Nursing home deaths comprise 51% of overall Covid-19 deaths in Mississippi.  More information and a complete list of infected counties can be found at the MSDH website.

Sorry, but I feel an Asteroid or Solar Flare will destroy mankind before this even gets close.

We are going to have to completely rebuild our government when populist amateur hour is over.

Ok, I'm done. No more hearing about Covid 19. For you people still freaking out, I'm so over you. You're idiots.

I'm moving on with my life.

And Fauci needs to know that the spotlight is burning out... so he might as well enjoy it.

@1:31(1) I am certain you honestly believe #44 was better than #45. Get a grip.

@1:31(2) Fortunately for you, we are still required to save your life and care for you when you become infected.

So, you have no concern over almost 700 fellow Mississippian dying or 101,000 fellow Americans dying. Ok. Got it.

Kingfish said...

I have concern. I predict it will be 1500 to 2000. I don't go by IMHE anymore. That estimate has literally been all over the place. It was 300 something, then down to 237, then up to 403, than it fluctuated in the 300's, then jumped up to 1,500, now its not even offered.

We will get a vaccine when we get a vaccine. There is no guarantee that one will be developed. It might happen next month, next year, or never.

We are just going to have to accept it for what it is and that is take some practical measures such as protecting the vulnerable populations such as nursing homes, diabetics, and others. In other words, we are going to have to take our lumps from this bug.

Anonymous said...

KF. You go ahead and take your lumps. But, thankfully, you are not in charge of determining what needs to be done for the common good.

Have all of the decisions that have been made by those 'in charge' been correct, accurate, and the best? Hell no. You can go from one extreme to the other; and then of course you have to go to the 'beyond extreme' of Gov Cuomo and put the ill in with the nursing home population - but those that have to decide while its ongoing, not in hindsight, the actions taken have clearly kept this virus from becoming a medical disaster to ALL of us, not just the vulnerable that some are willing to kick to the curb.

And, BTW, your prediction is absolutely no better, and probably not even close, to those made by folks with at least some degree of scientific/medical/epidemic education and experience. You MIGHT be correct in your estimate; and if you are --- congratulations. I'm sure you will let us know about it. But, you may well be wrong, and if so your 'estimate' will mean absolutely nothing. It didn't cost anything for you to make it, and there were no public affecting decisions made because of your prediction.

You make notice of the estimates made by IMHE and how they have been 'all over the place'. Did you make any predictions way back when this first started? If so, have your predictions been constant during those weeks? Or have you waited until now and make your prediction while noting that others have been inconsistent?

Awfully easy to be a back-seat opinion offerer, its just too bad that IMHE and others didn't have that option

I watch this one. https://covid19-projections.com/us-ms

It says 3,000 by August but it assumes the infection rate increases due to the greater than average increase in mobility. Prior to that it was showing around 2,000. We’ll have to see what happens. I hope most people will take reasonable precautions. Community spread is the greatest enemy and is what could lead to another reduction in allowable business activities. It is in everyone’s interest to do all they can while still leading a normal life.

@1:41 It's disappointing that the quality of my health care depends on who I vote for or my personal beliefs.

So if somebody indulges in junk food, would you refuse to treat them because they didn't live the lifestyle, or would you do it only because you are "required" to do so?

It's not just my health care, but all of us should be concerned with that approach.

Holmes County is a hotspot right now. Lots of Memorial day drinking gatherings under shade trees had to be broken up.

Anonymous said...

Absolutely agree with you, KF! No need to set dates or time limits when this will end because they are all just SWAGs. Take each day as it comes, help those who need help, and adjust accordingly.

Have we just given up on the idea of contact tracing and containment? A lot of our counties still have outbreaks that could be controlled, it seems to me. Not without a lot of labor to gather the info and communicate, but I think people would volunteer, and if not, aren't we paying for this one way or another anyway? I'm not talking about anything coercive. Just set up a tracing system, protect everyone's info, communicate to those that have been exposed that they should self-quarantine, monitor the infected (with their consent). I have watched my county grow from just a few cases to what is increasingly becoming an uncontrolled outbreak completely in the dark about where and how transmission is occurring. Can local leadership not take on this task, if nobody at the state or federal level is going to?

1:31, it's pretty clear you are the weak one. Not the Green Beret Medal of Honor winner who died of Covid. Or the younger doctors and nurses. Or the chemo patients.

But I guess it's like being a POW versus getting five draft deferments. You are probably a real tough guy. (Blowing coffee out my nose at the reality of that). Have a nice day, hero.

!:41 and 1:43 are perfect examples of why I'm done with it. Like mind numbed zombies, they assume that we want people to die. That's stupid and brainless and I don't want to participate in their stupidity anymore.

I don't want people to die, but I'm not going to go around applauding my self because I preach self righteous mantras like "Stay home save lives". Geez, smoking kills, I don't have to tell every smoker to quit smoking. Does that mean I want them to die?

I'm not on the stupid road holding signs saying "Speed kills, slow down", does that mean I want people to die?

You stupid people are losing more and more people every day. I have no respect for the people I know in my regular life who are out there saying that stupid stuff, and I promise, your friends are losing respect for your self righteous selves as well.

I'm done because of people like you.

What's going on in Madison County? It doesn't look like nursing homes is driving their number.

Kingfish said...

I have no scientific education? Glad you know so much about me. I was predicting 1,500 or more when IMHE was predicting 300-400. Didn't publish it here but I said so to quite a few people.

@2:36
If you'd seen Plandemic, then you would care.

Gonna be worrying to see where Hospitilzations will be in the middle of June.

2:36

Why do you assume people that think wearing a mask in public is a reasonable effort to slow the spread of the virus are "self-righteous" and go around applauding themselves?

Oh. That's right. You can't answer because you are done.

Never been prouder of the KF than seeing his display of common sense here today.

The opponents are squealing (as usual) that "if you don't agree with me, you obviously don't care about me and others".

Did he say that? Did he even allude to anything remotely close to that. Of course not. People just don't want opinions and positions other than their own.

Gosh, so many people have really lost it.

Dear Dr.Thomas Dabbs,

Your county "The Free State of Jones", are you ashamed to call it a Hot Spot?

No balls!

Jones and Wayne county are being eaten up by the poultry plants.

Same as central Mississippi.

2:50, About Madison County, whatever is going in the number of cases in the black population is rising much faster than among whites. The number of cases per day among blacks is several times that of whites. Cases among nonHispanic blacks rose by 22 from May 24 to today. The increase among nonHispanic whites over the same period was 8. This trend has been continuing for some time. And often with even more disparity in the rate of increase of cases between blacks and whites. I don’t know the cause, but it is troubling. The question I have, is there anything more that should be done to try to slow the spread in the black community in Madison, because something accounts for the difference, and probably several things.

Notice on MSDH's website that 863 cases are children. Of those,238 are under age 5. And, we now know how they may suffer from inflammatory disease.

So, you Covididiots ( who are the " I don't care, it's no big deal", remember you are making children needlessly suffer because you won't tolerate anybody telling you anything you don't want to here.

Anyone who doesn't know "Pandemic" is BS needs to get out of their cave.

@2:05 and all the other virtue signalling SJW zombies:

"the actions taken have clearly kept this virus from becoming a medical disaster to ALL of us,..."

Can you point to any scientific evidence that would indicate that these 'actions' have proven effective?

You state that KF's estimate may be wrong and it didn't cost him anything. What cost is being charged against those who predicted doom (and still do)? You think Fauci is going to lose a paycheck or a federal grant?

It's obvious that the readership here is skewed toward a higher percentage of liberal wackos than MS would suggest, given that this state is full to the brim of clear-eyed and realistic thinking people.

@4:07 I'm pretty sure you're misreading 2:36's comments. I don't see where they said wearing a mask was self righteous. It seems they were talking about accusing others of wanting people to die.

Although I could be wrong, I did not get my education in Mississippi so I might not read good

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
