Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Wait, how can this be. Mac is going to court and kick ass.Yeah, sure.
turn off the lights.
Looking forward to taking my tax dollars to Rankin or Madison County. Y'all can have the idiot Chokme put in with racial campaigning. Wonder what these idiots will do when the rest of the tax base moves away? Black sheriff is fine - but low bred perjurer/thief is not. Good luck suckers!
Very unfortunate. I don't blame Mac. He gave us his best and was by far the best option. Unfortunately, people vote based solely on race and not qualifications. The liberals in Hinds County, now have what they have wanted for so long.
"The sheriff is near!"
In the words of Ralphie: FFFFFUUUUUDDDDDGGGGGEE!!!!!!!
WRITE IN MALCOLM MCMILLIN in General election and spell his name correctly or it wont count!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A write-in candidate is a candidate in an election whose name does not appear on the ballot, but for whom voters may vote nonetheless by writing in the person's name. Some states and local jurisdictions allow a voter to affix a sticker with a write-in candidate's name on it to the ballot in lieu of actually writing in the candidate's name. Write-in candidacies are sometimes a result of a candidate being legally or procedurally ineligible to run under his or her own name or party. In some cases, write-in campaigns have been organized to support a candidate who is not personally involved in running; this may be a form of draft campaign.
Write-in candidates rarely win, and votes are often cast for ineligible people or fictional characters. Some jurisdictions require write-in candidates be registered as official candidates before the election.[1] This is standard in elections with a large pool of potential candidates, as there may be multiple candidates with the same name that could be written in.
Many states and municipalities allow for write-in votes in a partisan primary where no candidate is listed on the ballot to have the same functional effect as nominating petitions: for example, if there are no Reform Party members on the ballot for state general assembly and a candidate receives more than 200 write-in votes when the primary election is held (or the other number of signatures that were required for ballot access), the candidate will be placed on the ballot on that ballot line for the general election. In most places, this provision is in place for non-partisan elections as well.
Don't think we can write him in but I might be mistaken.
The machine allows for a write-in and that is exactly what I will do. I refuse to vote for a lying low-life SOB. I will write in McMillin. They might not count it - but who cares at this point? I will NOT cast my vote for a perjurer/thief. Period.
8:22
TL;DR
I took Mac's "shinin'" (according to the folks who blew through here for a while) and his eventual decision to concede as a respectful "stand down".
Would love to see a great race as an Independent, not sure if it is possible with write in, but believe the facts of leadership would emerge under this scenario.
I imagine, a lot more would vote, and given it is under the watchful eyes of the election commission, hanky-panky is NOT an option.
Would be funny to see the party happenin' now is but a figment. Kinda' like an imaginary horse from Hobbit land, replete with el"V"es; Not el"F"s.
KK
Who loves ee...:?
I'm just disgusted.
One thing we can all agree upon...Marsha Weems Stacey is HOT!
someone should contact McMillin on facebook and tell him he is going to be a write in candidate. I will not vote for TLewis under any circumstances. Hopefully Jim Hood will grow a pair and press charges on Lewis for perjury ... or maybe Smith will grow some. Probably too late for both of them or it would have already been done. I can not believe they stand back and watched this happen knowing this election was full of fraud. What a couple of dirtbags.
" This is the profession we have chosen "
... said Hyman Roth to Michael Corleone .
Never trust anyone if you wish to run for a political office. The chances get higher with each re election that
those that you least suspect will hurt you the most.
7:29, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
Crowley,
You are a piece of work. Think you'll get pimped out under the new regime? You are pathetic.
This illustrates precisely why elections for Sheriff should be non-partisan just like judicial races. For that matter, the elections for DA, County Attorney, Justice Court and Constable should also be non-partisan.
Dear Sheriff, We are sorry. Thank you for all you have done.
I've said it before, and I'll continue to say it - and the MS Code will back me up.
Anyone thinking you can have a write-in campaign is barking up a tree with no squirrels atop.
Write-in votes are not counted in MS unless the name on the ballot has died or is otherwise unable to continue as a candidate.
It does not matter if you spell the name correctly or not.
They will not be counted - they will be treated as undervotes.
For those that wish to not vote for Lewis, you can accomplish the same result by just skipping the race. Either way, your vote will be considered as an undervote.
MS law prevails here - don't worry about what you may think can happen because of other states. In MS, a write-in vote is not counted.
And it is too late to run as an Independent. The qualifying deadline for that was the same as for party nominees.
Anyone who wants to bet differently on either a write-in vote or an Independent campaign, contact me. I'll take the bet and you can name the wager.
Pete Perry
I do wonder why Pete Perry is wasting his time telling us about write-in votes? I would certainly rather write in McMillin than vote for a perjurer.
Pete - do you have the MS code number so we can look it up? Thx.
"Think you'll get pimped out under the new regime?"
What does this mean? I don't speak white-guy-trying-to-talk-like-he-thinks-black-people-talk. Can you put it in plain English?
Sad day, indeed. Thank you Sheriff for the integrity you brought to this office for so many years.
Crowley, I think I have a "white-guy-trying-to-talk-like-he-thinks-black-people-talk" rag somewhere...oh yea, head on down to the local coffee shop and pick up the Jackson Free something or another. They have great lingo to help out with that language. I'm not talking about any race here btw.
;)
@10:56
SEC. 23-15-365.
Delta
20 years of rising crime, barely an effort of a campaign this year, and now bows out of this before a punch could be thrown. Thank you for your service, Malcolm. Now go home.
§ 23-15-365. Write-in candidates
"There shall be left on each ballot one (1) blank space under the title of each office to be voted for, and in the event of the death, resignation, withdrawal or removal of any candidate whose name shall have been printed on the official ballot, the name of the candidate duly substituted in the place of such candidate may be written in such blank space by the voter."
Pretty clear language there. But maybe there's a chance, depending on who has qualified to run in the general election. If one of the area's perennial candidates has qualified for November and can be convinced to withdraw after the official ballots are printed, that would be a triggering event for a write-in campaign.
So, are there any third-party candidates running for sheriff? I'd love to stick around and finish this solution for y'all but you will have to figure that one out on your own -- me and my Rankin County neighbors are heading to a meeting with Dick Hall to see about installing drawbridges on Highways 80 and 25 at the Pearl River.
Anonymous @ 7:09 a.m.: You are absolutely right. Sheriff McMillin goes home to Clinton. From the way he acted throughout this election it was almost like his ego got the better of him. I saw one of his television interviews with a young reporter and he was rude when there was no need. Elective office is WON not just freely given, no matter what your record is. Maybe he really was ready to quit and just didn't know how.
One thing I have found interesting and I wonder if anyone else has noticed, our Hinds County Circuit Clerk has said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. In that regard, it is now quite clear that this is her last four-year term.
8:22: "me and my Rankin County neighbors are heading to a meeting with Dick Hall to see about installing drawbridges on Highways 80 and 25 at the Pearl River."
Sounds like a great idea to keep the meth out of Hinds County.
Mac had 20 years to groom a decent black successor then hand the reins off. He failed / refused to do that and now Chokwe has chosen his successor. Ultimately Mac put his own ego ahead of the good of the county, and now we're all going to pay the price. When Mac was first elected he was the liberal Belhaven dreamboat -- pretty much the only Democrat in office who didn't look like a sissy. Mac screwed us big time.
9:01: What would you have Ms. Dunn to say? That made absolutely no sense. I am sure she and Mac have spoken, but to make a public statement? Why? And from all this you have deduced that she will not run again? How did you come up with that?
Mac was elected to groom a decent black successor?
Don't think so.
11:44: Ms. Dunn might have said "Thank You" for getting re-elected. As for running again, she's 74. As with a lot of politicians who end up making a "home" in a particular public office, at a point it's time to move on. If they won't, then the electorate will do it for them.
love it curt. add the white supremecist over and rankin too
Don't bring that white racist talk to Rankin County we do a good job over here of Reporting what we want out to the public.
Hinds county is going to be 100 percent black now they got what they wanted! Before long the blacks are going to be moving to rankin and Madison county to get away from Hinds county themselves!!
We can pool all of our money together and put up a concrete wall around hinds county! then they can sell their drugs and pimp each other out and they can have their own little community with all the crime!
Many people of all colors have been moving to Madison and Rankin for years.I am not prejudiced against my black neighbors. They dislike thugs and crime as much as I do.
Hinds County is going to be fine despite the racist comments and those cheering for its fall. Make sure not to cross the draw bridge if you need emergency trauma care. I am sure you can find in Rankin County.
@6:04, if we stay out of Hinds County then we won't need emergency trauma care, will we?
Let's look at facts Avery. Downtown Jackson has one of the lowest crime rates in all of metro. Stay in Rankin County and enjoy it's fine restaurants and cultural amenities. The Heart of Pearl museum of art is award winning.
326: "We can pool all of our money together and put up a concrete wall around hinds county!"
Helluva idea. A concrete wall would ensure that the next little Dedmon can kill somebody in his own neighborhood instead of ours.
Ok, ok...bottom line is this. The City of Jackson and Hinds County are run by a pathetic bunch of idiots, 90% of which are blatant racists themselves! The City Council is a freakin' joke, mostly because of the illiterate, yet irreplaceable, Kenneth Stokes. Now there is your real piece of work. Jackson will continue to lose its citizens and tax revenue...it's unstoppable at this point. Learn to live with it, because it is simply inevitable.
My personal opinion of Malcolm...he has done what one man can do, given the resources he had available to him. Tyrone Lewis? Just another freakin' joke! A racist joke at that...
Jackson doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of any type of recovery...it is what it is folks.
Dear curt Crowley...
People like dedmond come to Jackson to commit crimes cause they know they will not get caught MOST OF THE TIME! and THEY FIT IN BETTER IN JACKSON BEING ON DRUGS AND HANGING OUT IN TRASHY DRUG INFESTED JACKSON! it's ashame that decent people cannot go downtown Jackson cause they will get hurt! I BEY YOU HANG OUT IN OR NEAR DOWNTOWN JACKSON! THE DRUG INFESTED SLUMS!
Curt Crowley are u saying that Jackson is not crime infested and the drug slums? Your crazy! Rankin county nor Madison county not even leake county or Holmes county is as bad as Jackson so shut is Crowley and stay in Jackson!!! Hahahaha
Sincerely,
Rankin county proud resident!!!!!!
How many murders has Jackson had just in the year 2011 Crowley? How many has rankin and Madison had?? Hmmmmm ANSWER CROWLEY!!??
Christine perry
@7:03 um Jackson has one of the lowest crime rates? Are u stupid or uneducated or both? Where have u been? Jackson is terrible!!!!!
1023.........I said downtown Jackson. To answer your question, I am highly educated and plan to stay in Jackson.
12:56 - I got my thank you note. Did you contribute to her re-election? Apparently not. It would appear the "electorate" did not have a problem with her age this election.
"How many murders has Jackson had just in the year 2011 Crowley? How many has rankin and Madison had??"
You mean murders that weren't committed by little monsters from Rankin County? And how do I count that anyway? When a thug from Trucknuts County comes over here and murders someone for shits and giggles, do I count that as a Jackson murder, or a Rankin murder?
Why is it that you rednecks can't sit your asses over there and be content with where you live? Why is it necessary for you to continually bash Jackson?
Hey, we get it. You don't want to live here. Thanks for sharing, but we really don't give a fuck. If you don't like it over here, then stay the fuck out. Simple.
Yes, Curt, the number of "murders that weren't committed by little monsters from Rankin County" will be fine. Subtract an entire 1 from your total if that makes you feel better. Now, what's that number, learned counsellor? (And please don't forget to say "fuck" a lot in your reply -- profanity often proves convincing when facts fail you.)
Proud resident of Pearl doesn't know much about Pearl's population... like the number of residents with a criminal background and the number of people receiving public assistance. Lots of chutzpah from a someone who lives in a town with their very own mass murderer.
Curt makes a living defending criminals. If this defense attorney lived in Madison/Rankin, he'd be out of business.
Based on his comments alone, Curt would be the last attorney I'd retain or refer. Although I'm sure most of his clients do not use the internet.
How many white folks in Jackson are victims of crimes committed by blacks?
The residents of Madison and Rankin Counties are so concerned with Jackson they are aware of the unfortunate sad truth that our state is represented to the rest of the U.S. by our capital city.
RE: August 13, 2011 12:55 AM - - - Yes, yes, it's the thugs from Trucknuts County that are running rampant in Jackson, isn't it? Has been for years, hasn't it?
Curt Crowley is an embarrassment to the bar. I think some of his statements are pretty close to the line of improper conduct. While I'm not a good judge of that, I have gathered about 50 of them and will be sending them to someone who can judge that on Monday AM.
What a prick.

$100 bucks says YOU DON"T DO SHIT.
310pm, the next time you threaten me, put your name on it. The statements I made in defense of Jackson are protected political speech, made as a citizen of the United States. My speech has nothing to do with any judicial proceeding, judicial officer, or even law in general.
You're probably from Rankin County, so you have a poor grasp of the limits of government power under the Constitution of the United States (ya'll still debating prohibition over there?).
Under the First Amendment, this type of speech is protected. Got a problem with it? Move. To another country.
He that lieth down with Dogs, shall rise up with Fleas. (Benjamin Franklin) Pretty easy to see where some of these people sleep. Thank GOD I will never need a criminal attorney.
I have a good grasp of the fax # for the General Counsel of the Mississippi Bar you whack job.
Get your meds regulated, whack job. It's apparent to all they aren't working. Fact is, you can't cut it in Rankin or Madison Co. Water seeks it's own level. Stay in Hinds Miss Curt. You two fit well together.
@1231. Then why don't all of the concerned residents of Madison and Rankin do something to help and stop critizing those who are trying. I don't see why any effort is spent by these conceded citizens making comments that seem to be cheering for the downfall of jackson.
$200.00 says I faxed it all less than 10 min ago and emailed it to others.
(#*$ me, whack job.
Anonymous 3:10 and 5:31, What is your name?
How dare you try to intimidate someone from exercising their freedom of speech rights? You don't have to agree with what somebody says or even read it if you do not want to. This is not what we stand for in America.
The man has the right to use the words he used. Have you thought about what will happen if you really did fax and email that trying to get this man in trouble? It will not be very hard to figure out who you are. You will be bankrupt by the time Crowley finishes suing you. Stepping all over other people's rights has consequences. I think you are about to learn how expensive it can be when you try to intimidate people.
I take offense at Mr. Crowley's ignorant, BIGOTED statement characterizing Rankin County residents as uneducated fools. I am a member of the Mississippi Bar along with several of my neighbors. I suppose my physician neighbors are just as ignant as I be?
5:31...BFD YOU ANONYMOUS CHICKENSHIT. PUT YOUR NAME WITH IT.
LCB...look around. Rankin County IS a redneck, REDNECK city. Still fighting liquor in 2011. Good Lord. Redneck ex-cop Mayor of Flowood (population 3200 because he will not expand the town borders).
Cops on RACIST steroids. City of Pearl looks like one big trailer park. NIKNAR Country Club (Rankin spelled backwards).
Not even Mayberry (like Florence).
Just one big country ass hick town.
Stay in Rankin with the CCC.
Redneck.
Gee 5:31 then I guess we'll know your true identity shortly.
I think, and I can be wrong, if Flowood's population stays under a certain level, the state has to pay for the road maintenance. Am I wrong?
Crowley is back on that marching powder again.
Ozzy..." Mr Crowley.....what went wrong in your head....? Oh Mr Crowley,,,,
@6:16, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
NIKNAR??? Now which cheerleader of all and only things downtown Jackson has worn that phrase out even to his family and friends??? NIKNAR?? Hmmmmmmmm.
@6:16, I suppose that things have come full circle. When I was a youngster living in Rankin County people from Jackson looked down their noses and were critical of Rankin County because that was where the illegal (at that time even for those in Hinds County) liquor was sold. When I would, as an impetuous youngster, point out that Big Red Hydrick would go out of business if not for the trade he got from Jackson I got no rational response. Now those who judge themselves to be morally superior criticize Rankin County because they don't sell liquor there. Which was is it?
I have lived in Rankin, Madison, and Hinds County. None are perfect. I chose not to live in Hinds for a number of reasons which are personal to me. And I do not criticize any one for where they choose to live. With that said, there are some very obvious problems in Hinds County. Somehow I don't think that Crowley throwing stones or legalizing liquor in Rankin County will do anything to solve them.
6:16..Since your are so culturally, morally and intellectually superior to those of us that choose to reside on the northshore of the resevoir(a place I happen to think is a great place to rear my three children), why don't you cite your educational(or any other kind, if you have them) credentials. There are rednecks in every county. Hinds is certainly no exception. Meth labs proliferate there as well. Crack houses, anyone? I am a former drug prosecutor and believe me, more happens in your Nirvana of Jackson than in the outlying areas.

Because growing up in Vicksburg just isn't that impressive when you need to snow people about your worldliness.
NIKNAR, NIKNAR, NIKNAR
8:51 While I fully agree with you that growing up in Vicksburg isn't impressive I totally fail to see ANY rationality in your comment. Care to try again?
Just want to shed light on the numbers that are being compared here. Please keep in mind Jackson carries about four times the population of either Madison or Rankin. So comparing crime rates is not apples to apples. There should only be a fourth of the crime, but then you throw in the demographics and Jackson is screwed. And yes considering the demographics of our jail population blacks commit majority of crimes.

Obviously you've never taken a statistics class in your life.
Which is a prerequisite for Jackson boosterism.
@9:05, I'm not 8:51 but I think s/he is suggesting that 6:16 is actually someone whose name rhymes with Ren Rallen.
The arrogance of the Rankin countians who have posted here is unbelievable.
There were 4 firebombs tossed at Jackson before one got thrown back. Then all hell broke loose about "ignorant, bigoted, blah blah blah" comments about Rankin.
Why is it OK for you to come on here bashing Jackson, but blasphemy when someone points out the problems in your own trailerhood?
Do you honestly believe that you are going to be allowed to trash Jackson at will, and that it's not going to be challenged? Sorry, folks. Not going to happen. Attack Jackson--get attacked back. Don't like it? Stop saying nasty things about Jackson and Hinds County.
Yall are so funny. As a proud Niknar citizen, my biggest concern is getting my doublewide repo'd and keeping my social security. As long as the rest of yall keep fighting importnat things like liquor and abortion, I don't really have any troubles with this great State
Does anyone know where I can find crime stats for Pearl? I would like to see the numbers and compare them to Jackson.
Pearl is not listed in the fbi Uniform Crime Reports like Jackson is. The fbi does not include little towns like Pearl in its reports. It looks like the town of pearl does not publish its crime reports either.
It would be nice to be able to compare Pearl and the other bedroom communities' crime numbers with Jackson.
Call or visit the Pearl Police Department. That is simply enough. If you are truly interested in the data.

Here is the fishy thing about rankin murder rates... Low murder, high suicide. Unsolved murders used to go as suicides in the county books. Bring high praise from the top places to live in polls with a low murder rate.
Just in case you are interested, the newly elected sheriff has ordered new cars.
