Vote today

Consider this the Presidential Primary post. The Trumpster wowed 'em in Madison yesterday while Cruz paid homage to all things catfish and the giant cross in Florence.   Kasich be-bopped through here last week although he met with "The Party" instead of the voters.  Can't trust the folks with pitchforks, you know.  We got to see Bill himself grace us with his presence as Fondrenites oohed and ahhed.  Bernie? Who dat be?  Bernie didn't even visit the state. Oh well.  Here is a round up of the primary news:
Governor Bryant endorsed Ted Cruz yesterday.  The Cruz campaign issued this statement:

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant Endorses Ted Cruz for President

Today, the Cruz for President campaign announced the endorsement of Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant. This comes on the heels of Cruz acquiring the highest number of delegates on Super Saturday.

“It’s time for Republicans to join together and unite the party for the good of our state and our nation,” said Gov. Bryant. “I urge my fellow Mississippians to join me in standing behind Ted Cruz tomorrow.”

“I am honored to have the support of Governor Bryant who is committed to uniting conservatives across his state and the nation behind my campaign," said Cruz. "The people of Mississippi are fed up with they dysfunction in Washington and know this is the time for courageous conservatives to unite.”

Phil Bryant was sworn in for his second term as Mississippi’s 64th governor on January 12, 2016, after being elected with 67% of the vote.

Kasich visited Mississippi last week:

Then there was Trump.  They packed the house at Madison-Central High School yesterday and another seven thousand watched Trump give his speech on the scoreboard's video screen.

Here is a video of the former President visiting Cups in Fondren:

Kingfish note: The last five days have shown why Mississippi should not be a part of Super Tuesday.    The state got its own day in the Presidential sun.

Voting for Kasich or Rubio is the same as voting for Trump. That is the bottom line. Take off your blinders. Kasich isn't going to win Michigan or Illinois and will struggle to win Ohio where Taggart and crew make it sound like he's a juggernaut. Ohio alone isn't good enough. Rubio isn't going to win Florida. He's done. If you are a Republican and seriously want to stop Trump beyond mouthing the words then you vote for Cruz.

BTW, if Trump is the nominee he beats Clinton.

We just voted.
Three voters.
Precinct 35.

Carson +1
Cruz +1
Trump +1

Harper +0
Giles +1

Billingsley +3

Anonymous said...

@9:31 a vote for Carson was a waste of time. He cancelled his campaign.

Why do people say a vote for someone is really a vote for someone else? When a person chooses to vote for one person that means they pick that one person as the best qualified for the job. It has nothing to do with the other politicians.
Usually the losers try to say a vote for a certain politician is the same as a vote for another politician. If you pick a loser to vote for do not try to con others into voting for them.

@9:31 = mouth breather.

Switched my vote after going to the Trump rally last night and voted Dem for the first time in my life. Republican party is gone.

The "a vote for A is a vote for C" logic is quite often true when "A" is some fringe nut or third party guy, but really doesn't work in this case, as Kasich is a legitimate candidate. And not IF but WHEN this issue goes to convention, you may see the party put him in there, or at the very least as a vice presidential candidate.

If, God forbid, we are inaugurating Hillary or Bernie next year, remember when we ignored Kasich, who really has acted like the only adult in the room.

Anonymous said...

10:34, I'm glad to read there were thoughtful people in the room.

Only people who think Kasich has a remote chance are the RINOs. GOP won't dictate to Trump his running mate.

The GOP has you RINOs know it is history. Gone. Kaput. Thank God.

It literally makes me sad to see the people standing behind Trump and cheering him on in that video. Unfortunately I can't figure out a loving Christian way of saying "if you support Donald Trump you are either completely and willfully ignorant, a racist, or simply too stupid to realize you are one of the first two".

Anonymous said...

The Pubs and Pacs are working hard and spending unprecedented sums to dump trump.
Some segments are threatening to go dimocrap if he gets the nomination.
Trump is at best a moderate, nothing conservative about him. He knew all the hot buttons to touch at Madison, in order to arouse the herd.
On the other hand, the present elected congress is being steered by their handlers.
I don't have a solution, but will cast my vote for Cruz.

I cast my ballot for Kasich today as I felt he is the only candidate that has the potential and the demeanor to possibly unify a majority of republicans and democrats together as Americans. As a country we are going to have to realize that it is ok to have differing views as long as we stay unified as Americans. Currently, we are our own worst enemy (or elected career politicians one)

At my precinct in northeast Jackson, someone from the ms Democratic Party is stopping cars and handing out fliers saying to vote for Walter Michel and Hillary Clinton. That alone is enough to vote for billingsley.

Anonymous said...

@11:12 I do not think calling people racists whom you do not know is a Christian thing to do. Oh well the word racist no longer has any meaning so I guess its ok.

If you have enjoyed what has happened to the U.S. in the last 20 years you should vote for another life long politician.
If you are tired of seeing jobs go out of this country, politicians stealing from your children, the U.S. become a dumping ground for other countries, out of control spending, and loosing the middle class you should try voting for anyone besides a life long politician.

Something to remember. If your pick for office cannot even win their own primary do not expect them to win against the other party if you are successful in stealing the nomination.

Donald Trump isn't getting the required votes to win outright, and he's going to lose a brokered convention. He will then run as an independent.

Hillary will be the next president. Just like Bill could thank Perot.

@ 11:11, I didn't vote for Kasich, but I don't think you can call all of his supporters RINOs. His campaign chairman was Kirk Fordice's chief of staff. It's hard to be more red-hot blooded conservative Republican than that.

Anonymous said...

Would have voted Rubio but went with Cruz. He is the only candidate that can stop Trump and give Republicans a chance in November.

Another Kasich vote here. Could not stomach any of the others. Agree with 11:33 that he is a unifier, but also extremely qualified with his past experience. And sad to say that maturity and kindness have to be a consideration. That used to go without saying.
And 11:11, holler "RINO" all you want. I'm Republican and this is MY vote.

Anonymous said...

I voted for Bernie Sanders.

Acts 4:32-35

Matthew 25:34-46

12:13: "loosing the middle class"...

Loosing??????

I voted Kasich. He's demonstrated thoughtful conservative leadership during his political career. He's exercised civility and decorum in the face of madness and self-destruction. That's the kind of leader this country needs.

12:38, Not a Bernie hater and your vote is your right. But just have to say I have always worked hard. I share my possessions with my family, extended family, and friends. I give time and money to charities. But I do not wish to have it taken by the government and distributed as they see fit.
And I have fed many at my table, and have bought meals for those on the street. I did not give them cash to spend as they wished.

Ben Carson said it best: "Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money."

Let's see...the GOP choices:
- A guy that talked about the size of his penis in a debate;
- A Latino adderall addict;
- A lying politician from Texas that approximates the national version of Chris McDaniels; or
- A guy that worked for Ronald Reagan, helped balance the US budget in the 1990s and has helped right the ship in Ohio (as a Republican).

The Democrat Choices:
- Vermont Santa Claus that has as much economic knowledge as my dog; or
- A Clinton that did nothing in the Senate, was as bad of a Secretary of State as the country has ever seen and is a person under investigation for numerous felonies by the FBI (when her own party is in power).

Great to see John Reeves, Mr. "General Practise Attorney" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtpoPwP5LQA) standing there proud of himself and the criminal defense work he thinks he does...

Problems with ballots in Madison County. The Senate race is on all ballots according to a person in the SOS office.

I voted for the only grown-up in the room.

Anonymous said...

How long before Trump decides to run as an independent?

Anonymous said...

@4:05 PM, It is too late for him to run as a third party candidate. The only thing he could hope for now would be to encourage voters to stay home or write in his name in an effort to screw over the GOP.

Anonymous said...

I'm with 2:50. Going with the grown-up.

Anonymous said...

You have to be pretty ignorant to believe there is anything conservative about Trump, a man who supports abortion, socialized healthcare, and tariffs.

Anonymous said...

5:26. You would be surprised at how many Republicans are pro-choice. If the party would get off their sanctimonious cloud, they might win a few presidential elections.

Anonymous said...

4:15, it is never too late for a write in vote. Does anyone actually think those who vote for Trump will vote republican if the republicans steal the election from him?

Anonymous said...

I voted for Jeb! Anyone who has the balls to sell a Guaca bowle (sic) on his website for $75 (still available!!!) with Jeb! engraved in the side is who I want in the White House.

Psychological Assessment said...

How does one actually wind up foolish enough to vote democrat simply because they were turned off by remarks at a rally?

I'll tell you how. They were top-water mental midgets to begin with. With no skin in the game. Watchers of The View. People who are up watching the jewelry channel and vacuum cleaner info-mercials. People who actually believe Jerry Lake commercials. The unredeemable. Those who can't back out of their driveway without assistance. Never lit a charcoal fire. People who take the Ridgeland exit when they were actually headed to Pelahatchie for pork skins. That's who.

7:17, or a person willing to make up his own mind.

Do those who voted for Hillary remember what happened when the Clintons had to leave the White House? They stole everything they could carry. They had to be forced to bring it back. How can people vote for her and look at themselves in the mirror?

@12:38pm

There were lots of signs and wonders happening in the early church that not longer occur. Jim Jones got his followers to sell all their possessions and then drink the cool aid. We are still admonished to tithe today but I'm not drinking the Bernie Cool aid.
Let's start with you selling your possessions and giving the proceeds to the gubment. Let us know how that works out.

" 4:15, it is never too late for a write in vote. Does anyone actually think those who vote for Trump will vote republican if the republicans steal the election from him?"

Maybe not ever too late. But, write in votes are not counted in most states. So why don't you go ahead an follow your intelligent knowledge of what is "never too late" and write in Trump's name if he is not the nominee. After all, he does love the undereducated - you'd fit right in.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't make a person under educated to write in a name. All it takes is knowing the people on the ballot are crooks. Some people will just hold their nose and vote for one of the crooks. Sounds like that is really the under educated people. They know they are voting for a crook and think they have no other recourse. Does that sound familiar?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
