How many issues disscussed? Not a one has anything to do with systematic racism! Improper management and poor maintenance. Not enough qualified (and experienced) operators! Please some one in the national news media correct the picture being painted that Mississippi is still in the same place of the 1960s and the 1860s.Ob Curtis was self inflicted!

Once they find the key to the intake house maybe they could find a few guys hanging around Home Depot that could fix the hole in the roof.

According to this report, the State has 16 people deployed to the plant, the Feds have 4 people, and the city of Jackson has 2.
In addition, the State has brought in 14 people from FL, GA, and LA to help supplement operations.

My water pressure is better tonight than it has been in years. Thank God the Governor stepped in and took over OB Curtis when he did.

MEMA doesn't water down their reports, unlike Chowke.

When is Tate gonna begin fighting back in the news media… current prevailing narrative portrays state government at fault.

"Once they find the key to the intake house maybe they could find a few guys hanging around Home Depot that could fix the hole in the roof."

After further review, a key is not required when a ladder to the roof and entry through the gaping hole in the roof will suffice just fine.

Wouldn't it be something if they find the hole in the roof of the intake building was a major root cause of their problems. Then Chowke can point a finger at Sigman and the PRVWSD for not letting him know about it. I guarantee you this, they wouldn't let any other roof on PRVWSD property look like that.

@10:58
What purpose does that serve? I think Tate is smart enough to take the hit on this. The white leadership can’t be seen as a great white saviors. That narrative will never be allowed. They have to painted as fixing the problem they created. Anything else will feed racist stereotypes. Why are you so obsessed with blaming and shaming the African-Americans?

Anonymous said...

Politically Tate is handling like a master. Focusing on fixing the current crisis. There will be time later to assign fault.

Anonymous said...

To 10:58-----Tate isn't going to fight back because the state has known about the problem for over twenty years and never allocated the money to fix it. As dumb as the Mayor is, this is not entirely his fault.

10:58 pm highlights obviously flawed national reporting, as if Donna Ladd is writing press releases for them to ape.

Yet Governor avoids internecine strife whilst responsibly sorting the water issues. A careful response can be crafted after results of his successful leadership are obvious.

City water is a city responsibility all over USA. In Jackson, several mayors in a row, especially this one, have abdicated their responsibility for staffing, maintenance, billing and planning. That is why State, MEMA, FEMA, Natl Guard, EPA had to push the incompetent mayor aside and do his job.

The mayor just appeared on George Stephanopoulus and remarked that flood water inundated the treatment plant. Hasn’t that lie been exposed?

Anonymous said...

@9:53
Do you think George reads Jackson Jambalaya? Because it wasn’t reported anywhere else.

It’s deliciously ironic. Kingfish is tasting the gaslighting first hand, on the receiving end. Yet he will continue to censor any criticism that names the perpetrators. Loyalty to the game and preserving your ability to continue to “work” in the field dominated by spinsteins, is more important than the truth.

Lil Choke lies directly and by omission. For example, at start of current water crisis, he claimed to drink tap water at home. Probably a locally delivered 10 gallon jug of well water upside down on a gravity 'tap', not Jackson Choke-water outta his faucet.

7:12 AM,

What portion of the "fault" should be assigned to the current mayor, what portion to the past several mayors, and what portions to the state and/or the feds? City infrastructure and security are 2 of the primary concerns of *any* mayor, including the incumbent. Appropriate, timely, and cooperative leveraging of state and federal resources is part and parcel of that. Something from my childhood comes to mind about "kitchens and heat"...

When this is all over with heads will roll. After all, the person in charge is Lumba. Whether he inherited this mess or not he had ample time to show any effort to remedy the problem and he never did. He just made it worse by gambling with the health of peoples lives hoping the state and feds would come running. Well they did and it won’t stop at the water. It will go onto the sewer and possibly the waste pickup along with the airport. It may take some time but it’s coming and his Wikipedia story will be a joke. I had heard that people outside of Jackson were getting water. If I’m right, people waited in line for hours to get 12 bottles of water and spent $15.00 on gas. Makes a lot of sense. Get the free stuff. I’ll go buy mine and not look back. Someone’s head will be rolling after this and Tate is keeping it very tight lipped right now.

No heads will roll...Lumumba has his constituency completely fooled because of his race and his ability as a smooth talker. The majority of them think that he bears no responsibility for this fiasco, as clearly evidenced by the comments on social media.

I always thought Bill Clinton was the best politician I ever saw, in the way he could lie so earnestly and convincingly. Obama took that and stepped it up a notch or three. Lumumba isn't quite in that league yet but he's young, give him time. I think the one thing that may hinder his future in the profession is the fact that there are more disastrophes already in the pipeline (see what I did there), as the sewer problem will be another major challenge, and of course the crime problems will continue to drain the city of any sort of productive citizens other than those that can afford bodyguards. He would make a hell of a used car salesman though.

KF thank you for posting this. I am grateful for the plan and it being shared.

It does point to areas of concern ( like the Reservoir) that is not in the immediate control and authority of the city or immediate control and authority of the State.

Why some of you persist in a mayor vs governor pissing contest is frankly beyond me and not helpful.

Indeed, I'm certain it's as discouraging to those doing the work as it is to me!You are convincing them only that their hard work will, in time ,be in vain. Because we are too selectively ignorant or contrary to make sure their work doesn't start to fail in the hands of inefficient, incompetent corrupt politicians we choose to put in office.
That suddenly some of you see Stokes as having found a miraculous enlightenment and ethical understanding of government simply by appearing on conservative radio is stunning to me. I think the only way he sees to get the votes he needs with the "changes of the hierarchy" is enticing those who are better educated. Successful educated AA and even the crooks are tired of him.
You can't rely on people whose personal agendas biased them to putting your personal interest in their lists of priorities if doing a good job for you isn't in that list or working hard and efficiently !

Listening Haven't heard him say that yet. The host said floodwaters overwhelmed the system, which it did, in a way, at the intake part.

@7:12 - no, the state has not allocated funds to fis it. Just as they have not allocated funds for any other municipal water or sewer system in the state. The money to 'fix' this lay in the bills that were not collected from the citizens of Jackson who were allowed to go for years without paying for their water. Or their sewer treatment. Or their garbage collection.

If the city had made people pay their bills - as EVERY OTHER UTILITY in the state and the country does - the city would have had money to run this system properly. Granted, they might not have spent the money to do so - just as they didn't spend any of the millions they received from the Siemens settlement.

And if you would check the history, you would find that the State Department of Health approved a several million dollar SRF loan (1% +/-, long term) several years ago that was to be used just for the repairs and maintenance that this report indicates was not being done. BUT the City of Jackson never drew down any money from that loan (provided by the state that you condemn); instead, they let the system rot.

Now that the system totally failed, the state - acting through the Governor - had no choice but to take over the operation of the system. As he has noted, the state is not normally in the business of operating municipal water systems; only when it has become a disaster situation due to the absolute failure of the city to do its job does the state have the legal authority to do as is currently being done.

And isn't it nice to finally get real, honest reports of the conditions at the water treatment plant? Something absolutely new to the folks who depend of this facility - Chockwe has not mentioned any of these long term failures in his "transparancy talks" when he gets in front of a camera. Nothing about the testing process that is in the building on the reservoir not being operative; or the slude disposal not operating; or the valves that are corroded resulting in leaving chemicals ----- on, and on, and on.

Not surprising, but learning how badly this facility has been left to rot kinda reminds one of the Northside Library, or the Eudora Library, or the Richard White Library, or the Willie Morris Library. Or, while we are on the failures - we could again mention the zoo!

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
