Thug Goes Free, Again.

One of Frank's Faves graduated from the Hinds County Catch & Release program.  Vidal Sullivan is a free man and won't have to worry about going back to prison thanks to the District Attorney and MDOC.  The District Attorney wants to remand his indictment for armed robbery while MDOC never filed a petition to revoke his probation after he was indicted or arrested for armed robbery.

No longer in custody

Vidal Sullivan was on probation when he was arrested and indicted for armed robbery on February 23, 2017. He was convicted of aggravated assault in 2006 and sentenced to serve ten years in prison. However, he was released from prison on November 15, 2012 to serve probation for three years. However, Sullivan stopped reporting to his probation officer, thus "stopping the clock" on his probation sentence. He has approximately four years of his prison sentence to serve if his probation is revoked.

His bond was set at $300,000. The indictment states that Sullivan used a gun to separate one Johnny Smith from his wallet and $200 on November 12, 2016. The indictment also seeks classification of Sullivan as a habitual offender. It states that he has the following convictions:

Aggravated assault in Hinds County (March 13, 1996)
C/S Possession of Cocaine in Hinds County (May 11, 2000)
Aggravated assault in Hinds County (November 6, 2006)

The case languished on the docket as such cases are want to do in Hinds County.   The District Attorney  moved to remand the case yesterday because the victim could not be found.  The motion states:

The defendant is alleged to have robbed Johnny Smith on November 12, 2016. The complainant, Mr. Smith, is currently under indictment in Hinds County Cause Number 17-0-987. On April 16, 2019, Mr. Smith failed to appear for a scheduled court date or stay in contact with his attorney. As a result, a bench warrant was issued.

In preparation for trial the State has conducted an exhaustive search for Mr. Smith and, despite diligent efforts, has been unable to locate Mr. Smith.

State cannot proceed to trial in the within cause without the testimony of Johnny Smith, as his testimony constitutes a necessary element of proof in the State's case.

As such, the State request that this court remand the cause until such time that Mr. Smith's attendance can be procured.

The case is assigned to Judge Adrienne Wooten. The Hinds County website states that Sullivan is no longer in custody.  MDOC never filed a petition to revoke his probation.

Sullivan achieved quite a bit of notoriety back in the 1990's and 2000's. He was accused of kidnapping two women but the grand jury did not indict him. He was known as one of the Wood Street Players that attracted so much of Frank Melton's attention.

But, will the MDOC Commish issue a press release thanking all these agencies for their cooperation in the administration of justice in this here matter?

One more of the many deserving souls needing a double tap in order to improve the safety of mankind.

Remember, the D.A. wants to be your next governor of the great state of Mississippi! HE has the THUG vote.

Considering all the high profile white collar busts Jim Hood has made -- Scruggs, Epps, Adams, et al -- RSS doesn't stand a chance.

He seems nice.

These officials should be held liable when he murders and steals again.

Hood didn't "BUST" Scruggs

So basically, you are saying, -lan your crimes in Hinds County where you will be insured of not being prosecuted! Good to know.

I’m no friend of the Hinds DA here, but what do you expect them to do? They can’t prove the case without the guy and he obviously doesn’t want to be involved. It’s remand or they go to trial without proof and lose.

Seems like Kingfish just wants to whine that a black man isn’t in jail and is targeting whatever he can here. Weak.

@3:03, he just wanted an excuse to call a black guy a thug. He’s probably a little fussy over the GOP being labeled racist today.

Vidal Sullivan IS a thug. Nice to see the criminal element showing up here as well as their supporters. I've called plenty of white guys thugs. Nice try.

One of the problems with making a criminal case in Hinds County is witnesses, they often disappear or may be worse than the Defendant. Cooperation from the public is essential but sorely lacking in Hinds.

"Anonymous said..Hood didn't "BUST" Scruggs. July 16, 2019 at 2:06 PM"

That was the point! He didn't bust Epps or Adams either. Try to keep up with the sarcasm which is on frequent display here.

Kingfish, just a little clarification here. I don’t know anything about his case but you wrote that the clock stops on probation if you stop reporting. That’s not accurate. That would encourage probation to be super lazy. The clock stops basically if a warrant or a petition with a warrant is filed. Not knowing the exact time frames in this case and the probation calculation, it’s possible that MDOC botched jurisdiction by failing to act.

Hinds County swamp needs to be drained. It’s utterly ridiculous that a population like this could exist in the USA. This is beneath 3rd world countries

Unless you elect Stanley Alexander expect the same to continue

More of the same from the Bug Eyed Psychopath. I CAN'T WAIT to hear his delusional speech at the Neshoba County Fair.

206, or Epps or Adams.

Evidently you missed the sarcasm of the earlier poster's comment.

Hood only 'busts' folks that can aide his campaign contributor lawyers who get a big chunk of the action. Nice little circle he has developed - from some Corp via selected law firm, fee to law firm to fund campaign contribution to Hood.

Twernt no money in going after Epps or Adams. And of course Scruggs was "like family".

Was reading his charges and when I got to No Drivers License, my heart sank and I broke out in a sweat. How the fuck can a criminal like this be walking around. No Drivers License, damn.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
