Teacher? What Teacher?

Sources inform JJ that the Madison County School District placed Madison Station Elementary teacher Savannah Reis on administrative leave with pay.  Mrs. Reis is also a coach at Performance Elite Aquatics.  Her picture appeared on the Madison Station website last week:

However, the page no longer exists.

she no longer appears on the list of first grade teachers at the top-rated school.

JJ attempted to contact the Madison County School District.  No representatives of the district returned the phone calls.

Swimming USA suspended the swim coach for allegations of misconduct on July 24.  The organization is the national governing body for swimming in the United States.  Swimming USA's website states  the suspension is "interim" and alleges she violated the "safesport code."

Ruh roh. The plot thickens.

Is that the only picture anyone has if her?

Probably just a record keeping mistake. She was taking measurements and got a pool-shoe size wrong. The USA ORG is real picky about details.

Since this is sports related, she can always enroll in that Tiger Woods program down at Hattiesburg.

KF, this is going to a lot of attention. You may want to consider consolidating this post.

Considering where we are in this country now, this could be anything from full scale sexual abuse to an over enthusiastic hand shake. Whatever it is, her life will never be the same.

KF, I have zero connection to this teacher or school, but why is this relevant to this "audience"? Of course no one returned your call. Are you kidding?

As long as we bashing Jackson, it’s all good start asking questions about people in other communities, nobody understands the point of the story, interesting

2:45, It is professional courtesy to at least give a reporter a "We do not comment on ongoing personnel issues" If Madison County is going to employ a full time public relations person on the taxpayer dime, they should return calls to reporters.

A true journalist would give all the facts.

I love when Kingfish makes posts like this, because it's so much fun to read all of the anonymous righteous indignation in the comments. Keep em coming!!!

@3:05 tell us the last time there was a post here about a JPS teacher being suspended and/or fired before allegations were made public. It hasn’t happened. Stop playing the victim.

She taught my son in the first grade years back. She was very professional and organized and was a great teacher. She was accountable to the parents and stayed very engaged. I have no idea what any of this is about, but the comments here show how bad humans have degraded, at least in Mississippi. You self righteous indignant jerks will get what you have coming for all the negativity you continue to pour into humanity while you hide behind your keyboards. I don’t have a problem with KF posting an issue of concern that usually wouldn’t come to light, but I wish my neighbors and fellow Mississippians would be more positive and uplifting rather than relish in someone’s difficult times.

Miserable people wallow in misery. Just take solace in knowing that most of the folks that put others down on here only do so to feel better about their miserable lives (including myself).

@7:22am....Totally agree with everything you said. But in an atempt to explain - I believe in this instance, and others on a larger scale - why so many in these modern times are so quick to tear down or degrade "good" people when they make mistakes?

It's due to the false personae and image of so many millions of folks that people want to uncover. Happily married, with four perfect children, and gorgeous?....just can't be true. Today, if you're the "All-American" type, it rankles millions who had a shitty upbringing, and will never "have it all" as so many have been promised over the last forty years.

Today's generations are deeply suspicious to "too good to be true" images and stories, so when a crack is possibly found in that narrative, many love to pounce.

Yes it's a very sad commentary on today's society, but I believe quite true. There have always been "scandals"....but with the pervasive social media, blogs, and 24/7 infotainment of today, we hear about it much quicker, and more often. When growing up in the 60s/70s, things happened, but it only affected that person locally as a scandal....and primarily by word of mouth after one newspaper article or some short, one-time mention on a news station. Now - every story is repeated constantly, could go "viral" and get lots of "clicks".....so cha ching from advertising dollars!

Now - Thank God for Kingfish, otherwise MS would absolutely be in the dark ages....however, he isn't stupid - he's a businessman as well.

7:22 pm only seems " self-righteous" to those who have abandoned common decency.

We all used to understand and embrace the basis of most all religions which is to treat others as you would want to be treated.

Now the nastiest , most mean spirited gossip and worst bullies are lauded.

Still employed. I wonder what the Rankin PD would have to say?

Funny, you are expecting people in a country that elected the most vulgar and loose lipped human to be president to actually be positive or at least keep their mouth shut when the investigation has not been finalized? Don’t get your hopes up! However, unless you were there or actually know the outcome of the investigation I don’t see a point in speculating just cause you are bored. Church is tomorrow so maybe everyone could start there by praying for anyone involved in this matter at hand or for yourselves to find the inner peace you deserve.

Give me a break, people thirsting for and reacting to scandals is nothing new- (see Shakespeare). Nor, is public outcry, hyper sensationalism and over punishment (social and judicial) - (see the crucible). The human tragedy is ageless. And no the 50-70’s were not any better, hell, Jackson had a very similar but much more severe tragedy in the 70’s and Susan Lucci made a movie about it! Only differences is the speed and reach of the medium that the press, town crier or the community use to disseminate and to discuss the tragedy. A certain amount of public shame and negative consequences helps prevent future tragic poor choices with severe negative outcomes. Due process almost always lags behind outrage, calls for overt punishment and mob dynamic candidates.

3:47 pm Witches and heretics were burned at the stake in Shakespeare's and the government supported those acts.

You are arguing that we shouldn't aspire to correct the heinous behaviors of the past.

And, your argument for ostracism and outrage as tools is fine , but not if those tools aren't used strategically but become form of cultural entertainment ( see burning at the stake and lynching).

Please learn to distinguish between an apple and an orange.

@3:47 Agreed, but at no other time in history has a person who has led a life of integrity, and built a lifetime's reputation of character - be forever ruined by mere allegations once they go "viral".

"Doxing" definition: to search for and publish private or identifying information about (a particular individual) on the Internet, typically with malicious intent......and that can ruin one's reputation overnight, even if you're complete innocent. (See the Mueller Probe that was the largest attempted coup in U.S. history (televised mind you) and that found no evidence implicating its target, yet the true intent was to delay the administration of a new government, and disparage a duly elected president from doing their job most effectively.)

Social media can be a cancer...in immoral or mentally ill hands.

@10:16 am
I couldn’t agree more. Madison people love to gossip... but say it’s wrong in the same breath. They don’t want to offend outwardly but slam you on blogs like this. Please give this woman and her family the benefit of doubt until the dust settles. No one, NO ONE, knows the real
story but her, the swim authorities, her family, and the school. If the principal at Madison Station is talking, she should be held accountable. That’s the only place a leak could come.
JJ, you have some good paralegals and detectives that find stuff out! What software do they use?

Squirt toothpaste in a bowl. Now try and put the toothpaste back into the empty tube. You’ll say you can’t.
You should remember this plate of toothpaste for the rest of your life. Your words have the power of life or death. As you go into life, you are about to see just how much weight your words carry. You are going to have the opportunity to use your words to hurt, demean, slander and wound others. You are also going to have the opportunity to use your words to heal, encourage, inspire and love others. You will occasionally make the wrong choice; I can think of three times this week I have used my own words carelessly and caused harm. Just like this toothpaste, once the words leave your mouth, you can't take them back. Use your words carefully, Breonna. When others are misusing their words, guard your words. Make the choice every morning that life-giving words will come out of your mouth. Decide tonight that you are going to be a life-giver in life. Be known for your gentleness and compassion. Use your life to give life to a world that so desperately needs it. You will never, ever regret choosing kindness.

Let’s be kind to this family.

Uh, 10:10 a.m., what the Hell are you blathering about? In all Shakespeare’s canon of works, there were no “witches and heretics burned.” Have you discovered heretofore unpublished treasures from the Bard?

2:09 - What's this got to do with Rankin PD. If you meant Rankin S.O., the same question applies.

9:00 - Pull your britches outcho crack! The poster meant to say in Shakespeare's TIME but left out the word TIME. Chill, Godfrey.

My daughter was supposed to be in her class. We were informed via letter few days before school started that Mrs. Reis would not be starting the year, and until her return she would have a substitute. They will not acknowledge or respond to any of my questions., and for all intensive purposes, she doesn’t exist. However, when I ask my child if they’ve said anything her response is “they just tell us that one day she’ll just walk in the door”. We are scheduled for parent teacher conferences today, but I have yet to receive any communication. As a parent, I am angry, confused, and continue to lose trust in the integrity of this school system.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices.
