President Obama announced he was suspending the deportation of illegal immigrants:
"There are more than 10 million people who are in the U.S. illegally; it’s clear that we can’t deport such a large number. So the Administration has developed a strategy to make sure we use those resources in a way that puts public safety and national security first...
So DHS, along with the Department of Justice, will be reviewing the current deportation caseload to clear out low-priority cases on a case-by-case basis and make more room to deport people who have been convicted of crimes or pose a security risk. And they will take steps to keep low-priority cases out of the deportation pipeline in the first place. They will be applying common sense guidelines to make these decisions, like a person’s ties and contributions to the community, their family relationships and military service record. In the end, this means more immigration enforcement pressure where it counts the most, and less where it doesn’t – that’s the smartest way to follow the law while we stay focused on working with the Congress to fix it." White House press release
The New York Times reported the change this morning:
"WASHINGTON — The Obama administration announced Thursday that it would suspend deportation proceedings against many illegal immigrants who pose no threat to national security or public safety." Article
What does this have to do with Haley? Well, you might remember Mr. Barbour was a lobbyist for the Mexican government at $35,000 a month to push..... amnesty. Time Magazine reported earlier this year:
"According to a State Department filing by Barbour's former lobbying firm, The Embassy of Mexico decided to retain Barbour's services on August 15, 2001, to work on, among other things, legislation that would provide a path to citizenship for foreigners living illegally in the United States--what opponents of immigration reform call "amnesty."
"Haley Barbour and I will lead the BG&R team," wrote Lanny Griffith, Barbour's former business partner, in the filing. According to subsequent filings, Barbour's work included "building support in the legislative branch for passage of a bill related to Section 245(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act." As part of that work, Barbour's firm arranged meetings and briefings with "Senators, members of Congress and their staffs, as well as Executive Branch Officials in the White House, National Security Council, State Department, and Immigration & Naturalization Service." Barbour's firm charged Mexico $35,000 a month, plus expenses.
At the time, Mexico was seeking an extension of a provision that allowed undocumented immigrants living in the United States to receive legal visas or green cards without returning to their country of origin, provided they pay an additional fine." Article Here is an image of the filing made by his firm:
Backdoor amnesty for illegal immigrants. Is that the kind of change we want from Barbour & Obama?

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

I hope your bloggers read the entire article and not just the headline.
It's not a plan to stop deportation but to prioritize it.
I for one, would rather deport criminals first instead of the current practice of taking the cases in order of receipt.
the rather large lame duck needs to go
Working on a project to more clearly establish and tool-up the so called 'path to citizenship', doesn't necessarily mean working to fast-track illegals, as I suppose is your intention and suggestion. Are you sure you don't also have a photo of Haley with Jesse Jackson? Maybe walking arm in arm as in the old photo of Jesse and Patterson?
Uh-oh, Haley and the President are in a photo together. By the Barbours' logic, does this mean Haley is endorsing President Obama in 2012? Is he really a liberal? Better put out a mailer.
Obama's plan, and Haley has no role in it, is NOT a plan to prioritize anything. It's a plan to get his ass reelected. From the time he takes his first piss in the morning till the time he spits out his last watermelon seed at night, every move he makes is to that end.
Since crime is so out of hand in Jacktown, should we recommend the unqualified campus cop chief announce that she's going to concentrate on cap-poppers out on Medgar and won't be worrying about speeders, petty thieves, car-jackers and home invaders?
Obama's announcement can come to nothing good for American citizens, our bounty or our dream.
He's done nothing but send a signal to illegals here and there that the door remains open and the hallway has no monitor.
Obama's just implementing the DREAM act, you know. Despite the fact it didn't pass congress.
Great idea. This is the kind of leadership we need. These new immigrants work their tails off and don't spend all their time complaining about how this country has cheated them for 300 years.
Shadowfax- "Watermelon seed"? Really? Don't be a douche bag.
KF, just sending you a ha-ha on the "Kool Aid". Noticed the other day and made me look twice.
I have read that the South is expierencing the biggest demographic shift in the world right now but I can't say that I am surprised. Where I live, we now have more Mexican restaraunts than fast food restaraunts and this has all been within the last 10 years. Haley Barbour is a sell-out, literally.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/31/hispanic-population-rising-faster-than-anticipated_n_869209.html
It'd be one thing if they were good Mexican restaurants . . . .

try taqueria guadalupe
Apparently, you have never lived in Southern California. It is their land you stole.. remember? and second generation is not so grateful/

"Great idea. This is the kind of leadership we need. These new immigrants work their tails off and don't spend all their time complaining about how this country has cheated them for 300 years".
I love Taqueria Guadalupe. But before it opened, I would eye all the Mexican-looking people in Brookshires wondering what quantity of them was needed to get good Mexican food.
A friend of mine who does landscaping says he's very impressed with how hard the Mexican guys work. I think that's not uncommon.
I don't much care about immigration -- let the market decide -- but I don't like people coming in undocumented. I would prefer handing a green card to everyone who comes over the border, so that they're "in the system," to our present mess.
The problem of course is birthright citizenship and its associated problems. I would have no problem amending the Constitution to revise that so that children of non-citizens do not become American simply by virtue of being born here.
Also, while it's cruel to deny immigrant children education, emergency care, etc., the costs of that should be borne by the feds (i.e., distributed amongst the states) rather than falling so heavily on CA, TX, FL, etc.
[End of lecture.]
From the time he takes his first piss in the morning till the time he spits out his last watermelon seed at night, every move he makes is to that end.
Disgusting.
If money is to be made off of it, the Barbours are there.
Can you even imagine how much Charles Barbour will steal and lie if he gets in the senate? He's got Haley's last name but a whole lot less scruples and he can't keep himself out of trouble.
Can you even imagine how much Charles Barbour will steal and lie if he gets in the senate?
No I can't. Tell me, how much?
Not a big issue with me. Solving the problem is easy. State government take the power to confiscate any business or the property of any individual who hires an illegal alien. In other words, put 100% of responsibility on whoever hires an illegal. As an example, if an illegal is found working in a Wal-Mart anywhere in the U.S., the federal government can seize ALL Wal-Marts and sell them and their contents at public auction. If you hire an illegal to "do the yard," and get caught, the state or local government seizes your property and sells it at public auction. It's just that simple. That will end it.
Damn, going to be a lot of houses seized in Madison County.
Whatever happened to the $28 million Charles and Rosemary Barbour received for a no-bid contract to maintain FEMA trailers after Hurricane Katrina? Did the FBI confiscate some of it when it raided their office in a mail fraud investigation? Or did the Department of Labor take some when it investigated them for shorting employees out of overtime? Or do they still have it?
Or maybe the did nothing wrong at all?
So Haley sold out and has not even left office. Damn this appears wrong..
Haley sold out? How?
Don't just cast aspersions pussies.
@5:10 when was the last time you got a $28 million no-bid contract from the government?
I guess if Shadowfax had said "until he eats the last bite of his watermelon-arugula salad, with a nice aged balsamic vinaigrette" that wouldn't have been so "disgusting", and probably closer to the truth. Eating watermelon alone is just too "black" for Obama. Oh, wait. I'm white, and I eat watermelon all the time.
I left up that seed comment for one reason only and it was not because I approve it. Sometimes I let people show exactly how they really think for all to see.
It clearly shows a character flaw.
So how exactly did one arrive at the $28 million figure?
by the way, allow me to point out RB was never charged with anything and there is no evidence of fines or any other penalties. CB actually responded quite well in the JFP to that question.
True story: these were people I know personally. case one;21y/o male, hard worker, brought here as a child by father who came for Katrina clean-up.His car broke down, picked up by police,no criminal record, not druggie, deported within 1 month.
case 2: woman 35, came in with coyote help, stolefrom me and friends, caught, jailed, out on bond, smoking crack, stole $2000, arrested 2nd time, finally deported after a year and 2 serious crimes. go figure.
Perhaps my 'seed' remark might have been better accepted had I shaved it back a bit to read "Until he stops playing his 'moving on up' 8-track for the last time in the evening", a phrase which has been posted on here more than a fifty times. The hypocrisy on this site is exceeded only by the selective indignation suffered herein.
To more adequately view the selective indignation of the blog owner, take a gander at any of the various threads involving the black (then) candidate for sheriff or discussions of lawlessness in Jacktown. To gain an understanding of a good cross section of racist commentary by the old standbys who hang out here, that's all one need do. (SPatoooeeyye).
Not to let a little truth get in the way of the anons here, but, Charles Barbour did not 'get a government contract'. His wife did. She's from one of the Americas south of here and was awarded the contract legally, whether you like the process or not. Isn't 'no bid' the way its done in Mississippi?
You are right SF, your racist comment was allowed.
Shadow, we all know what you meant by that remark. You got caught. I normally would've zapped it but sometimes I will leave it up just so everyone else can see it. No one buys that 8 track comment. Not the first time you have not told the truth on this forum either. You sometimes like to start things and then throw mud on everyone else so no one looks at what you wrote.
Is the investigation over? Maybe not.
Apparently you don't know one way or the other. But what's a little misdirection smear amongst friends anyway.
Guy that just made a comment I didn't approve. You were right and I took down that comment.
"As an example, if an illegal is found working in a Wal-Mart anywhere in the U.S., the federal government can seize ALL Wal-Marts and sell them and their contents at public auction."
Unconstitutionally harsh, but the basic idea is good. If we really wanted to stop illegal immigration, we'd impose criminal sentences and harsh fines.
The fact that we've done no such thing tells you that the business community doesn't want the immigration to end. Like I said, ultimately the market should decide; but obsolete laws are creating some bad incentives.
I will always stand by my posts. You are blatantly incorrect to state I have "not told the truth" here and challenge you to back up that assertion. But, of course you cannot so you will not.
As has been pointed out elsewhere, Neither KF nor others seem to have any problem whatever with remarks leveled at other blacks (even calling them half blacks and mocking their vernacular as in the multitude of questionable remarks made on the sheriff threads), as long as it doesn't bleed over onto the prez. But, it's your blog; handle it as questionably as you like. When you call someone a liar, be prepared to either not publish their retort, or be prepared to reply to it.
