Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

This is great news for Jackson and tri-county. The "brother n law" deals will cease now.
Southwest????????
the brother in law deals are just beginning!
Guess reading the bills helped.
YES, This is Really Good News!!
Southwest IS.NOT.COMING.BACK. Shut the hell up about it. If you still think this about Southwest leaving, you are an idiot.
There has never been a more incestuous place than Rankin County. You ain't begun to see brother in law deals until you see what happens next.
So, 4:40P.M. what about JetBlue?
No airlines are coming to Jackson. Even Memphis which is much larger can no longer attract airlines.
What about Trump Air and Virgin? Yall are nuts. Putting Rankin people in charge is not going to change the economics of the airport.
Jackson is the worst run city in this country and the State had better step in when ever possible to keep people safe.
Southwest IS.NOT.COMING.BACK. Shut the hell up about it. If you still think this about Southwest leaving, you are an idiot.
Did you forget to take your medication today?
the changes that you see with this, once it ever actually happens after all the lawyers make a few millions over the lawsuits, will be that the lawyers that are currently sucking in big monthly fees will change to another set of lawyers that suck in big monthly fees. For those of you that constantly like to bitch about B/S, hope you aren't the same ones on this site thinking this is a good move, because your favorite whipping boys at the 13-story building were the driving force behind this change.
And, if you are wanting to catch a flight on SW, better be planning on driving quite a ways, cause they ain't acoming back to JAN anytime soon. Or ever.
5:56 Have you read anything about the Airline industry in the past 10 years? It's dying and nothing is coming to Jackson. This isn't right, plain and simple.
The only thing the elected officials in Jackson can run is their mouth.
I really hate to hear people bash Jackson but it has been terribly mis-managed for a very long time. I like Tony Yarber and I'm seeing great things out of Priester and a few others. They are trying to make a difference. Jackson dodged a huge bullet when LaBumbaloo Jr. lost the mayoral race so get behind the current leadership and help the good guys as much as possible. I'm not defending Jackson's mistakes and there should be better solutions for the airport...gives me hope. So I'm praying for city, county and state leaders to come together to do great things for the Jackson Metro Area. Perhaps, one day Jackson will be rid of the Stokes model of leadership and move ahead as an inclusive city.
Is it being suggested here that Feel's intentions are less than honorable? If so, spit it out and quit dancing around the campfire.
Believe it or not, nothing the airlines do is based on the composition of the JMAA board. Its based on financial demographics. Although there is a spattering of a few affluent people in the tri county area, we are not magically going to be able to compete with much larger cities like New Orleans just because Josh Harkins friends are in charge.
the GOP will bring southwest back. and sharks with laser beams
Tate 1, Gun 0.
We have had years of nothing being done except putting buddies on the board. Time to let the other side have a chance. They can't possibly do anything worse than what we have had.
Yep, affirmative action works both ways !!
Party at the Blackmon mansion tonight.
Theme: “We might loose, but we pissed off Whitey"
Complaining that you can't fly Southwest is like complaining that you can no longer get a McRib.
I'm hoping the deranged 'Southwest ain't coming back' sock puppet posts the same comment another 100 times.
6:30 is right on target. Get rid of Stokes and the entire city council. Give accountability back to one person, the Mayor. All the city council has done is add more government and waste time and money. Not to mention the VERY large racist black eye left by the Stokes types. Its foolish and unnecessary.
Look for Malcolm and Leland to be slud into airport commish positions. Maybe Bracy Coleman to add a little color and because Feel still owes Bracy. Dr. Sethi, if he's still alive, could fill the overseas slot. And just to round it out with somebody who has airport knowledge and experience, Karl Banks of Rt 2 Flora.
maybe the folks that were so worried about Jackson not being in charge can now focus on cleaning up Jackson instead of letting the airport go the same way Jackson's been...
POTW goes to @9:22.
It's very unlikely we'll see any new airline come to Jackson anytime soon regardless of who's on the board.
However, the majority of Jackson's elected officials are incompetent, crooked, or both, and the airport will be better for the change.
Those supporting this are in for quite a shock .
Will they question themselves when Southwest doesn't come back?
And, will they be surprised when , like with the outlet mall, only the developers and politicians get rich? Oh wait, y'all didn't know Off 5th is leaving? And, that the others will soon follow? Y'all looking at the condition some of the businesses and buildings in the commercial strips along Hwy 25 in such a short period of time?
Yeah, boy, Rankin county sure is well run!
I cringe every time I see the "shrine" display to the City Council members at the airport.
Where is the diversity, sensitivity and inclusiveness? oh that's right, it only works one way. Idiots.
It's like dis and dat! Who kilt da mayor?
Let's put politics aside for just a minute. Let's ignore Southwest leaving or any other allegation of mismanagement. And let's totally forget about any accusation of racism.
This bill is a lawyer stimulus package. You simply can't vote to take property from a municipality. This will end up in litigation for years to come, and in my opinion, the BEST case outcome for proponents of regionalizing the airport is that eventually the State will have to spend nearly $100 million to acquire the airport and the land from the city of Jackson. That's only after having to pay millions in legal fees.
And I'm not saying Southwest is or is not coming back, but no airline has ever made a decision based solely on the management and tax rate of an airport. The only way to get Southwest back is to give them a reason, whether it be a large new industry (like Airbus coming to Mobile) or a dramatic growth in population that increases the number of potential customers. However, for now, the writing is on the wall, Mississippi is NOT open for business. We continue to make decisions that negatively affect our national reputation. At this point in time, our best bet for attracting investment is through manufacturing, but when our factory level worker is so poorly educated and unable to handle simple jobs, we will continue to be passed over. I voted against throwing money at Education, but our lawmakers need to stop bickering over gays and airports and spending cuts, and start looking into how to properly educate the people of this State.
I honestly believe that this legislative term has been one of the most foolish and wasteful I have ever experienced, and I'm incredibly disappointed that the agenda of this super-majority was dominated by buzz words and meaningless legislation.
One contagion theory after another. Only thing @12:09 didn't drop was a claim to be a Republican.
... but no airline has ever made a decision based solely on the management and tax rate of an airport.
NO airline, EVER, based SOLELY.
LMAO
@12:17
Do you actually understand contagion theory or do you just think that buzz words are more fun than content?
I stand by my assertion that airlines choose their routes based on a large number of factors and the management of the airport would NEVER be the sole deciding factor. Switching the board may improve the airport, but that doesn't even begin to cure the issues with Mississippi's attractiveness as a business destination.
And I'm not claiming to be a Republican or a Democrat. I don't think business issues are political. Next time listen to a company's earnings call or forecasts, let me know how many business decisions were motivated by anything other than profitability.
This bill is a lawyer stimulus package.
You simply can't vote to take ...
This will end up in litigation for years to come...
... the BEST case outcome ...
the State will have to spend ...
That's only after having to pay millions ...
THEN
... no airline has ever made a decision based solely on the management and tax rate of an airport.
But, but, but ...
I stand by my assertion that airlines choose their routes based on a large number of factors and the management of the airport would NEVER be the sole deciding factor.
Lordy, lordy now Carl suddenly says he is in talks with a new low-cost carrier. LOL LOL LOL
There is a consensus that corruption will be around. It will only be a different group of people. When the leadership in Jackson comes to realize they will have a fighting chance when they get rid of the "Kenny Stokes" of the leadership pool then and only then will they have a legitimate and fighting chance to control their own destiny.
The City administration cannot even provide safe water. You think they do better with airport safety?
The current airport manager is, by all accounts, a good person to lead. I'm sure he's talking to all lower-cost airlines all the time--regardless of the board. And frankly, after having worked where he's worked--I'm sure he's thinks there are and have been some real morons on the board.
let's face it--boards=money. rankin county just wants in on the money
Just a different set of politicians getting kickbacks from a different group of businesses or firms
All Jackson has to do is make the airport a criminal haven like they have done with Jackson. After a few murders, lots of theft, plenty of carjacking, cars stolen from parking lot, and Kennuff Strokes hanging around sweating on everything no one will fly in or out.
Then there's this:
6:30 p.m. likes Yarber and sees great things coming out of Priester, like announcing that Clinton will be the next Ferguson.
I've heard that a certain white legislator owns a lot of land surrounding the airport and that he and his buddies are looking for some get-rich-quick development once the state takes over.
Sorry guys, noticed none of us Jackson taxpayers are out there with you matching . Its because of what you've done to our city ,school system and property values since you took over. While the state its at it , please consider taking over JPS too . These kids deserve a lot more than they getting right now .
