Pride robs, pride hurts, pride destroys. Pride doesn't discriminate as it fells both privileged and poor. After all, it is so easy to brag when comparing oneself to others. It even fells the righteous as they look down on those who sin, forgetting they are all the same in the eyes of Heaven. Using the parable of the pharisee who bragged as he prayed, the late Dr. Frank Pollard discussed pride, calling it "grace turned putrid" as it short-circuit's many a Christian's faith. Enjoy the 1995 sermon posted below.
Scripture: Luke 18: 9-14
(NIV) 9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Want to have an argument with say, virtually anyone? Offer the belief that pride of any kind is unhealthy.

If you want to argue with a Christian then point out their sinful pride during a football game.
November 26, 2023 at 5:42 PM, what if they don't watch football games? Why would you want to argue with anyone, about anything? It sounds as if you're in conflict with yourself, maybe you need the Prince of Peace in your life.
November 26, 2023 at 2:14 PM, what about self-respect, isn't that technically a type of pride? Is self-respect a bad thing in your view? I personally think self-respect is sadly lacking in our time, actually respect of any kind is lacking.
