30 Years for M Bar Killer

Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens issued the following statement.

(Jackson, MS) On September 15, 2022, Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens, II, announced that 24-year-old Javarius Dajion Stewart pled guilty to multiple felony counts occurring from an incident that took place at 6340 Ridgewood Court Drive in July of 2020, he also entered a guilty plea for assault he committed on a Clinton police officer.

Stewart plead to second degree murder of Mantrell Cortez Shelby. In addition, he plead to four counts of aggravated assault for the shooting of four individuals while in the same location. Stewart also entered pleas for crimes committed in Clinton prior to the murder of Shelby for aggravated assault of a Law Enforcement Officer and possession of stolen property.

Hinds County Circuit Judge E. Faye Peterson sentenced Stewart to 40 years with 30 to serve for the murder of Shelby, and he was sentenced to 15 years to serve on each count of aggravated assault. Judge Peterson sentenced him to 10 years for attempting to run over a Clinton police officer. The time will run concurrently. District Attorney Jody Owens said, “Stewart will be held accountable for his cowardly actions behind bars for the next 40 years as the Shelby family continues to grieve the absence of their loved one.”

Kingfish note: JJ reported on July 4, 2020:

On July 4, 2020 at approx. 0107 hours, Hinds County Deputies investigated a shooting that occurred at the M-Bar Club, 6340 Ridgewood Ct. During the preliminary investigation, it was learned that several victims had been shot following an altercation that occurred inside of the club. One of the victims, later identified as Cortez Shelby-41, sustained a single gunshot wound to the neck and was pronounced deceased on scene. Three other victims, a female and two males were also shot and transported to UMMC for medical treatment. Their injuries are not life threatening.... Earlier post.
Unfortunately, Stewart was out on bond when he killed Shelby:

A Hinds County grand jury indicted Stewart in December for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.   He rammed a Clinton police car and then rammed a civilian vehicle during a pursuit.  He was also indicted for receiving stolen property and felony fleeing.  The Judge (unknown) released him on his own recognizance.
Stewart will serve day for day on this sentence.

And it took over 2 years to prepare this case. It seemed pretty cut and dried to me, but of course, I don’t get paid by the hour like public defenders or private lawyers do.

The release of low-life violent accused felons on their OR is happening in the majority of the larger BLUE cities, with similar results. The common denominator is SOROS is funding the campaigns of the DAs in most of those cities.

Wake up America!

Shut M Bar down

@6:36
Dear moron. Hinds county has a public defenders office paid a salary, not hourly. Just like the DAs office. Keep typing brilliant

What makes it even worse, Cortez "Man Man" Shelby wasn't even the intended target. He was an Office Assistant with the Division of Medicaid. The people in the agency took his death really hard. He was a good person. Just went out to have a beverage after work. Glad his killer was brought to justice.

Jody Owens is underrated. He actually goes after criminals. Soros made a poor investment and I couldn’t be happier about it

Why is this murderer going to be able to get out and terrorize again when he took a life?

under the prior DA this person would have walked out the door..

This is a very sad story.

I was actually reading this post as I was watching the interview on WLBT tonight with the MBar owner who discussed the water crisis and how it has affected his business. He was wearing a shirt with the “A3 consultant” logo….. curious if his A3 consultant firm has been hired to help the City of Jackson in anyway?

Everyone who pops off about how it “took two years” hasn’t been paying attention. Owens inherited an office that, under the prior administration, was prosecuting cases literally from 5-6 years prior. I was sitting in court in 2018, waiting for a recess to get a dismissal signed for a civil matter, and realized i was watching 2013 case.

The fact that he has moved so many cases through, clearing a huge back log, id huge for jackson. I am impressed to see two year old cases. I pray he sticks around for another term and we’ll see same year cases and no back log.

6:36, I believe you have to wait your turn. THATS ONE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH OUR SYSTEM. We're re trying these guys over and over. The liberal judges are literally killing us.

30 years is a light sentence for all those crimes. Justice requires Life in prison.

.."It's the dismal tide.."

Total of 65 years is 65 years. Total running concurrent (30 years) is BS.

The judges allow way too many delays, too. I can understand why an obviously guilty defendant would rather stay in Raymond than go to Parchman but the judges shouldn’t let them purposefully drag things out.

10:38, I’ve made similar comments about Jody Owen’s performance in the past, but a lot of us lost trust in him when he prosecuted Officer Anthony Fox and got him convicted. That anti-police mindset is exactly what Soros wants and it’s the LAST thing Jackson needs. The remaining officers have it hard enough without having to worry if they’ll be criminally prosecuted for trying to do their job. I’m amazed anyone would put their own life on the line for such low pay and poor support but many feel called to serve. God bless them.

Are all of these apologists also employees at the Jackson water plants?

Jody Owens is a good lawyer dealing with a broken criminal justice system. We are fortunate to have him.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
