TRUTH!

Bill Maher said what needed to be said about fake news recently:

He might be an atheist but amen, Brother Bill, amen.

Amen. A lot of the times, Maher is a smug jerk. But sometimes, he gets something completely right. This is one of those times.

First, I admit that I did not listen to or watch the posted video. That said, I can't imagine that anything that comes out of that clowns mouth would be of any interest to me.

Agree. Agree. Agree.

9:08. you might want to watch. this is worth 5 min of your time

Like those above, I'm not a Bill Maher fan either. He's not saying anything here that legitimate newscasters and commentators haven't said before, though in their case with more elegance and no profanity, but Maher does prove that even a blind pig can find an acorn once in a while.

And you think this is worthy of an "AMEN"? Slow news day?
Bill Maher IS an example of fake news. He twist a news story for the laugh factor. He even took a negative stab at the President's family for the joke, while talking about fake news. He also mentioned a fake story by Fox news, but the caption read that Jennifer responded to negative remarks. Again, making up fake news to report on fake news.
By the way...EVERYTHING he said is old news, or comments I should say. Been said a thousand times, and now he thinks he has a new observation to report?
There is a reason Bill Maher is insignificant in the real world, this is another example.

All y'all that are commenting without watching the video are missing the point. Even though you may disagree with much of what Bill Mahr stands for or does, he absolutely nails it in this on. Watch the video, or just keep your fingers in your ears and enjoy your little echo chamber.

I agree with Maher's take in this video, and I agree with his take on 95% of the other issues as well. This bodes well for my social status in Mississippi.

The over 22% of America who identifies themselves as "nonreligious" could care less about his atheism. It's his opinion, and that one opinion does not define him.

Just like our President's non-practicing of any semblance of religion did not define him with the Christian right when it came time to cast votes in 2016, either.

You guys are cracking me up. So indignant that a "liberal" gets it absolutely right (less the gratuitous dig at Ivanka). And one of you admits that he/she did not even watch it? Somewhere, Jefferson is still trembling for his country.

So Bill Mahr has finally figured out what the rest of us have known for years. Maybe Mahr should start listening to the people he constantly belittles.

9:59 is right. The Blind Hog has finally found an acorn.

That's "Maher". Maybe you misnamers only watch Shawn Hanetti.

For the record, my comments above have nothing to do with Maher's being an atheist. I've got friends and coworkers who are also atheists as well as Christian, Jewish, Muslim, agnostic and whatever. Their beliefs or lack thereof don't define them as a person nor necessarily define their political or other stances. I just don't care for Bill Maher, never have. He comes across to me as yet another arrogant, self-important commentator with no particular expertise or training in that area. Just another actor/comedian turned "expert".

Okay - bling pigs, stopped clocks, yada yada yada, now even Maher gets it right. Let's hope it has some influence on the poor deluded souls who think he's actually funny.....

Maher would never admit it, but he is in total agreement with Trump that Islam is a shitty and violent religion that promotes killing and terror and has said as much on more than one of his shows.

Anonymous said...

@4:22 Not only does he admit it, Maher compares the violence to almost every religion, including Christianity

I'm not surprised that ,rather than subject and the content of Maher's remarks, some of you have made this about Maher.t

These times will be seen in history as the time of personality and celebrity where the world became so complex and frightening that the masses looked for human " saviors".

Sometimes, but not often, I envy your surety that you can place such trust in so few and are certain that your instinct about people, even those you have never met, is infallible.

But, then I remember that I believed two good men ( I still think they are good men), Colin Powell and George Bush who said Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. They believed it. One I suspect because he trusted those he should not and one because he wanted to believe it so didn't give weight to those trying to tell him the truth.

That's the problem. Sometimes, it's those who aren't charming or fun or attractive and are sometimes tedious and annoying that actually have the facts and are telling the truth. And, those folks may not express themselves in a way you think acceptable.

But, if you let a group or a party or any other person think for you, you have given up your responsibility and power.

Think about it and consider listening to the video.

And, at least remember, that anyone can find a crazy and/or reprehensible person in any group or on any subject who will disgust and shock you.

If you want to be entertained rather than informed by the news, you ARE the problem.

Try, for just a month to listen to all the news shows at the top of the hour ( they are repetitive) so you can hear in the first 30 minutes different points. You don't need talking heads evaluating. Use yours.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
