroed-in on this Blog! One would hope that they, or the entities paying them to pump-up the HYSTERIA and FEAR and SKEWED STATS, would remember the blogger when it's fundraising time. Alternately, they could maybe rent some ad space?

Why did UMC post 29 new jobs on LinkedIn today? A day after the massive layoff?

" The paid trolls sure have zeroed-in on this Blog! "

Hey 5:36 PM, you're right.

But give the lil' trolls a break.

They invested $2.56
to become a JFP/VIP.

Plus they have no more "creative space" to return . . .

Fondren and this self proclaimed (Mid Town Area) are not really doing too well in the big financial picture.

Walker's will survive.
Perhaps the little creatives can wash dishes there ?

"Why did UMC post 29 new jobs on LinkedIn today? A day after the massive layoff?" What were the positions and how much less than the people they are replacing? May be self explanatory.

The bed wetters are the ones who haven't the self-discipline to follow sensible restrictions.

That those who do, can't enjoy the sun or life in general is nonsense. We can wear a N-95 mask and sanitize and go anywhere that is following guidelines.

I don't go into crime ridden neighbors at midnight or drive 100 miles an hour on mountain roads or eat at a restaurant where flies are swarming over the buffet or sit on a filthy toilet. Being senisible and realistic, is not the same as fear.

The bedwetting " my rights" people are no different from those looting and burning in the big cities. You are the "refused to be governed" people. You can't figure out how to protest without inconveniencing others and aren't articulate enough to persuade others or offer solutions. You are the people who are self-centered and thoughtless in all areas of your life.

Neither the extreme right or left protesters that are destruction have offered any sort of constructive plan or rational demands for solving the problems they say they have.

Both extremes simply are ungovernable because they refuse to be governed . They have no self-discipline or ability to see why an agreed upon set of rules is the only thing that prevents conflict.

They are the " my way or highway people" and the bane of mankind. They are like toddlers having a tantrum.

Leaders have plans and solutions. Anarchists have slogans.

You need to be told how to live your life.... by being 'governed'? How did you grow up?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
