No one forced these people to enter into the United States illegally. Imagine entering England or Germany or CHINA illegally. Asylum is not granted on the basis of an economic hardship. Our congress and senate must act quickly to SECURE THE DAMN BORDER and provide a pathway for citizenship to those who are already here. Let's face it, there's no way they can round up every single person who crossed the borders not through legal means. Give those folks a social security number, make them pay taxes and offer them a better life in the United States as full citizens. Lots of hard workers out there with no SSN and no work visa. Pay them fairly and make their work county for something in the federal tax system. Also, punish the employers who refuse to do adequate citizen checks on foreign workers. They are equally to blame. But stop the flow of people across the borders. Parents who attempt to enter or who have entered this country without going through legal processes have subjected their families to the negative consequences of...breaking the laws of a foreign country. It's a shame to see these children crying, etc. But it's also a shame to break the law.

I have to go on a business trip to Mexico in two weeks. Anyone want to speculate on what would happen to me if I landed in Mexico City and just strode past the immigration desk without stopping on my way to ground transportation? You can believe there wouldn't be a bunch of Mexicans waiting there to feed me and help me hide from the government.

Why must things be "either, or" instead of "both, and"? We must enforce our laws, but that does not mean we can't help those affected by enforcement of those laws.

Everyone is raising hell about the timing of the operation - maybe they could have waited a week or two - but I've not seen anyone mention that if these raids had happened BEFORE school began, all those kids would have been unattended for an ENTIRE DAY while their parents were processed. At least they were in a protected environment for most of the day. It seems like ICE was trying to process people as quickly as possible and maybe they thought they could get through most of it in a shorter amount of time...I don't know, I'm not privy to any higher knowledge. I've just been thinking through all aspects of this event and tried not to make a knee-jerk response, which it seems most people would rather do.

There are consequences to every action. Unfortunately, innocent children are ALWAYS at the mercy of the consequences that result from their parents' actions. The same is true for the drug addict, thief, adulterer, or the parent that does everything in their power to provide for their family and keep their children safe. Whether good or bad, children have no choice in the consequences for the actions of their parents.

True compassion includes accepting the reality of what is and still reaching out to help someone in that situation. We must stop arguing among ourselves, accept what is and work to try and figure out solutions to fix things.

All I did was post some information on how to help some people and some of you just couldn't handle it.

We must enforce our laws, but that does not mean we can't help those affected by enforcement of those laws.

Catholic Charities and Catholic Churches in general are a primary reason these people exist here. Those organizations have harbored and offered sanctuary to these criminals for half a century. It's not unusual for industry to utilize a Spanish speaking church member when having to terminate one of these guys following notification from the feds that his numbers showed up hot on the payroll documents. And what do these church members always say, "Sure, we knew he was illegal when y'all hired him. We knew he had fake documents."

It is a great pity about the children, but if this is what it takes to finally, once and for all, convince the hordes to enter legally or STAY HOME, then, so be it.
