Kingfish,. Help us out. Employees at Public Safety and Corrections are desperate for news about Commissioners. We are hoping that the new governor will make good selections.

so uhh.. about this whole impeachment thing.. ?

On 12/6/2019, Coast to Coast AM had an author named Matthew L. Dwayne who has published a book that chronicles haunted railways, haunted trains, and ghost conductors. I wish there would've been a caller from the Jackson Metro with experience dealing with GM&O ghost trains in the metro. I've been curious about ghost trains ever since I saw that comment here on JJ.

Trump is a terrible person and president, is generally bad for our country and politics in general.
He has also afforded us with good Supreme Court justices.

Phil Bryant proved that a redneck populist can actually do some good things as governor.

Wonder what manner of nonsense is going on in Pelahatchie today?

If you're out and about over the next few days be sure to check out Antar's latest sewage bypass debacle at Fontaine and Jiggetts. You'll find easy access via Northside or Old Canton.

I meant that the Haunted Railroad author is Matthew L Swayne not Dwayne.

On another note. Anyone know where we can take kids to see model trains? Are the model train enthusiasts still setting up in the old Capitol?

Everyone asking about the impeachment, it is a coup by seditious traitors and we can only hope that President Trump gives them the same fate as the infamous traitor, Benedict Arnold.

I have voted Democratic my whole life. Over 50 years. Democratic doesn’t mean what it used to. I’m not sure which of the nominees can hold out on keeping the young liberals hands off of our nation. The whole impeachment process has been a joke. Schiff and Co. are embarrasing. I’m thinking Buttigeg. We simply cannot sustain by applying the current nominees’ ideas. Help me out folks.

Republicans are to blame for Trump. Had they held Obama accountable and stood up to his Muslim destructive policies, We The People would not have needed to elect Trump to drain the swamp. But apparently Republicans are amphibious too. What you are seeing in Washington now is swamp creatures desperate to keep the swamp from being drained. Desperate people do desperate things to protect their kingdom. As much as the establishment detests Trump....We The People detest the establishment. We don't love Trump, we just hate you more than him.

Its apparent on the Bernie thread who knows the real scoop about the scandal and who was a greedy dumbass with their entire nest egg in one stock.

10:13 AM:

I've been told that the Gov-elect had made choices for Public Safety (a highly qualified administrator) and Corrections (a sheriff or former sheriff). However, there has been no movement on Bureau of Narcotics. It seems to be agreed that Dowdy is out, but they are still looking for a qualified person with either experience in law enforcement or general agency administration, or perhaps experience with the federal DEA or Homeland Security, to run the operation and bring it up from the horrible state it is in thanks to Dowdy.

We shall see shortly.....

Hey, what did Benedict Arnold and Jeffrey Epstein have in common?

They both didn't kill themselves

Anonymous said...

So what is the idea behind ghost trains? These are train apparitions that still roll down the tracks to this day?

Anonymous said...

Anyone know where we can take kids to see model trains?"

There is a large model train museum on the coast - on Pass Road in Gulfport.

Anonymous said...

11:08 There is no coup. There is simply the predictable result of an unrepentant egotist who does not respect other people or his office enough to practice common civil discretion. If I go about saying anything and everything about other people without any respect somebody is going to knock the hell out of me. He will get off light. So far.

Banks already cutting deals. Got his daughter in law that was Madison county ‘solid waste director’ hired in planning and zoning.
I wonder what 60-70k a year position she will land in now that her foot is in the door? Purchasing clerk or maybe Buildings and grounds director or who knows could be county admin once Vance and Lee are out.

Anonymous said...

We desperately need a new MBN director, Im pulling for Jimmie Nichols!

All I have to do is read some posts online and read how lacking today's generation is about government and the criminal process. First of all, a person who is accused of crime is PRESUMED INNOCENT (except, apparently, when you don't like the guy). Secondly, impeachment is accusation of presidential crimes, just like a grand jury indictment. The president does not have to give up his seat simply on an accusation (except if you don't like the guy). Third, hearsay is not admissable in any court -- all evidence must be in direct knowledge of a witness (except if you don't like the guy). Fourth, the president is in charge of foreign policy, not the Speaker of the House (except if you don't like the guy). Base of it all, forget the Constitution if you don't like the guy.

Anonymous said...

Because, 12:54, it's not the accused's duty to prove innocence, it's the prosecutor's duty to prove guilt. The legal system is set up to assume innocence until proof of guilt. Unless, of course, you don't like the guy.

If we instantly force defendants to prove their innocence then you might as well accuse everyone and guess what kind of problems we would have with prisons full of people who couldn't afford to put up a defense -- oh, right, isn't that what all Parchman residents say now, anyway?

1:12,

A Ghost Train is a train that follows the same path that it repeated for decades. The theory is that what you are witnessing is some sort of energy echo in spacetime.

Then there are haunted tracks. These are stretches of track usually near a railroad catastrophe such as a wreck or boiler explosion. Can also be the location of a very bloody train robbery or massacre by bloodthirsty Injuns (they used to block the tracks and then kill male dandy passengers and abduct women and girls)

Finally, there are haunted passenger cars such as subway cars and passenger cabins on what few passenger linea we have left in the USA. Also ghost conductors who will sometimes appear and warn living conductors of obstructions on the track ahead.

There are reports from fishermen of echos of trains passing over abandoned trussed bridges in MS that were built by the GM&O line. And of course the occasional apparition of an illuminated train beneath the waters of the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

11:02 - the Possum Ridge display that used to be at the Old Capitol is now on the mezzanine at the Two Mississippi Museums. No charge to just see the trains. Lucky (the builder) might even be there to answer questions.

The train setup at the Ag Museum is nice and year-round.

Wow! The ignorance in the comments never ceases to amaze me. First, there are so many exceptions to the hearsay rule, that only a moron cannot get most hearsay statements in these days. Second, while the presumption of innocence is still the law in the United States, for all practical purposes a person has to prove their innocence before a jury to be found not guilty. As they saying goes, "They wouldn't have arrested him if he wasn't guilty." The "hang'em high and fast" people who comment on here do not want due process for anyone unless it if for them or someone they know, and then they scream they didn't get it no matter what. Get a grip people.

" My formula for happiness...........I don't watch any Jackson news,"

I don't either.

Jackson news has not existed on any of the three local TV stations for years.

The lead stories are always just casualty numbers from overnight "shootings", followed by the weather team having orgasms about potential rainfall two weeks into the future. Then they rehash the national stories with an occasional (alert) about a flat tire on I-220.

Gawd I miss Woodie Assaf & Bob Neblett.

For those asking about the Zoo, it will not be opening anytime soon! City and zooOceanarium unable to come to an agreement regarding City funding, repairs, upgrades, etc... I’m hearing this new company never said they would invest ‘millions’ into the Zoo. So now City is working to get USDA license(I believe USDA came out this week for first inspection) Meanwhile, that place is looking even more deserted from pictures I’ve seen recently.

10:38....those were the days! The days when our once great town was a place you had pride to say you lived in. I travel all over the state and all I hear is negative comments about Jackson. But when I ask what is different form their town to Jackson they cannot explain it. Dems will always never learn how to operate a town or a business. For that matter, I would have to say the percentage of business owners who are democrat are very low and those that are they on the public side to get contracts such as local state and federal.

But, I would love for KF to post photos of Jackson when it was in its glory. Maybe he can do that soon.

You are proud of a Jackson where black people were subjected to a vastly different experience.

You long for a time when there was a caste system.

You hate it now and claim blacks cannot govern after failing your fellow citizens in Jackson.

The pity if for you and your ilk.

I sense you are closer to the grace than the cradle and that’s probably best for all involved.

Now let's translate that via 1960 Ross Barnett terminology

"10:38.........those were the days! Back then we could go around beat up and harass the coloreds without getting in trouble and losing our jobs! Yep, we kept them out of neighborhoods, kept them out of our schools! We didn't want their boys and gals intermixing with our kids! The days when our once-great town was a place you had pride to say you lived in because we kept them coloreds in their place. I travel all over the state and all I hear is negative comments about Jackson. But when I ask what is different from their town to Jackson they tell me in the whisper all the n*ggers don't run sh*t! Blacks will always never learn how to operate a town or a business. For that matter, I would have to say the percentage of business owners who are black are very low and those that are they on the public side to get contracts such as local state and federal."

That's what they probably really wanted to say

Please go to www.senate.gov and read the Senate report on foreign interference ( which is ongoing).

Please learn about Victor Shokin, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General that all of NATO wanted fired to learn WHY they wanted him fired.

You have to learn to tell the difference between the " good guys" and the "bad guys" in Ukraine. And, you have to know the timeline for when Ukraine was able to start
forming a real democracy.

Please find out when the Ukrainian Ambassador to the US has confirmed she was told the aid was held up. Put into your search engine " current Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S.)

Please look up Putin's comments on Ukraine " meddling" in our election not Russia ( search engine) and see the timeline and translations of his comments. The comments will sound familiar even if you haven't heard them from him.

We are arguing among ourselves about partisan politics when we ought to be worried about national security. But, only if YOU are enough of a Patriot to bother with facts, will you be convinced.

The Clinton,Bush, and Obama administrations and their failures have some responsibility in our current mess in how the Clinton impeachment and investigation of H. Clinton unfolded as well as not acting more aggressively to threats.

But, neither side will start seeing that until you start educating yourselves and figure out that we are all suffering from the past mistakes of both parties who now find they are having to live with their past political games being played by their opponents.

When you change the rules, those rules for your benefit, you can't complain when the other side uses those changes against you.

The hypocrisy of BOTH political parties is stunning.

Ukrainian interference in the 2016 election is a lie created by Putin and promoted by Trump, Giuliani, Cruz, et al.

Anonymous said...

3:43 pm The Ukrainian interference lie originated with Putin and spread to Manafort and others in the Trump campaign who were unregistered " foreign agents" and in prison now as a result.
I would remind you that neither Assange or Snowden had contacts with Ukraine.
What is astonishing is that Guiliani has met and continues to meet with the corrupt oligarchs and Ukrainian Soviet sympathizers in the previous Ukrainian governments that all our allies agreed were so corrupt that all agreed not to provide arms to Ukraine until those people were out of positions of power and influence.
When you add that Syria is now as firmly obligated to Russia as Cuba ever was, and that Putin's latest 4 hour "interview" gave new impeachment talking points in support of Trump that are already on social media and spewing out of GOP Senators mouths, it makes Trump look like a turncoat who has been either bought or blackmailed.
I personally just think he is either senile or an example of "social promotion" throughout his life". His claim to be a "graduate of Wharton School of Business" as if he had even a 6 week MBA from there much less a 2 year MBA ( which was what I was went he attended)is like a Millsaps 4 year graduate claiming he graduated from " The Else School of Management" with an MBA instead of having a BS in business.
He doesn't seem to know things kids who are college bound know by high school graduation like which States are actually on our border or that there were no airplanes during our Revolutionary War. Worse, he has no tolerance for briefings and that his security briefing is abbreviated to 30 min. should terrify all of us. He admits he doesn't like to read which is necessary for college.
I remember when one of my friends went to a private military school, his buddy said, " I could send my cocker spaniel there if I had enough money"... he was flunking out".

Kingfish,
How can the governor declare holidays for state employees that the statute 3-3-7 doesn't allow? AG opinions say local governments can't do this. I'm sure many do.

Sure, everyone likes to be off for the holidays, but do taxpayers consent to giving away money not earned? I think they call this an impermissible donation, which violates the state constitution.

No media seems to be interested, I guess to not be a Scrooge. But that is a lot of tax money wasted. You seem to be one who looks out for such, regardless.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
