It seems the Sierra Club got itself a Republican in Mississippi, finally.
The Sierra Club also reported donations of "research" and "voter education."

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

In the current landscape of the Green New Deal and beyond, is the Sierra Club still as active and influential as they were back in the day? I feel like they would be considered right-wing in comparison to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the like.
Luckily, Brent Bailey can play dumb and people will believe him. It helps that he is pretty dumb as is.
I am assuming by taking this contribution that he opposes the Yazoo backwater pumps? Time for him to answer that question. If he ever lobbies against it, this will be why.
Green Republican? I would think that stopping the destruction of our home would be a concern that transcends party line. For some reason anti-science pro-billionaire propaganda has convinced the least educated among us that keeping the planet alive is somehow a bad thing.
Brent Bailey was on the front lines fighting and defeating the $7 billion dollar Kemper boondoggle. Thanks to him, and the Sierra Club we ratepayers will not have to pay a $6 billion rate increase. Further, he is a bedrock conservative in his politics and personal personal life. He will be on the side of the people in every case and will not be told what to do by anyone, especially the monopoly utilities. He will work to end robocalls, expand broadband and improve cell service to all Mississippians. The citizens of this state owe a huge debt of gratitude to the many hundreds of Mississippians who dug into their pockets to support and elect this knowledgable, honest people’s champion. And yes, that includes the Sierra Club. By the way, the PSC has absolutely nothing to do the the Yazoo pump issue.
$20,000 PAC contribution will get your phone calls returned.
This is bizarre notion in bizarre times.
For centuries, conservation of our natural resources has been a conservative policy. Please note the similarity in the words.
In these bizarre times, it's "conservative" and thus
"Republican" to equate business profiteering at any expense, even our national interest, as conservatism.
For God's sake, we are having to buy or filter water. Why is that not a hint?
Please see the Washington Post's publishing of The Afghanistan Papers ( Pentagon Papers obtain under FOIA) and find contractors awarded $3 million a day to " improve" places the size of small counties.
Rumsfeld called those in the military who tried to point out the truth " snowflakes". Sound familiar?
8:16 Be smarter. The argument isn't about whether the planet is warming, which is measurable, the question is how much is cyclical (i.e. there isn't much we can do) vs man-made. That equates to how much money should we spend now in direct costs and legislative burdens when it may not do any good at all? It is certainly fair to want some additional causal information prior to placing another huge burden on taxpayers.
BTW, whatever happened to acid rain? Did it just go away magically? In the '80's, I was always waiting on my umbrella to disintegrate in my hands, but the most exciting thing that ever happened was it folding up the wrong way in a stiff wind...
Brent Bailey welcomes and returns all of his phone calls. Give it a try, and say hi to a great PSC Commissioner.
Finally we have a commissioner that has a clue about this job. You should post the utility contributions to Tate.
@9:32
Wow. Just wow. You are trying to tell someone to "be smarter" when you don't even know that acid rain was an issue of damaging pH levels in rainwater and that the issue was reversed by the EPA and legislated by the Clean Air Act.
Brent Bailey is a Commissioner for the people. He will be the watchdog to protect all consumers. He has never and will never be beholden to any entity/person for any reason. He is an independent operator with the knowledge needed to be a responsible steward of our public utilities. His experience and know-how will benefit the entire state with lower power bills, more rural broadband, and more serious consequences for robocall offenders. Brent lives his life with conservative morals and values every day. You won’t find a more genuine person in the state. Do yourselves a favor and actually get to know him - you won’t regret it.
Donation says more about Stamps than it does about Bailey.
9:32, I nominate you for most gullible Mississippian 2019. Congratulations on your nomination and late entry into this year’s contest. I think you have a real shot at taking the top prize.
@ 8:56, 9:53 -
"This has been a paid political announcement, paid for by BB and/or TSC. I approved this message." - BB
8:56 - thank you Stan Flint for your confirming the conservative creds of your candidate. Don't know that anyone is more qualified than you to certify to us the conservative values of a good Republican.
I will give you credit, though, for pointing out that the PSC has absolutely nothing to do with the backwater pumps. There are some folks that have such blinders on that they want to blame anybody and everybody for things that don't go as they want.
Yes, the backwater pump situation needs to be addressed - but even despite Commissioner Brandon Presley's attempt to insert the PSC into anything and everything, the issues of the pumps is not now, nor never will be, subject to the Public Service Commission's opinion.
True, it was a tough call between Bailey and Nic Lott - whether to take someone with a somewhat liberal bent, or someone whose only qualification he could espouse was that he was black. (Just another black man who runs in Republican circles and feels he is entitled to jobs and positions, regardless of any qualifications other than his last name and the color of his skin.)
Then, wasn't a tough call between Bailey and the racist Stamps - who also had no qualifications for the position.
Granted - the position should be eliminated. Having three elected commissioners in today's time is ridiculous. (In the old days when they actually regulated things such as AT&T, BellSouth, Railroads, Motor Carriers, among others, there might have been a need for their existence. But today their realm is basically electric utilities and that is somewhat limited.
Bailey does at least have some experience and qualifications for the job - unlike ANY of the other candidates, either Democrat or Republican.
Maybe it proves that sometimes people will vote on qualifications after all - even for a job where it doesn't matter.
Yup. Lott literally went around telling groups the demographics of the district meant he was the only Republican who could win. Never touted any knowledge of the job or what he would do with it.
Lynn Posey was the last great PSC. Callawad, Bentzy and the rest were a bunch of prima donna(s) who couldn't work a real 9-5 job. Probably have their feet up on their desks now in their plush offices... well played
Lynn Posey was the last great PSC.
You're nuts. Posey couldn't find his way out of a paper bag.
9:32 am The notion that we can't mitigate and plan for climate changes or do anything about man made global warming, is ridiculous!
Species survived other climate events by finding ways to survive.
And, we can do the same by building /finding different habitats ( look up the word if you don't understand it) and finding alternative resources for growing food and replenishing/replacing resources. While we can still use computers, we have a better chance of survival than past periods in history.
You want to just let future generations of our species have fewer survival options?
You want to party while the ship is sinking rather than try to find a lifeboat? Or you do you just only care about your useless self?
It's bad enough that you believe some undereducated nincompoops instead of people who have spent their lives studying and measuring changes in our planet.
That you can't judge the difference between some live for today idiot who thinks wealth will insure their survival and who doesn't give a shit about yours make you a poster child for gullibility.
Hey, Howie Morgan @ 10:56. Whoever helped Brent Bailey win converted a democrat PSC seat to a republican seat in a 63% democrat district. That gave conservatives a majority on the PSC. Meanwhile, the republican Transportation Commission seat went from republican to democrat. Brent Bailey’s victory was a solid conservative win that every conservative should celebrate. Meanwhile, your candidate lost due to liberal positions that sounded more democrat than republican. The good book says, “Sour grapes put an edge on the teeth.” Bless yourheart!
