It looks like Lane Kiffin will be the next Head Football Coach at Ole Miss. Neal McReady tweeted last night:
Multiple sources telling me tonight Lane Kiffin to Ole Miss is as close to a done deal without being official as is possible. At this point, I expect an announcement Sunday.
This gonna be fun.

I’d love to know what dirt Lane has on somebody, to keep getting these repeated chances at coaching Division I and NFL teams.
Oh my....what will Satan I mean SABAN think?
No dirt. In actuality the guy has been a successful coach at every stop except the Raiders which was a disaster to start and he was only 31. Took a Tennessee program that was baron and went 7-6. Took his dream job at USC (who was tainted with ncaa sanctions from previous regime btw) & I believe had around .700 win %. J.g ad a lot of responsibility for Alabamas success when he was there and has completely turned around an FAU school that wasn't even on the map.
I will say I think it's a crap shoot hire (like most) but one worth taking. I certainly dont blame Keith for pulling the trigger. It's a big time hire
The new AD at Ole Miss will be the old AD at Ole Miss before long. This isn’t a bad decision, it’s just plain dumb. Ole Miss just doesn’t do well hiring people who know how to hire people. This school is in desperate need of competent leadership.
Anyone warned the Co-Ed’s ?
I think Ole Miss will regret this decision in every way. In terms of ability to win and in terms of how he will lead and represent the university.

Read it.....
state bull puppies cryin they stuck with jomo lol
You would think a school that tears down statues, changes bldg names, can,t find a mascot, is losing enrollment numbers, is being dictated by a few wealthy alumni (at least one who is a convicted felon) would look at the character issue when hiring another coach with a history of sexual misconduct.
Should be good for the ABC stores around the Square. The Lane Train seems to move quickly through all its stops (FL Atlantic being the longest at 3 years) with apparently a connection to the heavy brew that seems to be popular in the Oxford area.
The Plantation U Confederates = The gift that keeps on giving. What's the over and under as to when the NCAA moves in to Oxford Town?
I don't follow college football that much, but I've never heard anything but negatives about this guy. On a related issue, does he still have that super-hot wife? If he does, maybe the OM higher-ups think that'd be reason enough to hire him! Maybe he wouldn't pull a Freeze and go looking for a super-hot wife.....
The last 10 days have been as UMiss as they could possibly be. First, lose the Egg Bowl in the most UMiss of ways. Next, fire the most loyal coach you could possibly have just a few days after praising him. Then, go hire the most self-centered, immature coach in D-1 football (which is saying a lot) to come and lift your program back to mediocrity. The school and the coach deserve each other. He won’t be there in 3 years (although the NCAA will), but it’ll be fun to watch the meltdown. You only thought it was a dumpster fire before!
I'd much rather have Freeze back
Enrollment down, contributions, attendance down and go hire a bone head like Kiffin! What on earth is going on at UM. Nuff said!
Coach Kiffin is a great hire for Ole Miss. For him to turn the football program around, they will need to give him time and leave him alone and let him call all the shots. Kiffin matured big time working for Coach Saban, and he's way better than the Mike Shula knock off Ole Miss just fired.
But sorry, he's now divorced from his white hot wife, Layla.
This skit about Kiffin back when Alabama hired him is one of the funniest I have seen.

2 absolute certainties about LK.....he is a great recruiter and he will be an upgrade as a coach over Matt Luke.
We don't need Neal Mcready (whoever the hell that is) to announce this. It was out of of the bag Friday at 9:40 a.m.
Kiffin will either step up and do very well at ole miss, or it will be a 110% dumpster fire and burn the place down to the ground. One or the other and nothing in between.
Oxford babes are much hotter than any in Arkansas... ;))
he is either:
1-going to win and leave for an even bigger school
2-lose and be fired
three years at most..
3:40 "contributions & attendance down"
Your argument is exactly why they hired him. Had to stop the bleeding and this is a hire that's going to do that
Take a school who is ashamed of it's history, it's founding, it's flag, school song, and mascot and marry them to a coach who has much to be ashamed of but is never ashamed of anything. He would have been a great fit for them in 1962. This will either be a train wreck or great. But if it's great he won't stay.
I am watching coach o, another person the majority of rebels thought wasn’t a good hire, win the sec. you have to have patience of five years for any hire and recognize that African American athletes will think twice before coming to a university that celebrates the civil war
Oxford is a great town for Joey Freshwater. Everyday a holiday and every night a rondezvouse.
Lock up the coeds, Joey Freshwater is headed to Oxford.
We don't need Neal Mcready (whoever the hell that is) to announce this. It was out of of the bag Friday at 9:40 a.m.
He's got an audience. You've got zilch.
Great coach and great hire
MSU fan here.
OM will pound MSU next year. But OM will be a soap opera. Kiffin is a great recruiter and coach. 4:25 is right. Kiffin will either succeed and leave or the soap opera will get him fired. But Kiffin will coach hammer Morehead.
Don't understand why they could not find an innovator like Slo Mo at Leg Humper U.
No one was talking about mascots and other meaningless tripe when Ole Miss won the Sugar Bowl. Only leg-humpers and dumb provincials talk about it now. The team gets and new coach and the deservedly forgotten man gets mad that he may lose the spotlight. Go cry in your Golden Corral spare ribs.
6:01 another small-minded who attempts to interpret others: "...a university that 'celebrates' the civil war."
No, quit replacing "honor" the civil war with "celebrate" the civil war... and you should understand.
The analysis is astounding. "It'll either be huge success and he'll leave or a dumpster fire". Well no s#$t sherlock's. Isn't that the case with any big time college football hire? Anything in between wouldn't suffice anyway. If hes huge success and leaves he leaves program in better place. If its dumpster fire he leaves program by being fired and program goes back to drawing board. If hes anywhere in between he leaves and program moves on. Pretty standard stuff in coaching cycle. Come to think of pretty standard stuff in executive world regardless of business
I am a State fan and think it’s a great hire. He can begin the turnaround that ole miss needs. That said he won’t be a long term hire 3 to 4 years but he will leave it in much better shape. I wish state would have done something this smart.
“Slo Mo” Now that is priceless!
How many Ole Miss alums does it take to change a light bulb? Answer-100; 1 to change it and 99 to reminisce about it. So keep on talking about that national championship....
Freshwater has people talking. Lots of people.
When Jomo was hired, King could only scrape up 2 comments.
No one cared.
The state fans are just so sad they have another four years with JOMO
Simply an immature hire of an immature individual.....apparently there are no adults in charge on the Oxford plantation. The choice is a complete marketing ploy to radically redirect the narrative away from how utterly embarrassing that school has become. The school is lost and unhinged academically, and its football program has become quite literally cartoonish.
Hmmm....check this out

And you all thought college was a place to go git learnt...HA!
Ole Miss’ 27th Rhodes Scholar was announced just recently. @8:15, if you went to college, how many has your school had?
8:15 You are absolutely correct. They should have hired someone with the maturity to face the media after a game won only based on a stupid, immature act resulting in a penalty and then act as if you had just coached a masterpiece for a national championship while stating you aren't here for the fans. Yup, even ol' Slo Mo can be a bit excitable from time to time.
The "Boy Blunder" returns.
@12:32: UT...the real one, in Texas, not tennessee, has had about 30. What has that got to do with the price of rice in China?
UR also is 5 times bigger than Ole Miss.
Hilarious!!!
State fans think they are all that. The Egg Bowl was two(2) sorry football teams playing each other and the one that won was just a smidgen less sorry than the other team that won by 1 point. That's too, too rich for most that know anything about football.
The bottom-line is that Ole Miss is at least trying to right their ship while MSU is simply putting off the inevitable firing of a coach that doesn't understand the SEC and even if he did, he doesn't have the knowledge to advance the team any higher than they are now. As to the "10 straight bowl" braggadocio, that string was helped by a loser of a bowl game based upon academic achievement and when they won the bowl they STILL had a losing season of 6-7. Man, you just can't make this stuff up!!!
Yes, two (2) sorry teams in the SEC West, but only one (1) will see a change in daylight come 2020. When will the other one in Starkville right their ship. Not for at least another year.
The SEC West is still the best and LSU has supplanted the big Red Elephant to a mere pachyderm! :D
I'm with Slo Mo. We are guaranteed at least 6-6 next year with dynamic offense. Maybe PSU has another backup QB that can come in and give us hope.
3:03, congrats on all of the moral victories in your post.
I want Ole Miss fans to remember two things:
1) how much they despised Mullen for trash talk, then watch how they embrace Kiffin's trash talk
2) how they discredit the Egg Bowl like its nothing when they lost, yet tout their victories in the years they win. Its been like this for ages. When they lose it's all "the eggbowl is meaningless(yea because Ole Miss is destined for an SEC victory or NC)" or "LSU is our real rival(well, for everyone but LSU)"
May I strive to be as perfect as some of these posters. You act as if he is the only one or the first one to make mistakes! We ALL have a past. We ALL have made mistakes. Give the guy a chance.
Attn 9:36 give him a chance and a burner phone.
@ 3:03
Baaaaaaaaaaaaa. You need to be sheared.
10 bowls in a row is much better than not going to one 4 years running. Congrats on your hire. I'm sure the network is fired up and ready to start buying croots once again.
11:19...get back to me when you guys make a "real bowl" like a Sugary one in the month of January...ohhh, and actually win it should you get there!!! HAGHAHAHA!!!!
@3:03, per the lane trane’s new contract terms, your team would have been paying between $50,000 and $1000,000 to your head coach for any and all of the “10 straight bowl game braggadocio”. So apparently people at ole miss do value attending lower tier bowls unlike their fans who seem to know more about football and administration than the ones writing contracts and signing/cashing checks.
I just hope he does not regret the move.
hey 12:51...we aren't into piss-anty bowls like the Musy Cickle one you bottom-dwellers just got. Your team at msu is a lousy one and just a little better than the egg bowl team you beat (HA! by 1 point no less!!!).
Come back braggin' after you get a few Sugar Bowl wins under your belt...hell, that'll NEVER be in my or your lifetimes so DREAM ON, Stump-Pumper!!! :D
All the daddies in the celebration column better be figuring out a way to lock up their baby girls. Or maybe they figure it'll be a celebratory sacrifice.
State has never hired a horn dog and Ole Myth is 2 for three.
Hey 5:38pm...NEVER HIRED A HORNDOG?!?!?
Get real...basketball coach Richard Williams ring a bell, you self-righteous leg-humper???
How about a baseball coach that wasn't retained???
I'd worry more about the bell-ringing daughters on my own campus if I were you...I'm guessing you have some coaches doing some "real bell-ringing" on coeds on your own campus and if not...well, stumps are readily available all over that pasture you call starksville. :D
Fo mo for Slo Jo Mo! Music City all the way!!!!!!!
