Yall politics has lost all credibility with me. They report only what they want to, and are the ultimate hypocrites. They slammed the Hewes campaign for loans, but don't seem to care one bit about Lynn Fitch's money coming from her daddy.

Her appointment with HRB was due to being a ___friend of ex-COS Charlie Williams. Had nothing to do with her Repub credentials. Just like none of her other state jobs.

The issue with Hewes was not his loans, but the fact that they seemed done in a way so as to inflate his campaign finance total for the reporting deadline, only to be repaid shortly after the finance report was filed (i.e. artificially portray his campaign as having more cash than they did).

Fitch's loans seem to be real.

In the race for Senate District 25, Charles Barbour has accused Will Longwitz of sticking gum under his desk and shooting spit balls at Sally Walford while in the 3rd grade. Longwitz has responded that the gum was actually placed under the desk by the class bully and that Sally Walford flicked a booger at him first.

If there is any daddy's money left in Lynn's campaign, I hear she will use it to add on an outdoor kitchen.

The Yancy/Fitch race and the Longwitz/Barbour race are just nightmares. there are 3 'names' associated with/endorcing Yancy and Fitch and those 3 'names' are people who I wouldn't trust in a dog fight. the Longwitz/Barbour one--good grief, never seen so much &^%$#.

I'm not saying this is good, not saying is bag, I'm just confused. Are the Fitchs and the Fareses related?

Don't get overwhelmed 3:22 this is what the high level political strategists are banking on. They know exactly what kind of negative campaign strategy that will lead to less people showing up in say a county like Madison County (75% of District 25 vs. 25% Hinds). They know the Sheriff's race is the only race that will bring out the voters. Very few Hinds voters will turn out for just a State Treasurers race and a little Senate race. Strategists do this in areas that their candidate needs to discourage voters from voting for anyone. It they run negative ads that take a scorched earth approach it usually pisses the voters off enough that they don't vote for either candidate. Usually it is just enough to help the opponent win. So far it appears to be working a couple of campaigns. I am going to bet that there is one candidate that has access to some of the best strategy that his family's money can buy. Don't fall for this and go vote for the candidate that is not doing this negative campaigning.

Amen, 8:16! My vote has changed in the last 24 hours...to the one NOT slinging the mud! There was also a candidate that I thought was good, just a little inexperienced when compared to his competitor. I thought I would probably vote for him in the future when his resume is a little longer. But, he has also lost my future vote because of the way he has conducted himself. All this mudslinging reeks of desperation! The better man or woman does not resort to such tactics!

Hinds County was the only major county in the state not to have Phase II or GPS 911 for cellphones. Minor issue, I know but pretty bad when even the Delta counties, Copiah, or Lincoln have it and the board did not do anything about it until July 09. Now, having said that, Barbour did not "raid" the funds, what he and the REST OF THE BOARD did was borrow against them and pay back a few months later with property tax collections. Keep in mind Pickering lobbied to ban this practice until all counties were Phase II compliant a couple of years ago.

Now to someone not in government that sounds horrible and I wrote about it on here but to most government officials I've talked to, including many conservative Republicans, its a standard way of doing business and not that big of a deal as the money is paid back into the funds borrowed against come Jan. or Feb. I would not have used the word raided but that is just me.

Then there is the matter of the interest rate swaps. Every word of it was true and I've written about it on this site. The candidate from Hinds County did vote for these swaps, nearly $50 million in bonds, using swaps, and Bond Pimp Porter Bingham has indeed made a lot of money off of them. He's been man enough to defend those two votes and I can respect that although I strongly disagree with it and consider it financially irresponsible. Anyone calling the candidate from Madison a liar on the swap claims is calling me a liar, period as I've documented the votes and facts quite thoroughly a long time ago.

Sorry I was vague, I was not referring to the Hinds race. Rather a state-wide race and a different Senate race. Also, I was referring to mailers I have recieved, not information from this site.

What are you refering to? I guess you are talking Senate 20. I have watched both senate races. I guess you are not a little perplexed at a candidate putting $100,000 of his own money in a race along with an additional $125k raised. You have to ask yourself why would a guy put that much money in a race for a job that pays $10,000 a year? HMMMMMMMM! Answer please voter. If you have one.

By the way, was he not even after the primary with said "inexperienced" opponent. If I were candidate and spent $225,000 and find myself dead even with "inexperienced" opponent, I would fire campaign staff. All of them. They are obviously hacks. I find the Senate 25 race much more appealing. Let the mud fly.

My point was that, for me, the negative ads work in reverse. I am sure others may feel differently, but that is how I see it. I realize "inexperienced" has a well-connected dad and is using those connections. I probably would, too.
I am not perplexed by candidate using his own money. It is his money and he can do what he wants. Is that the choice I would make...no. But, I would never choose to run for office either.

In the paper, today, Ross said he did "no research" on his opponent, but he has put out 4 mailers doing a comparison that I guess you think is not negative. Whatever. That mailer Ross sent out was condescending, arrogant, negative and, oh by the way, filled with false accusations. How does Ross know what experience the "inexperienced" has since he did not research? I guess he lied about his opponent!

Ross has put another $20,000 in this week for a total of $122,000. That is the most ever put in by a candidate for a Senate seat. Are Mississippi Senate seats up for sale? Sorry, but it reeks of desperation for Ross' desire to be a career politician.

@8:16. Understand all of the politico's tactics but thanks for saying it. I'm tired of the petty crud that supporters paste everywhere. I will always vote in every election. But I always try to base my vote on issues important to me, not this mamby-pamby crud that seems to get attention.

and that 'scorched earth' you were talking about-to me, it backfires on them. It pisses me off to see all the crud, but there is nothing that can stop me from voting. the scorched earth just means I'm gonna dig like nobody's business on the candidates. Not to 'find' anything, but to find out exactly who the candidate is, without the political race, without the careful wording, without the paid who-has who try to spin everything.
