Department of Public Works Responding to Areas Impacted by Flash Flooding
The City of Jackson has closed Westhaven Boulevard between Wynndyke Circle and South Drive due to flooding. The Department of Public Works has responded to the following flooded areas:
Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive & Oak Street
Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive & Maderia Avenue
Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive & Palmyra Street
Livingston Road & Mayes Street
Fontaine Avenue & Collier Avenue
Hanging Moss Road & Beasley Road
McRaven Road
Monument Street @ Capers Street
Industrial Drive @ Boling Street
Shady Oak @ O’Bannon Street
Mc Cluer Road @ Henderson Road
Casa Grande Circle @ Myer Avenue
Hanging Moss Road @ Beasley Road
Fontaine Avenue @ Collier Street
Melwood Drive
Monument Street @ Mill Street
Monument Street @ Palmyra Street
Mayes and Livingston Road
Motorists are encouraged to avoid flooded areas. Anyone trapped by high water should call 911.

When Jackson floods, the flood water is usually a mix of rain water and raw sewage. Avoid the poop!
Melwood has flooded for years any time it rains.
Yes, 10:07 - and that is true for most everywhere that floods that has a sewer system. The flooding waters inundate the sewer lines through the vent systems at the manholes; the water fills up the sewer lines and they overflow. Glad you noticed in Jackson; if you look you will find it everywhere else that floods. Not defending Jackson, but not looking at it like Jackson has unusual Sh#t that floats and yours doesn't
