Politico reports Congressman Bennie Thompson is trying to send $200 million directly to Jackson, bypassing state government:
House appropriators are considering sending as much as $200 million to address the drinking water crisis in Jackson, Miss., as part of the stop-gap spending measure to fund the government past Sept. 30. Documents obtained by POLITICO show draft language that would deliver the money directly from EPA to the city, bypassing the Republican-controlled state government. Democrats, including Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), have accused the state of withholding resources from the majority Black state capital. Thompson told POLITICO he is pushing for $200 million in emergency funds for a first phase to address the dilapidated water infrastructure in Jackson.... Article.
The question will be how much control will Mayor Lumumba have over the funds if they are appropriated. Stay tuned.

It's an interesting money laundering triangle. Benny send Chokwe $200 million. Benny then retires and endorses Chokwe for his seat in congress. Chokwe ascends the seat and pays Benny back with an even more brazen level of kickbacks.
I left out all the little players who get one or two million apiece. But that's the basic idea.
It is genuinely sad to see how politics influences what (should be) basic decisions. American Citizens pay BOTH taxes, AND water bills with the ultimate purpose of having clean water. The idea of having to supersede ANYONE who is trying to stick their hand in the cookie jar is absolute lunacy. Is it even possible to simply fix these folk's water system and vote out any one of these jackals who are stealing or attempting to steal OUR MONEY, OR are using this for the purposes of political grand standing? I am so sick of this shit.
So does this mean Lumumba finally showed Bennie THE PLAN?
And palms are going to be extra greasy?
I expect nothing less.
We are doomed and anyone that speaks up is racist.
Enjoy the death spiral.
The sane people have given up and you Jackson cheerleaders keep your mouth shut about the burbs saving yall after Socrates and Grizzell spend this money.
Seems they learned their lesson from the welfare money scandal. Good idea bypassing all those criminals.
Bennie & Mayor Lumumba +10 points
Kingfish & Tater Tot -20 points
Y’all ain’t never going to win this way!
10% for the big guy.
Translation: $100 million to Jackson, with the balance to be distributed to/by Chowke and Bennie.
Didn't Bennie get snubbed by Chokwe? As crazy as it sounds I think i'd prefer Bennie to have the power with this money more than Chok.
And to help Chicago, they are getting Ms O’Leary another lantern.
Mo’ Money, Mo’ Money, Mo’ Money!
(But it ain’t yo money)
I am sure all parties would agree to have EPA direct the funding directly to the city thus relieving the state from getting into the “drinking water business”. With EPA IG currently investigating the City of Jackson management of the system, EPA should gain insight of the need for improvement.
Is it even legal to bypass state government and fund one of the it's municipalities?
This is a bad idea.
Mo money, Mo money…
COURSE HE IS~ that POS has no fair integrity in his POS veins.
9:42 - You mean exactly as the feds did through the American Rescue Plan Act?
"Is it even legal to bypass state government and fund one of the it's municipalities?
September 22, 2022 at 9:42 AM"
Yes.
If the Feds don’t take control & remove all power from COJ and Choke then don’t expect all of us to donate anymore! This is shameful to take tax $$ that people have struggled to put food on the table & gas in vehicles to go to work from them ; giving to people who CHOOSE to skate around laws such as the EPA have cited COJ with numerous times! Know that all of us have a vote in November & we will come in large crowds to make our voices heard! Good luck COJ if you vote Choke back into office if he is not indicted first!
Don't worry about it. It will be handled in the Senate. Someone will attach an ammendment to give the state control of the money. Tate will ensure that happens.
Don't worry. They all took the Bill Gates de-pop shots.
This money just like and no different than HUD CDBG monies are ultimately for the Local units of government. Bennies way will by pass the State M D A and carve off all that “a d m I n “ money for their City of Jack buds. It’s about the Admin fees. They will go to some socially disadvantaged firm or person.
That’s one way to build a resilient, smart city.
Straight up a money laundering scheme. And Drake Jr. is teaching all of the woke leaders at these conferences how to do it. Brillant. I suspected this was the play all along. And if you call a spade a spade, you're racist. They've been working this angle all along.
As it should be
This blog and the readers should be delighted
You can then follow every dime and bitch and moan for a decade
The full bitch act
Bennie G Thompson has cut the deal for Derrick Johnson and One Voice can get the contract and Bennie, Rukia and Danyelle can receive the money, for their none profits. All Antar want is 25% for his people, then they can say Brett & Phil stole some too, so it's ok to steal.
Sounds like Hunter Biden all over SOS
September 22, 2022 at 10:21 AM, I think you are giving mayor drake too much credit, but you maybe correct. They could have taught him that at the Harvard.
He didn't learn anything about management there. After all, it is about sticking it to the man.
9:18 and the other conspiracy nuts:
Apparently, you haven't been disturbed by the elected officials in this State and a former football player siphoning Federal funds to help themselves. For that siphoning, there's actuall physcial evidence like a volley ball building at Southern Mississippi and Brett returning a million bucks less interest for speeches he never made.
Given the evidence of State misappropriation of federal funds, it's more than a little unimagintive that you think it unjustified and bizarre that you come up with crimes NOT in evidence and possibly slanderous statements you can't prove. But, then you are anonymous but you do know you can be tracked, right?
State legislature should create a regional water district January. Take CoJ out of the water and wastewater business. CoJ is on course to get out of law enforcement already, abdicating the responsibility to the State.
As someone who has worked extensively with both federal and state grant programs, EPA grants/allocations are normally administered by the State agency that most closely resembles the function of EPA, which in this case would be MDEQ. I have worked with municipalities in the past that have received EPA funds and the municipalities have always dealt directly with MDEQ.
Hope there is money for 100 Auditors to come down and review each expenditure. Typical and not un-expected. Lets give the circus and the clowns more money to waste. They have done such a good job so far. Just boggles the mind.
Just My Thoughts
Let the Federal government shut down!!!!!!
I'm tired of paying federal taxes to these Bums!
No matter how corrupt you think Bennie Thompson is, there is no way he's taking any risk of putting $200 million directly into Antard's hands with no attached strings and extreme levels of direct oversight.
Ain't happening folks.
Thompson will not stake his political reputation on a proven amateur blowhard like Lumumba because he fully understands million$ won't suddenly make the Emperor competent.
@11:00 please state your name as well. I am the poster at 10:21 and I hope that Farve, New, Bryant and the rest of the clan are found guilty, taken down, and have to pay restitution and penalties. But nice of you to ASSume you know what I think. I guess you have the proverbial Office Space Jump- To Conclusions Mat.
While we are ASSuming, are you some no name attorney that hangs onto Chokewe's every breath? If you think what I said is slanderous, come get me. I'll wait. Nothing I said was slanderous, so if you are in the legal community, I suggest you quit.
I work in government contracts administration!
This is perfect for me and just in time for GM to release the Hummer EV!
Sign me up for the purple holographic paint job and 32” chrome spinners!
I'd prefer that the Army Corps of Engineers handled things. That way you can account for every penny spent. This is the second best option. Tate has already admitted that he wants nothing further to do with the city.
If you want the city to succeed the mayor needs the same resources that were available to Tate when the state offered assistance. Now that the cameras are off its back to business as usual. All of the experts available to Tate on speed dial will disappear.
I'm betting that this will occur again in the near future, and the funds will go to other city projects. Back to square one.
The state cannot be trusted with federal funds. They might end up in a volleyball gym, or the pockets of famous ex athletes. Benny is correct to keep the temptation away from the thieves.
Water systems do not need grant money for they are money makers. Cities are part of the State government system and are governed by State laws. This is a huge con game.
10:04 You are fooling yourself if you think Tate has enough political favor in the senate to work that out.
[Latest] Emmerich:
Chokwe Antar Lumumba was the youngest Jackson mayor ever at age 34. We were all hoping for a bright young energetic mayor. Instead we got gross inexperience. Making matters worse, Lumumba refused to work collaboratively with the city council. It was his way or the highway.
As a result, Lumumba shoulders the blame for what will go down as the worst self-inflicted injury in the history of Jackson. When you lead in a dictatorial fashion, you can’t blame the problems on other people.
Read it all.
$200 MIL?!?!? With no state oversight on how it's spent?!?!? Da club gone be HOPPIN, y'all!!!!
If you want the city to succeed the mayor needs the same resources that were available to Tate when the state offered assistance.
So you are saying Lumumba isn't incompetent but just couldn't find ~$1.4m in funding and the requisite managerial gumption to stop OBC from crashing without state intervention.
Laughable.
12:11 PM Best comment! Drop the mic and go to the house!
Attention all citizens of Jackson.
MORE FREE WATER. 200 million dollars' worth!
More Free Money! Class action suit payment!
The mayor is going to come out of this smelling like a Rose. Right.
Right!
This is why the smart people stick by Mayor Lumumba’s side. Y’all green teeth hillbillies can stay in your trailer parks and write your racist screeds.
Meanwhile the City With Soul will take care of are own.
Got to go. My limo is heading to the Gulfstream.
Raise your hand if you think the water system will get fixed and be run appropriately as a free standing utility.
Don't feed the troll @ 12:45
He might break his brown teeth.
Do nothing Bennie, the new Big Guy.
Let's say this happens. Just because there isn't State oversight doesn't mean it will be a slush fund. I assume the fed will attach one or two strings to it and I imagine they'll be under some degree of pressure to make sure it gets used for its intended purpose.
" I assume the fed will attach one or two strings to it and I imagine they'll be under some degree of pressure to make sure it gets used for its intended purpose."
"Bennie Thompson is trying to send $200 million directly to Jackson, bypassing state government". It will definitely get to right persons, not the city.
Still no backwater pumps though.
My son was flunking out of college so I told him, "You will marry the girl I choose."
He said, "No."
I told him, "She is Bill Gates's daughter."
He said, "Yes."
I called Bill Gates and said, "I want your daughter to marry my son."
Bill Gates said, "No."
I told Bill Gates, "My son is the CEO of the World Bank."
Bill Gates said, "Yes."
I called the president of the World Bank and asked him to make my son the CEO.
He said, "No."
I told him, "My son is Bill Gates' son-in-law."
He said, "Yes."
And that's exactly how politics works. Thus, began the practice of hiring morons to work in influential positions of government. This practice remains unbroken to this day.
Hint to Tate…let COJ have the FED funds. Immediately distance yourself from all things COJ-water-related. Document, publicize, notarize the State’s responsibilities (none) from this day forward. “We are not in the water business.” When things go bad down the road, pull out the disclaimers, and give everyone the EPAs number to all.
Jackson needs the money, and there will be strict accountability by the feds. This will be a blessing.
" As crazy as it sounds I think i'd prefer Bennie to have the power
with this money more than Chok."
Agreed 9:32.
But in the big picture, I'd rather see Stokes
in charge of the money than Bennie.
$200 million could pay for a lot of trips to Miami, Banff, NYC, and even Paris, all via first class or chartered jet, right?
Who was Politico's source, Omari?
At least the volleyball arena was built.
And it looks . . . spectacular!
4:42 well said.
And 4:45 is what needs to happen. We may as well accept this.
People like 11:47 seem to think ALL political theft is ok so long as BOTH sides get to partake. I don't understand that at all but the national media agrees.
Just document how the funds are spent and hope the people in power when the next utility crashes wont be as focused on equal opportunities for thieves on the Democrat side since some Conservatives are currently guilty.
Its like minorities in Jackson WANT to have potholes, crime and no water.
So CYA Tate and move along.
Maybe Uncle Bennie will swing the $200 mill so that mayor drake can take care of Richard's.
The council attorney seems to think there's no legal way to put the garbage contract on a referendum. I'm sure mayor drake has competent legal representation, right?
Either way, it seems the marxist mayor is determined to sidestep the council, and operate the city as a dictatorial administration.
I would be really interested to know how much has been spent in needless attorney fees, for both the mayor's office and the council.
"If federal subsidies generated wealth, Mississippi would be the richest state in the Union."
Mississippi Center for Public Policy
The Mayor can't do nothing worst then what the state of Mississippi has already done. It's corrupt from the top to the bottom. With the ones in between having to pick up the pieces every-time. So I say one can't talk about the other because corruption doesn't have a name when it comes to politics. Regardless of what they give Jackson there is always other places in Mississippi getting money that no one seems to know nothing about. There are some who sit around and know this is taking place and say nothing, you are just as guilty but bash anything that goes to Jackson. As you can see everyone living in the burbs with so called successful careers and abundant finances didn't get there legally. Some of them can't even look in the mirror without seeing a worthless person.
