Tragic. Makes me so sad and so damn mad, too. Prayers for her daughter, family, and friends.

This is just so sad! I met Carolyn a couple of years ago. I was so taken with her as such a beautiful, down to earth lady.
She was precious and will be missed. Prayers for her friends and family.

So sad. How come criminals can profile and law enforcement cannot?

Either:
(1) they won't be caught, or
(2) the death penalty will not be involved.

Anonymous said...

So unnecessary and sad. These thugs should be shot and let to slowly die.A very large reward is the only way to catch them but the system in Hinds county will cut them loose if caught.

Murder. In Belhaven. This is a great community with great people. Our city is better than this. This can't happen again. We have got to push this crime out. Theyll get shot if they mess with any of my people.

Thoughts to her family.
Something weird about this I can't put my finger on.

Praying for family. Also praying that jpd can arrest the individuals responsible for commiting such a senseless act.

Anonymous said...

JPD can arrest. The Judge can sentence, but then Dept of Corrections will release them on house arrest before the year is out.

Dear News Media, is this a hate crime? is there some logic to a hate crime while this is pure thug action?
Indifference to life? how about indifference to the thug's lives!

Where is the outrage from all the spineless fondrenites? Donna? Jeff? It is exactly what I thought, doesn't fit in the progesssive agenda.

Watching local morning news for over an hour this morning and still no mention of this death. Such a horrible tragedy.

Also going unreported is the recent outbreak of auto burglaries in Woodland Hills.

Posted on NextDoor 4 hours ago:

My wife and her friend were car jacked at gun point at about 1:15 this morning in front of Rainbow Grocery. 3 black males pulled up in a stolen silver Dodge Charger blocking them in. They came to each side of the car and told them to get out of the car and hand over everything. They pistol whipped my wife's friend as he was complying and getting on the ground. My wife was driving a white Kia Sorento with Children's Hospital tag A989.

WAPT reporting:

Police said the men stole a silver Chrysler 300.

A resident, who didn't want to be identified, said the men also stole her neighbor's phone and then drove off in a burgundy car, which police told her was also stolen.

The Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger were the same color and are the same basic vehicle platform.

Burgundy is often mistaken for maroon.

I don't take out my garbage or check my mail without protection. Maybe the perp will find that out the hard way.

While I'd like to agree that "Our city is better than this. This can't happen again.", it really isn't better - and it certainly can, and will, happen again, over and over.

Add two more carjackings last night...

MAKE THAT THREE- see poster at 8:27

WLBT facebook page shows numerous people reporting similar armed robberies in the area as well. This is apparently more rampant than we imagined. I am praying for you, my Jackson neighbors. Please stay safe.

Where do you get three from? I count five in Jackson last night.

Raymond Road
Keele Street
Eastwood Place
Bellevue Place
Rainbow Grocery

I don't understand how the yuppies can still repetitively scream that Jackson can be saved. It's like they have a death wish.

I am still confused how the crooks were close enough to her to grab her purse but we still do not have ANY description of the shooters? Race, height, weight appx age etc??? I am praying for family as well.

Anonymous said...

One of the victims reported at Rainbow (8:27 AM) was pistol whipped as was Ms. Temple. This has to be the same wild animals.

Anonymous said...

and lets not forget the shooting on president street this morning....

Anonymous said...

attn. 8:27, what was you WIFE and a MALE friend doing out at 1:27 in the morning?

Anonymous said...

It's just so damn senseless!

The recovered purse is likely the most valuable thing they stole!

I'm fairly confident that, like most of us, Carolyn carried little cash and her credit cards that were immediately cancelled.

Now these stupid thugs have nothing to lose and if they've succeeded in getting gas and food money , they may not stay in the area so we all should be on the alert.

But, then they are so idiotic, who knows? They may be dumb enough to stick around!

Once upon a time, these guys would have been permanently institutionalized in Whitfield , medicated and mopping the floors there long before they ever had a chance to prey on society!

And, for the equally stupid, it's not a hate crime when theft takes place, only when you kill just to kill those whom you hate.

Can we try for once not to make a horrible tragedy worse?!? and politicize f'ing everything!?!

Proper ways to respond to a tragedy (such as this) include: (1) offering condolences; (2) engaging in discourse about how to solve the underlying problem; or (3) keeping your mouth shut (or in this case, your hands off the keyboard).

The above is in stark contrast to the pricks at 9:17 am and 6:38 am, who think that now is an appropriate time to either (1) shit-talk a community that is currently suffering; or (2) make this event a political discussion about liberals.

Of course, Jackson is facing problems. No less obvious is the fact that Jackson can be saved. It is only a matter of coming together and working to improve the community. There are many positives that happen in Jackson as well. RIP, Ms. Temple, you will be missed.

"Can we try for once not to make a horrible tragedy worse?!? and politicize f'ing everything!?!"

- Before this statement you call others that post "stupid".
Making it worse, no?

Anonymous said...

KF, can you please open another thread on crime in Jackson -- it can even be Belhaven specifically, if that's what works best -- so that everyone can comment on the overall problem on a thread that isn't focused on condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Temple?

Don't know how you missed it.

Please stop 10:19. After you wash out your mouth with soap go start your own blog.

What's open in Rainbow shopping center ar 1:15?

Use the Devine post. Its more appropriate. Sometimes on posts such as this one, where someone died, I let people vent some as they are angry and frustrated and want to let it out. They haven't crossed the line. I'm not going to allow the comments that just start firing up the Jackson v. the burbs debate.

BREAKING at WAPT:

Jackson police believe they may have cornered two or three men suspected of targeting women, including Carolyn Temple, who died Monday night of injuries suffered during a shooting and robbery in Belhaven.

Mid-morning Tuesday, officers spotted a white 2011 Kia Sorento that had been reported stolen overnight and pursued it.

Police swarmed an area along McDowell Road and Oak Forest Drive, along with Woodside Drive and Gunda Street. Officers set up a perimeter and deployed the Metro One helicopter to search for the men.

"It is only a matter of coming together and working to improve the community."
The solution to the problems in Jackson have gone well beyond the quoted statement. Anytime a curfew for all age groups is mentioned, somebody screams "you can't do that as it's my right to travel freely!" Everyone is so concerned about their "rights" & and if disputed, the race card is pulled. Jackson is a 90% black urban area, so race should not be a factor! Business's need to close at 11:00pm, and nobody should be out after midnight without a work ID. Harsh? Yes it is. The National Guard should also be posted at most intersections during the daylight hours. Harsh? Yes it is, but it will work.

WLBT reporting: Police search south Jackson neighborhood for 2 armed and dangerous men

Authorities are out in force in south Jackson right now.

We're told they are searching for two men they consider armed and dangerous.

We believe they are connected to an armed carjacking of an SUV; now wrecked in a neighbor's yard.

Authorities believe the men are on foot near McDowell road.

Metro 1 air support has been brought in to assist in search.

Our crew on the scene is reporting the armed officers are going house to house on Woodside drive.

Heavily armed officers have formed a perimeter surrounding the scene.

How horrible. I feel for the family, who not only had to endure a senseless crime against a loved one, but deal with her recovery, the fact that she apparently died suddenly and unexpectedly after taking a pill in the hospital, now her funeral arrangements, news media intrusion and a criminal investigation. Not to mention if there's any civil litigation to come out of this, on the med mal front. Also terrible to see such a unique, together n-hood like Belhaven take this one in the teeth.

I never thought this blog site to be a 'condolences board'. Those expressions are best offered during visitation or by posting online to the funeral home site.

People don't gather here to warmly hug each other and express sympathy. This ought to be a place to muster anger, express fear, scream loudly and demand change.

Harping about how safe the place is and setting up an orchestra for a rendition of Kumbaya can take place at Smith Park.

Put down the Cognac 12:09. You have no factual information upon which to base that crap.

JPD got two of them!

Anyone on dialysis 24/7 has got major health issues, gunshot wound or not. Sepsis mostly likely set in along with c-diff. My prayers to the family.

This is so very sad. But there is something that is NOT being said about this story. Something is really strange about it. Time will Tell... I hope JUSTICE is served and ALL parties involved are severely penalized.

Anonymous said...

2:43 You are hinting that there is more to Mrs.Temple's death than just a robbery gone bad? Who would be ALL parties other than those who robbed and shot Mrs Temple? I think you are just floating wild statements to get a rise.We have plenty of real bad guys so there is no need to make up any more.

It's a murder charge now. Gotta find these people.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
