Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Tina Clark, yesterday evening on Amanpour's PBS show.
Watch the segment. She backtracked on her identification of her "problem" in this state's electorate. The rest of her segment is quite telling.
Well, that was easy. She ain’t great, but at least she ain’t Espy.
What a choice for Senate: one represents the worst of the Mississippi GOP, and the other was too corrupt for the Climtons.
Good riddance Jeff Weill
Sclafani and Allen both losing is a big damn deal. Hinds County may now be truly lost.
This video is copyrighted and is for entertanment perposes only!
Not a good night for Jim Hood....
They laugh at us.
I'm not surprised by the outcome. It's still sad that the republican base is so wiling to accept whoever is trotted out in front of them. It doesn't seem to matter how terrible a person they are. On top of that, they all go along with these ridiculous conspiracy theories to somehow justify their actions. You can't make this stuff up folks!
Once again winning Hinds County proves to be absolutely meaningless in a statewide election.
Trump will finally get some help in the Senate. That is good news.
Hopefully now that this election is over, CHS will do the right thing and resign to allow someone more qualified who won't embarrass the state to take over.
Stupid ass Nate Silver on Twitter saying someone should primary CHS in 2020. Like he has remotely a clue how the MSGOP plays the game here.
Tomie Green, Kidd, Wooten and Faye Peterson. That's the ballgame Hinds County! You are totally screwed.
10:03...And the take-away is that Bryant almost cost us this seat. He put a country-bumpkin-dunce in the seat and almost handed it to Espy. Meanwhile; Sclafani, Allen and Weill are blocking Bryant's calls and wondering why the hell they accepted his 'help'.
#istandwithher
McCarty Gabe Weill an old-fashioned ass whoopin. 58% in Lincon County. 52% in Walthall, where Weill grew up.
Poor ole Maggie Wade. She looked like she could cry. The media is so liberal and biased and doesn’t even pretend to be fair any more.
I'm so glad it's finally over. I'm amazed at her winning by 8%. That's worrying. Phil almost messed up.
Stupid is as stupid does
~Forest Gump
Big picture, CHS still a nobody...
1019... Espy is a far cry from Hood.
Maybe the liberals should have hung more nooses up at the Capitol. That was a brilliant campaign strategy.
Yay for McCarty! So rare for the best guy to win in this state. He worked his tail off, too.
(Even my GOP lawyer friends who thought Weill might be better for their clients, thought he lacked character on the bench. And couldn’t remember his having any distinction in private practice.)
10:24, that is just ignorance. You do know that 25,000 people voted republican in the last presidential election right? That is not as many Republicans as Rankin or Madison (but very close), but it is more than 76 out of 82 counties in Mississippi. The number of republicans left in Hinds County is very substantial in an election involving the whole state.
Regarding the Hinds Elections....McDaniels will do a great job and is infinitely more qualified than Fike (who arguably lives in Louisiana). Faye Peterson will also do a fine job but Sclafani would have been a good one also. Peterson has experience of working in the DA office and she hates Robert Shuler Smith so we have that going for us.
The margin of the McCarty win was a shocker.
Tomie Green, Kidd, Wooten and Faye Peterson. That's the ballgame Hinds County! You are totally screwed.
Wow....a true Judicial Hall of Shame.
Now that that's over we can all wait for the dumb stuff that the Tweeter in Chief will say, don't forget he will be on a Worldwide stage this weekend, it should be harlarious.
Is this the most worthless Senate & House delegation in Mississippi history?
jeff weill is now out on the street and, god forbid, may well have to get back out there and have to practice law for a living. oh how he dreads that.
10:24PM: Oh Grasshopper, your written words expose so much youth and naivete. How nice this must be for you as I really miss the days of being so myself.
While the Republican party still has a long way to go with its McDaniel types too ignorant and prideful to have chosen CHS yesterday as both the turd with the least stink…and what was certainly best for them and certainly best for the country, more and more Repubs have awakened to the fact that Dems declared political war a very long time ago and to them, the end has always during our lifetimes, justified the means.
Eleanor Roosevelt, having discovered that her friends in the Dem party had bought and paid for votes, was shocked and appalled, but still very pleased with the results. Let’s not let a little integrity get in the way of winning an election now shall we?
Dem voters sent Chappaquiddick Ted Kennedy to the U S Senate for 4 more decades after he killed Mary Jo, and, and, and, and, and the list goes on and on and on. There literally was nothing ole Ted could do evil enough for his Dem constituents to not vote for him.
The list of examples could go on and on and on and on and on…so let’s just leave it at this: Many (not all) Repubs have finally realized that it is just not smart to make an ass of yourself by voting Perot (and handing the election to Clinton…by the way, leftist Dems didn’t seem to have a problem with the electoral college system back then, did they?). And it appears many of the McDaniel’s voters had enough brain cells to not stay home yesterday. Therefore, we are making progress!
So 10:24 Grasshopper, while your almost certain youth and without doubt naivete is cute, save your morality lesson scam for the ignorant too dumb to know just a tiny little bit about corrupt Democrat history.
I noticed Faye Peterson's name recognition was a bit off since all the scrolling updates called her by her first name, not Faye. However, a Faye Peterson by any other name....
She was a piss ant hack of a prosecutor and now she be a jurdge.
Matt Allen got his butt kicked, haha. Very comforting.
Chris McDaniel - please don’t run again. Six years is a long time to wait to replace this woman but God I hope someone good comes forward. She is a political sheep.
Jesus, people are talking Chappaquiddick the day after electing a completely brainless person to the Senate. How unhinged can this place possibly get?
Enjoy CHS, you'll never see her again.
Once again Melvin doesn't get close to understanding the significance of CHS' victory.
Mitch McConnell (can i call you mitch, buddy?),
You got some breathing room with 2 more red seats, now do what the hell you need to do first -- get all of the empty federal judicial slots filled and get ready for a third SCOTUS appointment by the prez. Jeff Flake will be gone soon and you have enough in the judicial appointment pipeline to keep busy until then. Nothing else your frat house (mixed gender of course...) does will be more important to this country's future.
Sclafani does everything right, but gets fired. He and Matt Allen don't have the one requisite to get elected in Jackson. I would say what that requisite is, but if I do, KF will cull this comment, so connect the dots.
6:53 No, it's not the worst delegation in Mississippi history. That's the sad thing about Mississippi.
You are so right @ the first 10:24. It's sad.
Y’all must remember that a white woman is always right in the land of Dixie! Proven fact.
10:11 last night -- It is possible Judge Jeff Weill will be appointed to the Supreme Court. We would gain a true law and order Justice if that were to happen.
The Democrats chose the patriarchy over women when they refused to support a gyno-American for Senate. They can talk all they want, but the only excuse is that they hate women. Looks like the party of Anthony Weiner, Al Franken, John Conyers, Keith Ellison, and Eric Massa is still as misogynistic as ever.
#ImWithHer #YesAllWomen #ToTheGirls
We've elected a woman who will be unwelcomed and ignored in Washington.
She won't be able to help Mississippians individually or collectively.
Corporations won't dare consider us.
Worse, whatever gains we made in improving our national image are erased.
The one that will hurt some of you most is that recruiting athletes just got harder.
Espy's value was in improving our image by demonstrating a willingness to overcome our racist past. His value was in Mississippi not been seen as a " gimme me" for the GOP. At least we'd have gotten something of value. Now we get nothing. Cindy Hyde-Smith gets us NOTHING.
Surely you don't think Trump needs to take her seriously or reward her? She owes him.
Again, we are our own worst enemy by being defensive about period of time that is indefensible. There will never be a justification or rationalization or humor in lynching, brutal murders, and denying citizens ( especially veterans )the right to vote no matter how you hard you try to parse it with nonsensical deflections. You are just preaching to a choir that sings out of tune.
Nor should we be so foolish as not see the Civil War as a tragic error and understand that we could not have been powerful enough as a Nation to face the future that followed or have prospered economically. And, we shouldn't be blind to the fact that the lack of cooperation and coordination between the Confederate States resulted in poor government, a non-functioning economy and a military where even the generals often fatality didn't cooperate.
Stop looking backwards . Stop looking at the flaws in others. Look forward and look in the mirror. Or accept nothing will ever get better fast enough to keep us off the bottom .
8;43
CHS has to run again in 2 years
@ 10:24 It's sad that the democrat base is so wiling to accept whoever is trotted out in front of them. It doesn't seem to matter how terrible a person they are, how many times he's been indicted, how many of his associates went to jail in connection with those indictments or how much money he took from from an African dictator who raped and killed his own people. On top of that, they all go along with these ridiculous conspiracy theories (like believing that every common, everyday word spoken by a Republican is some kind of "coded" racist remark) to somehow justify their actions. You can't make this stuff up folks!
If forced to embrace an evil JJ's reliably naggy troll, preaching today @ 9:54, finds Mississippi misogyny preferable to Mississippi racism.
It is already crystal clear for 2019:
[1] Whites didn't vote for Espy.
[2] Those whites are racists, or so we're told.
[3] Jim Hood, running for Governor, will seek the support of racist whites who didn't vote for Espy because he (Hood) can't win without their votes.
[4] Therefore Jim Hood only wins the 2019 election for Governor by seeking out, appealing to, asking for and receiving the support of white racists.
That is why Jim Hood was the biggest loser when the results were tallied last night.
10:11 I bet you voted for Trump too and you want to talk about folks being lead blindly, I guess you think he looked like Elvis when he was young, a better president than Reagan and deserves to be chiseled in on Mount Rushmore. You have lost your soul try to look in the mirror, I know you can't.
Maggie Wade is a worn-out dolt for reasons other than her disappointment last night. GOD with those arm gestures as she tries in vain to make her hands meet. However, consider the West woman on 16 who had to ride the election night desk while watching her husband's numbers tank and fade. He might have won had his ads not have featured his daddy.
9:18>>> Weill can’t get appointed as a a justice... Mississippi law says if you run for a position and lose the election, you cannot be appointed because the public has displayed a lack of confidence in your ability... happened to Malcolm Harrison after he lost... you cannot appoint someone the public has already said NO yo
Democrats have time to turn Mississippi, In less than 20 years whites will be the minority in the state if not sooner. I guess they will all leave, like they did public schools in the Seventies.
On the national level Democrats have out polled Republicans by over 9million votes in Congressional elections. Additionally they have made significant gains in Governorships and State Houses. This is important since they will certainly undue the jerrymanding that allowed the house to be run by Republicans for the last 4 sessions of Congress. Things are looking up and in 2 years this Nightmare will be over.
CNN: Perhaps many [Mississippi] voters took note of neighboring Senator Doug Jones, who campaigned for Espy. The Alabama Democrat ran against Republican Roy Moore who was accused of sexual misconduct with minors. Jones won in December of 2017, in large part by claiming he would serve as a conservative. However, since taking office Senator Jones has been a reliable vote for the Democratic agenda, including his vote against Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
In less than 20 years whites will be the minority in the state if not sooner.
Link?
@11:18 jerrymandering for Republicans? Like Bennie Thompsons District to cover the Delta, dip over to include canton and Jackson, but not the predominately white parts of Jackson. Got it. Solid ideology. Dang Republicans and their jerrymandering.
November 28, 2018 at 11:08 AM
Matt didn't lose because of his Dad. Three reasons. He ran a crappy campaign. The demographics of the Sub in which he was running have changed dramatically in just a few short years. The headwinds of the herculean Espy GOTV effort in Jackson were gale force. Even Weill running as an incumbent for re-election would likely have lost. We're at the doorstep of a Republican never winning any office in Jackson again.
Will be interesting to see if the CHS voters put Tate Reeves in the Governor’s Mansion.
We're at the doorstep of a Republican never winning any office in Jackson again.
Dorsey! Great news! You can run again and not have to worry about winning on better ideas and merit! You can also drop that charade of appearing to be a centrist!
12:08. As further proof, the previously "most Republican precinct and box in the state" was the Red Barn in Northpointe. It has moved to Christ United Methodist Church, and that area has gotten so AA, that Phil Bryant didn't even carry it. Northpointe, Lace Trace, all those areas are now predominately black. The demographics throughout NE Jxn have gotten "blacker" by the day. You are correct about "a Republican never winning any office in Jackson again."
12:12. You just ruined my day. I haven't thought about that. Damn....

Oh, there's 'value' in that White Guilt/Self-Hatred... the value of your holier/smarter/more self-righteous-than-thou attitude, same as that of the elites, a group which you may long to be a part of.
And, if 'image' is all that one cares for, then it goes that one doesn't concentrate on the real, concrete issues facing individuals and families. 'Image' is like an expensive car or pair of shoes: They look great when you're around certain (Beltway/Media) circles, but if your living (staying?) conditions are not in order, what is the point? Ego and avarice trump common sense all too often.
Finally, what do you mean by "forward"? Seems to be an oft-heard term today. Mr. Espy used in in his most recent speech. I'm curious as to what he meant, as well.
You didn't leave a name, by the way, for such a long, rambling post.
10:11 You hit the nail on the head. How can anybody understand why Blacks mistrust Whites so much. It's strange. Indians too. They are also strange.
Weill doesn't get appointed to the Supremes because he got his @$$ handed to him in every county he ran in. He cannot get re-elected if he ran after the appointment. No law says Bryant CAN'T appoint him to the Supremes when he lost to a race for Court of Appeals. Bryant WON'T appoint him because he is a bad judge who cannot win a contested election.
For all you Jackson haters: look at the results county by county on Weill. Hinds voted for McCarty by a large margin, but Weill lost every other county by substantial margins except for Walthall, where he just lost. McCarty outworked him, plain and simple. AND, he will be a much better judge.
9:18, 7 of 9 justices are already “law and order.” I look at the opinions every Thursday at 1:30. Seems you do not.
Appointing Weill to the bench above the one he failed to win would certainly be a Phil move, like that loser judge in Madison who promptly lost again.
... 11:18, they are two different offices, so I’m not following ya there.
Jackson is down to 7-9 reliable Republican precincts. 1-3 in Ward 7, the remainder in Ward 1. Through July 2017 Madison+Rankin population (versus 2010) has already grown +78% of another full MS House seat. Bill Denny's House District most likely to get gutted and sacrificed during next statewide redistricting when Jackson loses more representation. It's over for the GOP in Jackson.
@12:47 Carson backed Allen against Wooten. That won't be forgotten by Jackson's BPS.

Unfreakingbelieveable!!!!!!!!!!
Psycho JFP ties a story about the lawsuit over Frances Fortner's death to Donald Trump and the border wall. You are totally out of your f'ing crazy mind Ladd!!!!!!!!!!
Crabs in a barrel!
1:21 - you seem to forget that Hinds County includes more than just Jackson. Clinton precincts, Raymond, Learned, Dry Grove, Byram 2, Terry 2, and several other county precincts are still "reliable Republican". In Jackson, your numbers are short by a few, but we'll forgive you for that shortcoming, just like we won't bank on your redistricting expertise. The only thing you got close on was the reference to "Bill Denny's district". After 2020, it will be another Republican's district after Bill is finally retired.
I didn't mention Hinds County at all. Name the remaining reliable Republican precincts in Jackson 1:51. Put up.
In this election Mississippi Democrats have attacked Mississippi private schools and have branded the parents who pay their hard earned dollars to send their children to those schools as racists. All you Democrats can go fuck yourselves.
In Jackson, your numbers are short by a few, ...
Cindy Hyde-Smith won a grand total of FIVE precincts in Jackson. Appears that @1:21 PM wasn't short but rather too generous. P.S. Hyde-Smith lost Byram 2.
All these liberal women have complained loudly and publicly that Trump denigrates women (remember those classy "pussy hats"?) So Trump supports a woman for Senate, and the very same liberal women denigrate her.
Hypocrisy, thy name is liberalism.
First, we had the fight at the Ole Miss/Ms State football game, the only nationally televised game at that time slot, and then this hayseed senate race, the only one in the country that day. Is there any surprise why we are the laughing stock of the whole USA?
So 2:18 why do you think private academies were created?
Private Academies that have non existent standards I might add, most of the students can't make a 15 on the ACT even if were open book.
3:08. . .This is not 2:18, but what you seem to be pointing out is why private schools were formed in the 70s. Step into the 21st century PLEASE. Private schools are now needed because some parents (yes, that also includes us people of color) want better for their children than the public schools in some locations can offer.
When will Mississippi ever try to get past its past? I grew up in the 1970s and 1980s in Mississippi. My family told me stories of what they experienced, both good and bad treatment from white people. Yes, racism existed then. But racism exists mostly today in the minds of people so they can blame all white people for their plight.
Signed, a non-white person who is not 2:18.
3:08 Jackson Academy was founded in 1959, 11 years before Mississippi was forced to integrate.
You fail.
How about the majority of the rest 4:30. And yes today mostly because of Athletics some of them have intergrated. By and large with exception for JA and Prep those poor minority kids are in the same shape as their classmates who can rarely qualify for a 4 year college
Private Academies that have non existent standards I might add, most of the students can't make a 15 on the ACT even if were open book.
PROVE IT.
Got news for the Donkeycrats. Fastest growing segment in the metro area's private schools is, wait for it, students from the area's black middle class.
Clarksdale High students were transported to the poll yesterday to cast their vote during school hours. They referred to it as an "initiative". The mode of transportation to the poll was done via city school buses. While I applaud young people becoming active in the voting process, I question if taxpayer dollars or government is or should be responsible for their transportation to vote. Is this type service acceptable and done in a similar manner anywhere else in the state? It was stated they had some challenges with some not being at their correct polling precinct.
Looks like going forward tax dollars might be used to transport students and others to vote.
Going to be a real bitch -- and us spreading utensils know a real bitch when we see one -- when Conway Hood's only path to election demands he walk back, repudiate and denounce all the Mississippi Democrats' garbage and attacks used this year to promote Mike Espy's candidacy. A real bitch.
Can someone please get a telegram, email, tweet, Facebook message or whatever it takes to thank so very, very much corrupt Senator’s Feinstein, Leahy, Durbin, Whitehouse, Klobuchar, Coons, Blumentahal, Hirono, Booker and Harris for showing Americans just how corrupt they are by teaming up with the mental case and/or pathological liar Christone Blasey Ford in an attempt to destroy Brett Kavanaugh.
Not only were these corrupt Senators told to F Off via Kavanaugh’s confirmation, the corrupt Senators flipped North Dakota, Missouri and Indiana Senate seats from blue to red.
With the pretend Republican Flake going home and the hero turned zero Keating Five shit eating grin McCain also out, this 53 to 47 Senate majority should work very well over the next two years.
Now we just need another SCOTUS confirmation!
Here is a message to the in-state media and the out-of-state folks who denigrate our great State of Mississippi on a daily basis...BITE ME!
Unfortunately the private school sector has no centralized comparable standards from which they can be graded or be compared with public or parochial schools. Kids from these schools like the majority of Home Schoolers struggle in college. Most of these schools don't advertise academic success, they stick with the Consevative Christan Values line in their recruitment pitch.
@1:24; cute post, notwithstanding inaccuracy. Check your date on education and employment. Did I mention 'cute'....?
WHAT makes being 49th and 50th great??????
Weill got what was coming to him. Karma. It is a . . . .
6:56 , HORSE S--t. As a Grade 1-12 private school student I scored a 30 on the ACT, most of my classmates broke 18 on it , several more got upper 20s, and I have 2 post graduate professional degrees. Saying private schools are somehow inferior doesn't make it at all true. Look at where private school grads of all colors end up and compare it to JPS or any other MS public schools.
The academy schools are the reason Mississippi community colleges have trived, they can't qualify for 4 year colleges until they remediate at the Jr. Colleges.
"Health Care @ the bottom!
Education @ the bottom!
Infant Mortality @ the bottom!
College Readiness @ the bottom!

These metrics are best improved at the state level rather than the federal level. I guess they could shovel some fluffy pork our way, but other than that, the metrics you seek to improve are largely the problem of the state legislature. Consider this tidbit as a furtherance of your education.
The average score for the 2018 graduating class at the small private school (not Prep) in Flowood had an average ACT score of 28 for the graduating class of 46.
Tell us again how kids from private schools aren't ready for college, or how there is no measurable standard for them.
"Clarksdale High students were transported to the poll yesterday to cast their vote during school hours. They referred to it as an "initiative". The mode of transportation to the poll was done via city school buses."
I was unaware of that; however, it's nothing more than an end-around way to dump democrat voters into polling places. For years the 'mode of transportation' was Head Start buses and those big vans each county uses to transport the elderly.
Interesting, now, that 'those people' are using 'it's a civics lesson' to get around the law.
46 out of how many thousands across the state.
Ask the folks at Nissan, they will tell you there is a a serious learning curve academy vs public schools. With those from academy schools taking longer to master their jobs.
The academy schools are the reason Mississippi community colleges have trived, they can't qualify for 4 year colleges until they remediate at the Jr. Colleges.
Complete garbage.
Patiently waiting to see the video of those who put the nooses at the Capitol. When we've had nooses placed around the State before huge melt-down on national level. State officials say we have good video.....where is it?
Is it possible those who placed the nooses and signs don't look like good ole boys from a rural Mississippi County? I know that isn't a PC statement.....I don't care. Deal with it.
"Jackson Academy was founded in 1959, 11 years before Mississippi was forced to integrate."
The U.S. Supreme Court handed down Brown v. Board of Education in 1954.
When was the first black kid enrolled in JA?
You must have a reading comprehension problem 10:28 AM.
"The U.S. Supreme Court handed down Brown v. Board of Education in 1954."
and yet MS public schools were not forced to integrate until 1970. Ross Barnett was elected governor AFTER Jackson Academy was founded. Not even a good try at logical fallacy
JA was founded by parents of about 10 families that believed in the Rudolf Flesch phonics way of teaching reading that a public school teacher at the time, Loyal Bearss, believed in. It started in a house near Northview Dr in Jackson, IIRC. The look-say or sight-word method was being predominantly taught in public schools at the time, ala Dick and Jane, etc
Just because some things are black and white, not everything is black and white. Pun intended.
When JA was founded, most of the public school systems around the country were complying with Brown. It was inevitable. To suggest that JA was not founded to provide a lily white school for the rich is sheer folly.
While I'm sure that the fact that segregation had zero to do with the founding of JA goads many, the fact still remains.
It is not a suggestion, it is what it is.
Sorry that fact triggers you so.
"most of the public school systems around the country were complying with Brown"
While factually accurate, most of the public school systems around the country did not have enough black students to worry with complying. But, the 17 south eastern most states, certainly were not. Regardless, it doesn't matter as JA was founded 11 years before such was a thing in Mississippi.
To suggest, as Donna Ladd has done, that any private school in Mississippi is teaching and reinforcing the racism of the 50s, 60s and 70s is not only sheer folly, it is outrageous reckless yellow journalism without any remote basis in fact.
Why y'all hate Donna Ladd, Maggie Wade and Sid Salter so?
I don't know why JA was founded, but there's no question that Mississippi public schools wouldn't have been forced to integrate in 1970 if they had been complying with a then-sixteen year old Supreme Court decision that segregated schools are unconstitutional violations of the Equal Protection clause.
Wow with one comment I ran it over a 100, gotta be my record.
