Our friend Kamikaze really did not like the bad news that was reported last week about Jackson Public Schools and Jackson State University. Kaze posted on Facebook:
Lemme tell yall summin...and listen good hear...
I better not see some of yall getting on my timeline with that "We need to let some white folks run _______" bulls**t hear? Whether its Jackson, Jackson State, Bo Jackson, or Action Jackson. I might block ya. And yall know I dont even block folks.
Dont yall fall for that banana in the tailpipe, that propaganda, that narrative... that they are trying to feed you that Black folks cant run anything. And further dont fall for the hype that surrounding bedroom communities run by white leaders are doing any better. Dont you find it interesting that The City, Our HBCU, and our school district are all simultaneously under fire...at the same damn time? Doesnt that puzzle you? Suddenly ALLLLLLL these Black folks are incompetent?..Money's been mismanaged for all this time and just NOW, yall goin public? And right after they tried to takeover the airport.... hmmmmmm. That don't seem strange to you?
Listen. The incompetence, the mismanagement, the scandals, etc have NOTHING to do with it being Black folks in power. But EVERYTHING to do with what happens when you put the WRONG Black folks in power. Simple as that. When white politicians and officials do wrong I dont see an indictment against ALL white leadership. Do you? Folks on here talking bout "We need a white Mayor". "JSU needs a white president". If you dont get your self loathing, self-depricating arse outta here with that mess!!!!
The Fair commission might be the most corrupt entity in the state. Been running with impunity for decades. Dont see ANY Black folks over there...and ironically NO investigations into it either. Think about it
Kaze, Kaze, Kaze. I hate to tell you this, but there is no GWC, otherwise known as the Great White Conspiracy. The Mississippi Department of Education said this summer it was going to release the school ratings in October. I can see it now, Dr. Carey Wright - who came from Washington DC and whose cronies happen to be black- called up IHL and asked if they had anything bad on JSU and if they did, could they break the bad news at the same time that she released the school ratings. Um, yeah.
Kaze, if you had bothered to read this website over the last five years, you would see that JJ has been warning about Dr. Gray and the track JPS was on for quite some time. Don't blame me that I turned out to be right when you should have been listening all along. When did you say a word about Dr. Gray's performance? When nearly a third of third graders flunked the reading test last year, did you say anything? Nearly half of the third graders at one school failed that same test- crickets. The truth is many Jacksonians such as yourself ignored JPS, did not hold its leaders accountable, and now refuse to admit there is a problem when someone does.
As for JSU, balance sheets are balance sheets. Dr. Myers either spent the money and took on more debt or she did not do so. You can shriek all day long that she is a victim of the GWC but balance sheets do not lie. By the way Kaze, JSU is a public university. You aren't suggesting it should support segregation, do you? What would happen if whites enrolled at JSU en masse? Would Kaze be happy with those changes?
One reason Mississippi is dead last in everything is that there is often a refusal to admit there is a problem. The blinders are even more powerful in Jackson where black community leaders are loath to admit anything is wrong. If someone points out a problem, the response is to call him a racist, an Uncle Tom, or accuse him of adopting "white supremacist values" (if one is in the Malcolm X Grassroots crowd.). Mr. Kaze's post is more of the same.

If the leaders are not incompetent can someone explain the change? I have been here since the fifties. It's different now from even 10 - 15 years ago. A lot different from 30 years ago.
Blacks have been taught for a long time that everything wrong in the world is the fault of the white man. To become a leader in the black community all a person has to do is yell racist and blame it all on the white person. It helps to put reverend in front of your name also. With those two things you can become a black leader. Doesn't matter if you and your friends steal every penny the people give or are forced to give.
Children cannot read, it is the white man's fault.
Money missing, it is the white man's fault.
City streets looking like goat trails, it is the white man's fault.
More city water running in the streets than in the faucets in homes, it is the white man's fault.
Law enforcement crooked, it is the white man's fault.
High crime in the inner cities, it is the white man's fault.
High % of black mothers raising their children alone, it is the white man's fault.
Can anyone ever get the courage to stand up and accept fault for anything?
It's not anyone's fault....it's everyone's fault.
Math is math.
If the tax base leaves then there is no way to sustain a city.
Blame helps no one but the politicians I suppose.
When the financial manager is appointed we can get down to the business of planning for the future...
Until then....JJ has to sell ads and nothing sells ads like clicks from race posts.
Kaze, if you had bothered to read this website over the last five years, ...
But he has, he has. As has Donner and Todd and Tommy Head. They all read JJ daily.
Kaze and most black people are no different than distressed people all over the world and throughout history. The all fall for the demagogue rhetoric of false leaders. When people have deep long term problems that take years to correct they are always attracted to some "leadership" that blames a historic boogey man for their problems. Adolph Hitler all but destroyed Europe by blaming all the problems on the Jews. The Dixiecrats blame the South's poverty and stupidity on the "Yankee carpetbaggers". The Irish blame the English. Trump can blame the economic despair of the middle class on the "illegals". Blame the aristocrats. Blame the communists. Blame the capitalists, and so on. Black people have been kicked and dragged by whites and have no good reason to trust them, so why not blame them when you cannot put your own house in order? Especially when some "leader" is telling you it's not your fault. Nobody likes to accept blame for their own problems. Nobody. The problem is, you'll never correct them until you do!!
Forget those examples. Want to know where you see that kind of rhetoric? The Palestinians. It's worked real well for them, hasn't it? Just replace whites with Jews and its the same message with the same results.
Kaze's grammer is a joke. He must be a product of JPS? Wouldn't hire the guy to mow my yard.
'grammer'?!
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."
His "grammer" be as bad as your "spellin" (puns intended)
The two sides of Kaze - the educated with white folk reality (not JPS), and his appeal to black rapper Kaze. He knows better with his "grammer". He's a smart guy. Truly, the only people I have ever heard say that we need to get white folk in office is black folk. Logic is, the competitive factions in the black community which don't want the other to succeed.
Forgive me Kaze. Thank you Kaze. It just didn't dawn on me that the problem was that we had the WRONG black folks running things. My bad
Attitude and approach of Jackson's black political class is no different than the MSGOP establishment.
"Farish will be part of my legacy," Franklin says. "It will be here for my kids and my kids' kids. I've preached to other hip-hop artists about being smart businessmen and planning for a time when you might not be doing music. This serves as a living example. I'm making being a businessman cool. That to me is the most satisfying thing, merging those two worlds."
We agree here - "One reason Mississippi is dead last in everything is that there is often a refusal to admit there is a problem."
We disagree here - "The blinders are even more powerful in Jackson where black community leaders are loath to admit anything is wrong."
The blinders are powerful across this state. Everyone points blame and never looks in the mirror. I am disappointed in you cousin for placing the onus solely on blacks in Jackson to admitting there are issues in the metro
Fair enough. However, it is the black community that suffers from higher rates of poverty, unwed birth rates, and poor education.
Lemme tell yall summin...hip-hop gonna save Jackson. All hip-hop artistes gonna be smart and cool bidnessmen. In 10 years we gonna be runnin' hip-hop law firms and hip-hop soda fountains and hip-hop day care centers and hip-hop bakeries and hip-hop real estate offices and hip-hop florists and hip-hop medical clinics, all run by smart hip-hop bidnessmen. Dr. DJ Freshy Fresh gon make tha deffest rhymes in his pest control business!
And we don't need no WHITE hip-hop bidnessmen. They all racist.
The most important aspect of running a business and being a businessman is not prudent financial discipline or inventory management or knowing your market or maintaining quality and customer satisfaction. The most important thing is being cool.
"Dont yall fall for that banana in the tailpipe, that propaganda, that narrative... that they are trying to feed you..."
I guess I never got that memo.
Speaking of that propaganda, that narrative, does The Kaz have any clue what goes on inside of the black church?
Can someone send me a copy of the narrative, I feel left out.
No discussion of Kaz is complete without mentioning Rachel Terry. For a squirm in your seat go over to the CL for her gem of an article in there today. "Intentional criminalization" may be my new favorite term.
He ain't gonna fall for that banana in the tailpipe. His 30-year-old movie references are spot on, just like his hippity hoppity dope def and fresh rapper name.
Nothing says funkyfresh like quoting Eddie Murphy, using ghetto inspired slang, and insisting on being called by your rap handle. That's the man who knows how to fix this city!
Could Kaze enlighten lifetime Jacksonians about who are the right black folks to serve the City? Forgive us 20% for possibly supporting the wrong black folks unknowingly.
Is it Kaz or Kaze?
Meanwhile there's this quote from the Blog Owner: "it is the black community that suffers from higher rates of poverty, unwed birth rates, and poor education."
Are you really so simple minded as to not understand the 'drag-down' those issues have on Southern society at large and the Jackson Metro in particular, both black and white? Do you really think 'the black community' is the only one suffering from those realities? We are all in this shit-hole together. There is no island. We all suffer. Employers, small businesses, shops, stores, schools, law enforcement, churches, joggers, strollers, walkers, tourists, visitors, church-goers, developers, entrepreneurs, casual observers, highway workers who pick up litter, cops, elected officials, apartment owners, apartment shoppers, train conductors, butchers, bakers, candle-stick makers. Shit, Man!
"However, it is the black community that suffers from higher rates of poverty, unwed birth rates, and poor education." - that is true and many blacks will not deny that either
But there are things that can be done to the curb the policy, however the state legislature is more worried about a city clerk having to marry two gay people as to getting poor people employed
Rachel already comments here anonymously. Frequently. Hall runs her spouts on Mondays as filler so that he, in turn, can run response letters soaking up more filler inches from his reliable pen pals. Vinson Gibbs also comments here all the time. So, no thanks, already have my fill.
Please explain the 'banana in the tailpipe' suggestion. Is that some sort of prison-humor?
5:39
So.... Are you wanting the state to takeover Jackson?
@Produce Aisle - it's a line from Beverly Hills Cop (someone linked a clip above) where Eddie Murphy shoves a banana in the tailpipe of a cop car to disable it.
What the hell that has to do with Jackson Public Schools or JSU or some overgrown rapper's bitterness is anybody's guess.
5:39; City Clerks don't have the authority to 'marry people'. And if Tommy Head ever goes to prison, 'banana in the tailpipe' will suddenly take on new meaning.
County clerks
Please excuse the mistake

you asked a good question when you said, "Can anyone ever get the courage to stand up and accept fault for anything?"
Here's a start black people do not blame white people for the sake of just pointing fingers, but you have to admit that they are justified in their feelings - if we are speaking about black people in Mississippi and what they have gone through in this state for the last 150 years.
Now here's where you have to hold black people accountable, that they must accept whats happened in the past and continue to make strides to move on from what has happened to their family or friends during those trying times.
We cannot deny that whites have had a financial head start in this state due to slavery and Jim Crow. Between 1887 to circa 1960's there were not many banks who were willing to loan black people money to acquire homes or business loans. That's an advantage whites had as opposed to blacks.
Yes opportunities have improved for blacks, blacks are not being murdered by whites for whistling at white women, or lynch mobs go after black men due to false allegations; however institutional racism is alive and well in Mississippi.
It is getting better, but at a snails pace. Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee and Arkansas are light years ahead of Mississippi in regards to racial reconciliation.
Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee and Arkansas are light years ahead of Mississippi in regards to racial reconciliation.
You're welcome to relocate to those places Brad...I mean Cousin Catfish.
@ 7:50am
So you are proud of this dirty house better known as Mississippi?
Alabama is right next door - better roads, job opportunities, school systems, have won 5 national championships between 2 of the major universities. Hell, even when you are driving on 20 east or hwy 80 you notice there's barely any trash on their highways.
The bar is so low for Mississippi to use when it comes to improving and people like you, just say - "you don't like it, well leave"
Kill the apathy, get tired of living in filth and that's when this sh*t sandwich will turn into a piece of filet mignon
5:39 and 6:13....County clerks don't have the authority to marry people any more than city clerks do.
You must be the cousin the Kingfish family hopes won't show up at the family reunion.
Maybe we can rap our way to prosperity, Mr. Sho-Nuff. I suppose our future is selling Blockwear T-shirts and locally produced hip hop CDs.
You want to see filth, then drive Capitol Street from 220 to downtown. I'm certain you'll attribute that to the GWC, stealthily driving through West Jackson at night to toss out beer cans and fast food containers. The fact is that it's apathy of the locals who don't care about the fact that they live in filth. If they did, they'd be out picking up trash and taking care of their neighborhood.
Or we could just rap about it and sell t-shirts.
Between 1887 to circa 1960's there were not many banks who were willing to loan black people money to acquire homes or business loans. That's an advantage whites had as opposed to blacks
Do you think that might have something to do with the ability to repay home and business loans? It hasn't been that long ago that we got to see what happens when banks are forced to give loans to people who cannot repay them.
@ 9:43am
Sure you ignore Petal, Pearl, Philadelphia, Picayune, Gautier, Southaven, the list is long just like your excuses to place Mississippi's downfall strictly on Jackson.
@10:05, can we say thank you Bill Clinton for the housing crash?
11:37, he is the main cause of it but he had plenty of help from the PC crowd.
