EPA to sue city.
The city of Jackson issued the following statement.
“We believe that it is imperative that we enter into agreements with a team that is solely and sincerely focused on an objective of ensuring safe and reliable drinking water to the residents of Jackson,” said Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba. “We believe this arrangement represents the best path forward.”
Mayor Lumumba expressed his appreciation to both agencies in their shared goal to provide quality drinking water to City of Jackson water customers. “We believe that having this agreement in place is better for everyone,” he said.
The City of Jackson will provide more details as developments occur.

Thanks for all you do for Jackson, Mayor

Isnt that technically what the voters did when they elected this jackass to be the mayor??
You know you have really screwed up when the Administrator of the EPA shows up in your city.
Watch Shock-Way use this as a photo-op
"The plan, the plan..."

Translation="I f*ed up our drinking water and didn't have the fortitude to get things correct or even try, so the government is here to bail me out, but I want you people to think I did something great by enlisting their help."
So the EPA and the feds are going to make the city maintain the plant and hire the right people and charge customers for water? Or are they teaming up to shake down the state govt?
THAT'S A LOT OF PASTORS
Wonder when or if the EPA and DEQ will nail his ass to the cross for the 52 million gallons of raw sewage the city with soul released in to the Pearl River?
Lil Choke: "I've watched this catastrophe unfold, from a safe distance of course, for five and a half years, often crawling on my belly for funding, untainted by State or Federal controls, just plain old cash to me for me to spend as I deem prudent, for justice, equity and my poor dependent, oppressed, downtrodden victims. I do not need an oversight baby sitter!"
Nothing more than attempt to kick out state officials from the plant. That why Bennie is giving money directly to Jackson and not the state. Nothing more than politics at election time.
First of all why are 12 pastors needed to discuss drinking water. I think their time would be better served helping the youth of the city not kill each other. Second I saw a picture of the meeting on wlbt. Why is everyone wearing a mask. This is total and complete nonsense. At this poing Covid is like having a bad cold. This alone tells you the average IQ for attendees for the meeting is extremely low. But i digress.
Better submit a FIA for copy of the EPA IG report before its lost!
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the city has entered into numerous agreements (aka consent decrees) then made no meaningful effort to comply.
The mayor doesn’t give a shit about fines. That’s just one more bill the city can’t/won’t pay, and if it did, well that’s the taxpayer’s problem, not his.
The only thing that might create more effort is if the mayor faced criminal charges for failure to comply. That might light a fire under his ass. Then we’d finally find out whether he’s really dumb, or just lazy. Until then, he’ll be jetting around the country for speaking engagements while everyone else worries about trivial issues like water, sewage, and crime in Jackson.
Nah, Chokwe isn't in trouble. His cronies are about to get PAID. The EPA and FedGov are going to "help remedy this longstanding injustice."

Why is DOJ invovled?
Is there "environmental racism" involved here?
(THat's kinda Regan's main focus in his career, in case you didn't know.)
Read between the lines. This is a preemptive strike to deal with the Feds instead of having to deal with the state. Mayor and Uncle Bennie will play the roles of hero.
WLBT reports that EPA is prepared to file suit against the city for violations of the Clean Water Safety Act. EPA wants a plan from the city for repairing the water system & a time line for implementing fixes. Sound familiar?
https://www.wlbt.com/2022/09/26/dept-justice-says-water-not-safe-prepared-file-action-against-jackson-under-safe-drinking-water-act/
This WAPT presser is making me sick. If private sector is held accountable such as Beatrice Potter in Columbus was & a rendering plant in south MS was, then absolutely so should the mayor. If is ironic that now he wants responsibility to run the water system once the Feds hand over more $$.Remember when the schools asked for more money but test scores still dropped. You are & have been getting a salary Chokwe but you have a dereliction of duties!
Unless the EPA/USA Atty plan on arresting Chockwe for violating the safe water drinking act, then i'm not interested.
I'm delighted!
It's not exactly a surprise to me that a human prefers to work with who are well educated and polite and committed to solve the problem.
Nor is it a surprise no human would want to work with people who demand property and control in exchange for cooperation and who have been personally insulting.
Worse, these same people are sleazy politicians pretending the other party's politician is more sleazy.
Tater buddy get TANF money for a "boot camp" for poor children? Can't he read the damn bill? That Southern gets millions is less shocking in that , Bryant and Favre are alums. Still sleazy but hey, you party hacks drink the poison Kool-Aid.
Honk honk.

They won’t. It’s (D)ifferent in this case
“We believe that having this agreement in place is better for everyone,” he said.
Agreement??? Hahahahaha!!
They didn't come down here to form an damn "AGREEMENT" with anybody! Funny how he'd try to spin the Wrath-of-God as an agreement..??
Hahahahaha!!!
I hope the mayor didn’t have to postpone any luxurious out of state (or country) conventions.
Just imagine how bad Tater Tot and the MAGA/MSGOP would’ve let things get if Mayor Lumumba had not brought this crisis that he inherited to the attention of the Nation and President Biden?
Any realtors out there? Have any houses in Jackson actually sold and closed in the last few months?
This is another win for Lumumba. You may not like his methods, but it is a win. Not really looking good for Tate and Kingfish. Word around City Hall is that Rukia and Dr. Omari are petitioning the NAACP and SPLC, to designate this a hate blog. JJ need to do a little housekeeping on some old posts and comments.
Methinks the lead in the water prob a contributing factor to the uptick in crime and lag in public student achievement. Chok has allowed the children of this city to consume unsafe water with dire medical and physical consequences to their developing brains. So he didn’t steal TANF money, but he has stolen the potential of a generation of Jacksonian. Sad and shameful.
EPA should:
First , sue Ckowkeway for dereliction of duties on water sysytem
second, go after Chowkeway for covering up the EPA issues at OBC and Savanna St and finally, go deal with Savanna ST WWTP and all other "un" sanitary sewer issues in Jackson that could simply be handled by doing the job Chowkeway and the others are paid to do- There is a SS manhole in the intersection of High and State Street that over flows every time there is a rain... this is on top of a hill, people..just think what is going on/over flowing at the lower elevations of manholes throughout the city..and it all goes into the Pearl River as raw sewerage and no one is held accountable.
KF, I know how you seem to like references to old movies. . .
Dr. Strangelove declares: "I have a plan. . . "

Starting at around 00:38 through 00:49.
My father and I used to come to an "agreement" when I was younger... in the woodshed with his belt.
That's sick if Rukia and Omari are really petitioning for this to be considered a hate blog.
That may end up backfiring as it draws attention to a lot of the investigative work broken here and more in depth questions are answered of the City Administration.
Sad to see the use of racism and hate, which really do exist, as a tactic to quiet perspectives more rooted on data and facts.
Some of the mayor's bootlickers need to explain how the Justice Department riding shotgun with the EPA is a win for the mayor.
Of course the NAACP would. This website is the one that broke the news of this thievery while he was at One Voice. Thievery and embezzlement. Trips to Paris and Spain. Loading up at the Penguin and Char. I bet he wants this website buried. Not to mention the illegal no-bid contracts he got from groups such as Hinds County Board of Supervisors.
If I were Tater, I'd pull all remaining state resources that are working at O.B. Curtis and tell Chokwad that he can depend on the feds from here on out to hold the city's hand in getting the water situation under control.
@2:56
Because it is Joe Biden’s DoJ and EPA. Those alphabets aren’t here for Antar, they’re are here to identify a socially unjust reason for this crisis. Basically, they are looking for a political weapon. Remember, Bennie Thompson is in charge of Homeland Security. Also, Kamala Harris is the Vice President of the United States. Mayor Lumumba is in excellent company!
Adding to 1:21's comments about reading between the lines, the State and Tater just got "federally preempted". That is a wonderful thing, as now the Feds "own" ALL of Jackson's plethora of problems.
DOJ, Local Pastors, NAACP, ACLU...I'm confused as to why any of that crowd is needed to resolve the problem promulgated by the mayor.
"I'm glad all of you people have come around to the reality of systemic racism and none of you sees the incompetence of the man addressing you at this podium."
Don't fool yourself for a Washington minute that Justice and EPA are here to right a sunken vessel. They're here at the direction of 'The Regime' to paint this state as racist and a state that bogs down progress of black folk who are trying so desperately to snatch themselves up out of poverty and ongoing slavery.
Chalk up another one for Chokwe and do an appropriate fist bump out at the cemetery for his dad.
How about some technical assistance for Jackson's Water Sewer Business Administration, along with an audit confirming the millions of dollars in lost revenue?
Colossal failure leftist Democrats are perfect people, never do any harm, always have excuses and are protected by their whitey democrat propagandists posing as journalists. But, like true American hero and one of the original civil rights activists Robert L. “Bob” Woodson said:
“Now after 50 years of liberal Democrats running the inner cities where we have all of these inequities that we have, RACE IS BEING USED AS A RUSE, AS A MEANS OF DEFLECTING ATTENTION AWAY from critical questions such as why are poor blacks failing in systems run by their own people, if race was an issue.”
The irony doesn't escape anyone that most of the commenters are first (second generation at best) Republicans.
"Imperative that someone else do my job while disguising my ineptitude."
I'll just leave this right here;

1:52 PM Thanks for the chuckle.
September 26, 2022 at 3:11 PM, checkout September 26, 2022 at 6:50 PM, and tell us again how good it will be for the mayor.
When the NAACP and the SPLC (and the ADL, mustn't forget the ADL) inform you that the web site you look at is hateful and racist, you know you're pointed in the right direction.
Tuesday, the city council approved paying Waggoner Engineering and AJA Consultants $1.7 million for program management services “rendered and invoiced” through July 2022. As posted on WLBT shows another good reason why the Mayor is incapable of running the COJ. He can push to pay Richard’s and yet no pay Waggoner Engineering doing work under a LEGAL contract.
So the State was not invited to this meeting? They are one of the most vested interests in what the plan is. Just a Democrat meeting?
