Tate mentioned that he had garnered several "names" during his tenure. He didn't mention my favorite - "Little Emperor"

The 50 pounds he's packed on in the past decade disqualifies him from that moniker. More like: "Big Softie" .

Why are the CMU commissioners not required to pay back the money they stole? Why Mr DA?

I see the 6 losers in West Ridgeland that are still butt hurt about Costco had filed another appeal. Absolutely more money than sense. Hell, one of the original objectors felt so put out the he moved out of state.

The part of Mark Baker's ad that says "Trump Conservative" makes me cringe every time I see it.

We need some coverage of the south delta flooding, and why the EPA and environmentalist groups are directly responsible for this happening. They x'ed the installation of the flood control pumps after the Steele Bayou control structure was put in. Basically its a bath tub stopper at this point.

I hear all the voter fraud defendants in Canton plead out except the gal running for justice court judge.

Lake Caroline folks should show up at CMU with pitchforks and demand answers. Or show up at the Public Service Commission en masse. They are being raped and cheated, and they seem to be enjoying it.

Does Bill Waller, Jr. have a legit shot at governor?

Who is this Don Drane feller who stirs the pot constantly in Madison County?

Will Adams and Truly soon be breaking bread together at the county chow hall?

I’m very thankful for a resurgence in our economy. I’m 54 and I cannot recall when it has been this good. So let’s think positive, but I know here will be detractors.

Anyone aware of news in Canton about Chamber/Main Street programs being mis-managed and in financial distraught as well as the Redevelopment Authority no longer being funded by City? These entities need to be audited going back 10 years and employees and board members held responsible for mis-use of time and funds.

A 17 year old was walking down ridgewood road in northeast Jackson this week and was shot by a stray bullet. Definitely a ghetto.

What's up with all the promotional ads for the Jackson Airport and the City of Jackson...with Jackson's very own comedienne Rita Brent? Really? Who is the intended target? Jackson's spending money on promoting "My Jackson" (which is a bit of exclusivity right there) while the infrastructure...oh well, you get it.

3:25 PM The pumps are a flawed idea which would do nothing to solve the current problems. Climate change is accelerating the process of returning a lot of the land back to nature.

Inquiring minds want to know when the BIG STORY about redistricting is EVER going to be posted. All we’ve been hearing for weeks is “more to follow. be patient”.
Well, it’s time to put up or shut up, KF. You sound the Dems yelling about Russian collusion before the Barr Summary. Crickets now from both the Dems and KF. Hmmmm

@ 4:00 p.m. - to answer one of your questions, in my humble opinion, Bill Waller indeed has a legit chance in the Governor race, and we are fortunate that he chose to seek the office.

5:56 - when you say "Climate Change," do you mean cold or hot?

One of the worst things that happened to this country was when JFK was assasinated and that Hick took over....free stuff for everyone and it only gets worse.

I recently moved from Madison MS to Denver CO. The weed in Denver is much better.

Tate Reeves looks like a little boy. Acts like one also.

Who would have a definite list of the number of people living in downtown Jackson? People are living in Standard Life, King Edward, the Electric Building, Lamar lofts, and maybe other locations.

Anonymous said...

Looks like Costco has a permanent hold on the construction of the building. What gives. Didn't they announce in 2014?

Anything new on the little girl whose been missing from Madison county for years? The one whose mother they put in jail for something unrelated and trivial right after her daughter went missing?

Anonymous said...

8:19 - I counted today - 23 people living in downtown Jackson - although it may be 22 - one of them may have been on a sleepover.

I am a recent “brain drain” evacuee from Jackson. I was a little scared to leave my home city because it is all I’ve ever known. Once I got to my new city I realized that I should have left a while ago. I tried, Jackson. I volunteered. I came up with ideas. I tried to help. Nothing worked. In my new city I am appreciated and everything just fits. The only thing I miss about JXN is people like the Barksdales and Emersons who have means to make the city great, friends, Keifer’s feta dressing, the independent schools, Rita Brent, and all the people who are actively trying to make it a better place. I realized there are bigger and better things out there. You don’t have to be afraid of being robbed or blowing a tire. There are restaurants on every block. Your neighbors aren’t all racist assholes. No state tax! You can do what you want and the state actually cares about you. In semi related news, im sad to hear about Seafood R’evolution closing. That food was fire. Their drink menu was off the charts. The risotto was so so and the kids pasta was the absolute worst but aside from that Jackson actually had a great thing. That menu was always exciting and fresh. I’m happy the Emerson fam is opening up in that space. PLEASE go support these guys. 10K square feet is no joke. I think I am finished for the night. Peace up!

On AG candidate Mark Baker's social media ads, he claims to be an "Experienced Prosecutor & Judge." He prosecuted misdemeanors - NOT felonies and for a very brief time he was Pelahatchie municipal judge until he was reminded that he was violating the separation of powers doctrine by simultaneously being a legislator (legislative branch) and municipal judge (judicial branch). FYI - I am not one of his Republican AG candidate opponents and the only choice worse than him is the ACLU's Democrat Jennifer Riley Collins.

10:09 here. To clarify, Mark Baker did felony initial appearances and preliminary hearings BUT he NEVER got anyone convicted of a felony.

KF...do a little research on why the JMAA runway improvement project has been grounded. It will very interesting what you find out. Borderline stupid in fact. Hint: IMS

10:03, anybody who really left wouldn't be up at night posting on JJ. That would be a really sad thing.

6:20 - You would prob have to have an investment account to appreciate how good the economy is going. I know living paycheck to paycheck sucks but you can get out of it - I promise. Unless you are some underemployed millennial progressive. Your barista job may or may not ever pay enough for you to have an investment account. I am a millennial, just not underemployed or a progressive and my investment account has gone up 11% since December! I mean my investment account isn't huge but dang! Try not to be a bitter loser and join the club of self responsible adults. It's not an age requirement just a maturity requirement. You don't have to buy a new subaru every four years you end up spending 25% of your after tax income paying for it like that. To say it another way, you work at the coffee shop one week a month just to pay for the transportation to drive back and forth to work.

Since this site attracts political junkies and partisans, I'd like to make a request.

When you are at a social function, could you please not opine about politics or, for those also religious, proselytize?

It really is disrespectful to assume those you are socializing with are too stupid to make their own political decisions without your help and/or that they are heathens.

Most of us , when at social functions are trying to escape the woes of the world and just have a little peace and fun with friends.

I am a Republican teacher who is not votingfor Tate Reeves. He has turned his back on us. He has really been disappointing.

Anonymous said...

Tate managed to get multiple tax cuts for small corporations and now we have no money to fix bridges or improve roads. What a dumb move. I’m glad Waller is running and he’ll get my vote over Tate. P.S. Pheel helped get those tax cuts too!

Anonymous said...

Senator Terry C Burton was found not guilty on February 26!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Tate, Phillip et al were able to get those multiple tax cuts mentioned by 1137, resulting in this year's tax collections to have increased by over $200 million. And, by the way, small corporations include many individual families that are operating as LLC's - not just some unnamed bastard entity.

But tax cuts stimulate economic activity, and has been shown, result in increased revenues. And provided almost a billion more dollars to be spent on bridges and state roads.

Actually, a very smart move.

And, Waller's running for Governor will provide a little interest over the next few months, but won't turn out to be a positive result for him come August. (Increasing the gas tax, increasing by a third the expenditures on Medicaid are the only two positions he has publically stated thus far, will be interesting to see what other policy stances he takes during the summer.)

How do you transform Jacktown into Jackson? By getting rid of all of the non property owners aka renters.

Anonymous said...

To the millenial whose investments have gone up 11% in the first 3 months of 2019.

Yes, but you didn't mention the stock market dropped 10% in December, 2018.

Big boom last week in south Columbus left an abandoned house burning in a neighborhood. WCBI showed up and shot a few seconds but never talked about who the property belonged to. The Commercial Dispatch failed to cover the explosion which shook the windows in my house 4 blocks away. When checking land records we find that the property belonged to none other than Robert Smith, mayor of Columbus. The Smith family is also known to be dealing most of the drugs in Columbus too. Why no headline news? What are they hiding? It's about time for the Feds to show up in Columbus and do a little digging. The city is in financial ruins now and they are wanting another 1% sales tax so they can finish an amphitheater where they squandered the funds on pet projects instead of the theater. The criminals are running Columbus these days.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell.
