You can't make this up.

Apparently banning segregationist practices is the new white supremacy.  The Daily Tennessean reported last month:

Nashville Public Library officials have told Nashville’s chapter of Black Lives Matter that meetings that welcome only people of color can’t take place inside the city’s libraries.

That decision has outraged members of Black Lives Matter, who say the library canceled all future meetings the group had organized for later this month.

But library officials say they’re simply enforcing a library policy that says all meetings at their facilities must be open to the general public and news media.

“The library didn’t cancel anyone’s meeting,” said library spokeswoman Emily Waltenbaugh, referring to a Black Lives Matter meeting  for Saturday morning that the organization has now rescheduled for a church instead.

“We’re a library,” she said. “We’re taxpayer funded. We have to be open to anyone anytime.”
For the past few months, Black Lives Matter in Nashville has held its chapter meetings at the North Branch Library in North Nashville.

According to Joshua Crutchfield, an organizer of the Nashville chapter of Black Lives Matter, the group has a rule: Only black people as well as non-black people of color are allowed to attend the gatherings. That means white people are excluded from attending.

An individual complained this week to the library system about the Black Lives Matter policy, prompting a library employee to inform the group that events excluding groups of people can’t be held inside Nashville libraries. As a result, the group plans to have its meeting Saturday morning at Dixon Memorial United Methodist Church in North Nashville.

“Due to white supremacy in our local government, this week’s BLM General Body Meeting location has changed,” a notice posted Friday on the Nashville chapter of Black Lives Matter’s Facebook page reads. The notice says the group’s meetings are “open to black and non-black people of color only."

"We were surprised about it, but we shouldn't have been," Crutchfield told The Tennessean of the library's decision. "We kind of know the history about how this goes in this country. … It's definitely something we want to make public to tell people what's going on in the city."

Sean Braisted, spokesman for Mayor Megan Barry, said the library system has a policy and that it enforced it properly.

"The issue doesn't have anything to do with the politics (of Black Lives Matter)," he said. "It's simply a matter of an open-door, open-meeting policy, and that's what the library has adhered to."

Waltenbaugh stressed that the library didn’t cancel the group’s meeting, but rather alerted Black Lives Matter that the library system’s policy calls for all meetings to be open to the general public. She said the group then chose to move to a new location....

I am a U.S. Citizen of both racial heritages. I am going to speak on this fairly: We as African American People would be outraged if the situation were reversed and there were meetings held at the library for Caucasians and other descriptions for European descent of non-color( if this human categorization is allowed to this degree.) As a matter of fact, it would be treated as symbolic of the "whites only era" prior to racial freedom. I can't comprehend how any human race (all) can justify excluding a categorization of people for subject matters which affect us all as U.S. citizens.

As a Caucasian, the subject topic of racial profiling is present in all facets. How often are Caucasians labeled as being prejudice for comments made or looks which resemble what is describe in the article as "white supremacy". Really, can anyone honestly say from both cultures that you have never labled someone in error as belonging to a prejudicial group simply because of of outward appearance prior to knowing anything about the individual. I have been around several conversations in which both races feel promotion opportunities were given to one race over the other due to "disadvantages of belonging to a race" or "opportunities given to a race to defend equality".

The point is we will never move forward as a country until all lives matter!

The symbol of the United Methodist Church is a burning cross. It was adopted in the mid twenties.

Read his comment. 9:24 is a 'person of color' that pretends to be white in an attempt to feel relevant. You're not white. Sorry.

If Dixon Memorial is indeed part of the United Methodist Church, the church's buildings are owned by the United Methodist Church. It would be interesting to know whether the Conference is okay with this use of its facilities. Also, depending upon what is discussed at the meeting, 501c3 status could be an issue.

Kinfgish - is there a way to send you some information? Email?

Go look at Dixon UMC Nashville on Google Maps. Right next to something called "Johnsons House of Atena"--another church. Someone in Nashville BLM is likely a member and has reserved it for the meeting. The Conference and perhaps even Pastor were unaware of their racist policy to keep white people out. It will be interesting to see if the church, who now fully knows, still allows its doors to be closed to anyone but blacks and other people of color.

9;15, the symbol of the UMC is NOT a burning cross, it is a flame (representing the Holy Spirit, and the cross. No part of the cross is burning. Also, it was adopted by the UMC in 1968, not the 1920's. Finally, if Dixon UMC in north Nashville allows such meetings to take place on its property, it will be in violation of several principles and policies of the UMC and it's pastor, if he hasn't already corrected this situation, will be hearing from their bishop for that conference.

10:01...a whole lot of organizations (yes, that includes many churches) have violated several principles and policies for fear of being labeled racist. That is huge reason we are in the mess we are in. It happens all the time.

For some reason people think only white people can be racist. Hate to break it to you but open your eyes. White people are not even close to the top of the list of racists.

People are still 'afraid of being labeled racist'? I thought that mule died years ago. I'd much rather be labeled racist than politically correct.

I thought conservatives were in favor of private groups deciding their own membership? I heard that argument all of my life at the country club.

Anonymous said...

No group gets to decide their own membership if it is a group made up of whites. Only black groups have the right to limit their membership to those of the same color.
When will you racist crackers learn?

James 2:1-4
My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. For if a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes, and there also comes in a poor man in dirty clothes, and you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, "You sit here in a good place," and you say to the poor man, "You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool," read more.
have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives?

Acts 17:6
and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,

From my comments, the only thought process you had was my DNA- the epotime' of irrelevance. It's amazing how my words allowed both of you to label me as belonging to certain race because of your inability to accept the words which were spoken. March 3 says I am a "person of color" and March 2 says "I am so white." My point is proven. Thank you for your display of equivocal attitudes.By the way- you were both right!

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
