The Mississippi Department of Public Safety issued the following statement.
The Mississippi Office of Homeland Security will soon be under the new leadership of a familiar face.
Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Marshall Fisher announced Wednesday that Jenny Williams, the current Director of the Mississippi Analysis and Information Center – also known as the Fusion Center – will take the reins at MOHS on December 1.
Williams served as director of MSAIC for two years.
“It has been a distinct privilege to serve as the Director of the Fusion Center. I am incredibly proud of the success of my team, and fortunately I will not be far away as the Fusion Center falls under the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security,” Williams said. “I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Mississippi in my new capacity as the Executive Director of MOHS.”
Williams has 31 years of law enforcement experience, having retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in December 2014. During her time with the FBI, Williams oversaw various criminal programs and worked closely with the criminal intelligence analysts.
Williams was recently selected as the National Fusion Center Director of the Year at the yearly conference in Virginia. She is married and has three sons, and is a graduate of the University of Akron.
The mission of MOHS is to partner with federal, state, and local emergency response personnel during both man-made and natural disasters, as well as working to prevent, protect, and respond to threats and acts of terrorism in Mississippi. It acts as the nexus for information sharing through the Fusion Center and leads efforts in prevention, preparedness, and response, as well as educating citizens through awareness and outreach efforts to train and equip Mississippians on how to stay vigilant and prepared.

I had the pleasure of working with Jenny several years ago when she was with the Bureau; she was a brilliant agent, an analytic thinker and the consummate professional. There is no doubt in my mind she will do an outstanding job in her new role. Congratulations Jenny!
Hope she doesn't piss Bennie off! He da Main.
Ha just another Fisher appointee. Nothing but feds running state government
Since analysis requires thought, isn't 'analytic thinker' redundant?
Fisher would love to be governor. Imagine the appointments!
@5:59, yeah, because state employees do such an amazing job.
Your comment about feds is probably aimed at Dowdy...yeah, he's a toolbag trading on his daddy's name, but Williams is a whole different breed. Those who really know her, know she's results oriented and will not tolerate incompetence on her team; she's politically astute and will listen to politicians, but will always do the right/legal/appropriate thing. Perhaps maybe you're a bit jealous??
Wow 4:11, how long did it take to come up with that lame ass comment? Since you're such a freakin' genius, why don't you apply to be the fusion center director?
Tough crowd! Had she been a MS political career insider, there would be objection from the cry babies on here.
So why’d the old director leave?
What happened to Mark McKee?
McKee was asked to resign by the Governor for a number of reasons, the most significant of which was his attitude - he had ego issues and couldn’t get along with critical agency partners. His lack of humility ultimately did him in.
An appointment made on merit...whaaaaaaaat?
Hold on! Phil Bryant had a problem with someone who displayed a 'lack of humility'?
Another empty kitchen? Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?
Governor Bryant appoints a known card carrying member of the Democratic Party. I’ve seen it all now
8:32, no - I don't think you've seen it all. What you will see is a director who is professional, level headed, fair and effective. What I'd like to see is folks like you being open-minded and considering the person and their accomplishments before prejudging them based on political affiliation.
"she's results oriented and will not tolerate incompetence on her team; she's politically astute and will listen to politicians, but will always do the right/legal/appropriate thing."
In other words, she probably won't last long.
Williams will probably serve through the end of Phil's term, I would imagine Jim Hood would want to appoint his own Homeland Security Advisor.

Maybe Bennie will come out of retirement. He's got experience.

It doesn't take a genius to spot 'superflous redundancy'. I bet even you could do it.
Very very good appointment. Jenny Williams will do a wonderful job and am very proud to call her a friend.
