Victim Tied Up in Northeast Home Invasion

JPD issued the following statement.

Jackson Police are investigating a home invasion that occurred in the 4000 block of Northeast Drive.

Shortly after 4:30 pm, officers responded to a residence there. They later learned that two unknown black males had entered the home armed with a handgun and demanded items from a male occupying the home.

The homeowner later arrived and observed an unknown vehicle in the driveway of his residence. It appeared that he interrupted the act and as police were being notified, both suspects fled; one in a silver sedan and one a dark gray pickup truck.

The dark gray pickup truck, described as a late model Toyota Tacoma, was stolen by the suspects and belonged to the male occupant. The silver sedan, described as a late model Hyundai Sonata, matched the description of a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

There were no reported injuries.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call CRIME STOPPERS at 601-355-TIPS(8477).

Kingfish note: The father of the victim's friend posted this message online.

I Support The NRA

Report will be downgraded to 'joy riding'.

I oppose the NRA. There is no reason we shouldn’t have background checks on all gun purchases. Unlike the NRA and it’s supporters, I don’t believe terrorists, felons, and the mentally insane should have access to guns.

Long Live The Second Amendment said...

It will be downgraded to trespassing with a $100 fine that will never be paid.

Lock and load. Exercise your Second Amendment RIGHTS at all times.

When seconds count the cops are minutes away.

NOTE FOR KF: How about toning down the Captcha crap a little? It shouldn't take 4-10 images to prove one isn't a robot!

LOHO residents need to look at closing off some of the streets that access Eastover Dr. It might add 2 minutes to leaving from/coming in to home but that would be a big step into securing the neighborhood.

as usual there will be a GREAT hue and cry for MORE cameras---cameras do help catch bad guys but SOOOO WHAT? these worthless SOB's aren't put off by cameras when they KNOW they'll get off scot free!! police do a good job in Jackson but the DA and judges are the PROBLEM!!! lock and load!!

@8:10

You're exactly right about JPD, they have done a good job in the past. They've in fact done too good and Antar is trying to now get them under "control". Hey northeast Jackson rich folks...BUILD MOATS around your castles...it's your only option ! FOOLS

A gun is a tool, Marion, no better or no worse than any other tool, an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

7:31 Under current gun laws it is illegal for felons, "terrorists" and the mentally insane to own or purchase weapons. Perhaps we should enforce those existing laws before we create new ones.

Anonymous said...

7:31am is trolling hard or an utter and complete moron. We already have extensive back ground checks. Criminals, terrorists and the insane don't BUY guns. They can't. They STEAL their guns or purchase them from other criminals.

8:06am....I believe they already tried that, but were denied because it would be racist or some such nonsense.

With all of the talks about solving the "brain drain" of people leaving Mississippi for better opportunities. It could also be said that it is because they are smart enough to see things like this happening and move to a better and safer place.

Solution re robbery, especially a home or car invasion: Stay armed and make certain your story is the only one told. That will cut down on the little gutter rats who think they can invade the home of another without consequence. Let's face it, no amount of JPD patrol cars will stop this type of nonsense.

Firepower and caliber don't mean a damn thing if someone gets the jump on you.

Theca Jones of the Roguish Gent Podcast said...

Something we agree on Kingfish. Too many people think gunplay is like an action movie.

Anonymous said...

The victims are lucky they didn't get executed.

Both of the robbers should have been killed by the father and left laying in the driveway for channel 3 to get some good video shots.

I am a member of the National Cannon Owners Association. I want to let everyone know that private ownership of black powder naval guns, siege cannon, and other infantry artillery are complete legal to own. There's also no limit in quantity of guns or cannon caliber. Check your localnordinances for restrictions storing blacl powder. God Bless the the founding fathers and the 2nd Ammendment.

I support the NRA, but what I don't support is sending me some BS DVD and then telling me I have to send it back or I will be billed for it. I cancelled my membership after that.

This seems a little suspicious to me. I know this area very well, and it's not the sort of place that a random, midday break in would just occur, particularly with people at the house. This happened to a teenager. My [completely unsupported and speculative] hypothesis is that this was a drug deal where the perps decided to rob the buyer. Happened between the time kids get out of school and daddy gets home from work. Kid texts dealer; dealer decides to rob little rich white kid. That would make far more sense to me than some random incident.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. If you’re stupid enough to live in the ghetto when you have the means to leave you get what you deserve. The father should be ashamed of himself for willingly and knowingly endangering his family. If he wants to endanger himself that’s his problem. But he shouldn’t be intentionally putting his family in danger.

Fuck off.

It’s a little surprising that most of the commenters here don’t seem to know that private sales of guns don’t require a background check. You can go on a site like armslist and find a gun for sale locally and there will be no background check at all. I guess the NRA is doing their job of misinformation.

I wonder if the friends parents knew he was over there. I would be furious if I found out my son was in that part of town.

Here is the problem with guns and the people that use them. I own about 10 guns but I realize that I need to safely store and use them. Not the bandits but kids now days believe that the video game crap is real life and therefore shootings are not a big deal. They think that if they get caught doing something that they will get out of it because it's always been an excuse made for every situation and in most cases mom and dad come to the rescue. 35 years ago if a problem arose you had to learn to deal with it and not try and go out to do something so you are own youtube. Prisons should be made harsh for even minor offenders so they don't ever want to come back. Think back you older people, in 1985 did we have this kind of violence? We feared our parents, school teachers, police and we tried to walk a straight line. I believe that social media, video games and parents that want to be our buddies has brought this on us. Their is no benefit in free speech being able showing worldstar fights and how to build a bomb. i think it just encourages this type of behavior.

@10:25
It is also currently illegal for a felon to get their girlfriend to straw-purchase a handgun for them at Bass Pro Shop or Academy Sports. But if you watch the gun counter long enough, you will invariably see a male pick out a pistol and have his female companion purchase it for him. You will never stop criminals from getting guns with more legislation. There are already enough laws.

"Perception of crime"

Anonymous said...

@10:59 That must mean you never dine at Fine & Dandy or Cantina Laredo. You would never go in the law offices of Baker Donelson. You probably won’t even consider visiting the new food hall that’s about to open. You also wouldn’t dare step foot in Northminster Baptist Chruch. That part of Jackson is going down real fast. So fast that new businesses are opening left & right. But by all means, stay inside your bubble & please, whatever you do, don’t go south of County Line Rd.

Wiseowl said...

I agree with 10:13. More to this story. Awaiting the who what when where and why to this story. Will probably only be posted here by a neighbor.

Perception of new businesses.

10:25, actually buying off a website you have to have the gun shipped. Shipping firearms is a crime. The only way you can purchase and ship a firearm is from FFL to FFL dealer. When you go to pick up, you have to fill out the and complete a background check.

Anonymous said...

Its all fake news. This does not sound random. It only makes for good headlines.

Anonymous said...

1:02, actually when I said “locally” it implied a local sale not a sale across state lines. Not sure why you are correcting me when the statement I made is 100% accurate. Background checks are not legally required in local private sales. I don’t see how any gun owner would be against such a sensible change like requiring a background check to buy a gun.

Anonymous said...

1:02PM - that only applies to handguns, not long guns.

Anonymous said...

2:13 - people who sell guns to other people are no more interested in background checks than people who sell trucks to other people are interested in automobile insurance coverage for the buyer.

Anonymous said...

@5:46 PM - that is bovine scatology, but for pin heads, that means BS.

Anonymous said...

" I don’t see how any gun owner would be against such a sensible change like requiring a background check to buy a gun. "

Too bad you weren't around when Jefferson and ol' Ben Franklin and them were trying to set up a government. That whole Second Amendment would have been so much better if we had more, as you say, "sensible" stuff in it. Why, we might have gotten out act together and made something of ourselves if we had smarter guys like you writing our Constitution.

This same thing happened a few years back in Madison at cypress lake subdivision. My ex wife just moved there 3 days before. She was so scared she was more paranoid than usual. Needed extra klonipin that month. Sad to see these things happen. I love not far away from the house here.

Anonymous said...

For y'all blaming the victims - shame on you!

Anonymous said...

9:05, your comment reeks of jean shorts and dirt driveways. Clearly you are ok with selling guns to terrorists, the mentally insane, domestic abusers, and felons. When you see children getting slaughtered in school, you feel nothing. For the rest of the normal people, there are certain safeguards we feel should be put in place to minimize the risks to the general public. Things like assault weapons (the real automatic assault rifles) and making sure people buying guns aren't criminals likely to shoot up a school are reasonable requests. I'm sure you could probably get around the well regulated militia part as you likely belong to at least one back woods organization, but for those of us living in populated areas, we would like to have some basic enforcements before handing over an arsenal.

Lock & Load said...

I find it humorous that the anti-gun/lib/progressive crowd always blasts the NRA, but it isn't even the most effective pro-2A organization. There is at least one other but y'all are too brainwashed and stupid to figure that out.

Morons!

@12:45 is a typical MS redneck. If you cannot be stupid like me, leave MS. Pitiful.

Anonymous said...

I'm surprised how many here are against background checks on gun purchases. The numbers I've seen show the overwhelming majority of gun owners in support. I guess it just goes to show how dug in people are and how unwilling they are to listen. Eventually the unwillingness to compromise with the majority opinion will end up costing gun advocates far more than the loopholes that are currently being discussed.

Same thing happened a few years back in Madison at cypress lake neighborhood. Woman was tied up at gun point. I live in NE Jackson and I like the convenience. This has happened in both Madison and Jackson in recent yrs. Stop the bashing. Gets old. People can live where they like to live and opinions of others aren't wanted. Who gives a rip your thoughts. It's a nice area and probably more to it than we know now.

Anonymous said...

@2:49 PM Being called a redneck is a compliment, so you will have to come up with something more cerebral, if that is even possible.

Anonymous said...

Congrats 3:30, you found a similar instance in a nice area (except or cops actually caught the peeps, just a few minutes later). This happens every year in Jackson. And the crooks are never caught. Please stay in Jackson, so your neighbors will continue to rob you and not me.

Anonymous said...

@11:53, GREAT RESPONSE! I just don’t get this area. People seem so narrow-minded and unwilling to work towards a better state and capital city-they just want to toss out their history.

Crime Is Everywhere Equally and Stuff said...

Love it when The Crime Yodeler appears (3:30 pm) to remind us 'there was a crime in Madison 3 or 4 years ago too'.

What does "Perception of crime" mean? Seriously.

Anonymous said...

The cops didn't catch them for weeks after in Madison. I agree that I don't u derstands this state either. Lived here 11 years since finishing residency program at UMC. In Chicago area all subburbs supported Chicago and hoped and watched it so well. My guess is that it's due to race. Jackson is much more black than Chicago is. Chicago is only 23% black and getting fewer and fewer each month. But maybe it's just my outside opinion as to why people are anti Jackson . To be fair I live in Meadowbrook highlands and I don't have the everyday struggles of the other areas of the city. Just my opinion.

Anonymous said...

Do not understand what this serious crime has to do with gun laws. As to the comment where one lives, no place is safe, and everyone has a right to be safe in their home, vehicle.

Anonymous said...

Hold On! You came here 11 years ago from Chicago to do your residency and stayed? Please tell us where your chiropractic office is so we can go elsewhere.

I am not even from the state of Mississippi but I have lived here for about 2 years now. I'm from Colorado and the liberal west coast yuppies moving to Colorado in drives are shocked at how gun friendly people are out there. Most recently tried to ban several guns used for large game that the state relies on for revenue. These people have no clue. I hear the same about the ones moving to Nashville and Austin Texas. All are shocked and afraid of gun laws in the state being so friendly as opposed to only the cops having guns as they say it should be. Gun control is horrible. Look at Switzerland little crime yet every house hold owns a gun. Honduras murder capitol of world atrick gun laws. Baltimore, Chicago... etc... never has gun control been successful where it was tried.

NE Jackhole, err, Jackson is very safe. This was a one off event, and maybe even a simple misunderstanding.

Stay where you are; don't move to Madison County. You would not like it up here, as it is too cold.

Move along. Nothing to see here.

@9:07,
I live in jackson and my 3 kids attend private school in ridgemand I also drive to sports medicine 2 days a week in madison to see patients. Don't act like your someone better than me. I live and work in jackson because i can afford private tuition at st. andrews. Your a madison resident who gives a rip. You probably rest my beach house for a week every year as well. Stop acting like your better than those than can afford Jackson and enjoy it there private schools country club lifestyle etc. Go back to your middle income stucco house and your public school booster group.

@10:17
Come on Doc, you had me going there for a few and I was actually on your side but, you have convinced me, with your writing that there is no way you have a medical degree and if you do, God help us all. Let me point out a few errors in your post. First, I think it's Ridgeland, not Ridgemand? Second, "your someone better" should be "you're". Third, again "Your a Madison resident" try "You're". Fourth, "probably rest" must be "probably rent"? Fifth, "your" instead of "you're" better. Sixth, "that can" not "than can". Seventh, "their private schools, not "there private schools". Geez, you should have settled on a 2 year degree at Hinds. My English teacher would have ripped a paper with those errors so bad that the red ink would have looked like blood dripping off a table in your office. Try again!

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
