I hold a single engine land private pilot rating and was in the Copper Ridge neighborhood this evening just before 7, it's near the traffic pattern to the Madison airport and small aircraft fly over routinely. I think this was the same aircraft I heard and looked up to see while it was climbing out on the crosswind leg of the pattern. Appeared to be making a lot of noise and not moving very fast, almost like a power on stall. Glad the outcome of the emergency landing was without incident.
Amen!
Way to call it out Maverick.
How'd they get it out of there?
They didn't need the FAA's "permission" to move the plane. This wasn't a crime scene nor was it an accident/crash. It was a controlled off-airport landing without any property damage or injuries. These events happen daily across the U.S.
BZ to the pilot.
Glad the pilot was okay, and that nobody on the ground got hurt.
This plane has a sketchy ownership record on Flight Aware.
@8:55 AM using Flightaware for aircraft registration information is like using Mad magazine. The definitive and only legal database is the FAA's aircraft registry. https://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/
"How'd they get it out of there?" Flown out, taxied to the airport, etc?
Luckily it is a 150. You can glide them forever.
It was towed to the airport by a tractor/tug using a long tow bar.
Did Madison fine the pilot for not parking it in a closed garage?
Those of you with lengthy memories, like this elderly little polybear, may remember the time a Comercial jet (Maybe DC 9?) landed at the Madison Airport by accident. If my memory is correct, they bussed the passengers over to Jackson Intergalitic and had the pilot take off from Madison Field in an empty jet, for what I assume was the last flight of his career - over to the actual runway he was shooting for when he wound up landing in Madison.
Truth.
As someone who had to do something like this myself a couple decades ago, I can say congrats to the pilot for no damage to property or injuries to anyone. It's a testament to his training and cool-headed decision making under pressure, with a little luck thrown in for good measure.
Mary probably has an ordinance against that

I remember.
It was more like a 727.
But it never landed.
I was living off Rice Road when that happened.
Many of us thought there was about to be a crash.
The plane came very close to attempting to land at Bruce Campbell Field, but the Captain realized the error and aborted the landing.
(The exact same error happened again with another flight not long after).
I have both Clarion Ledger articles saved on newspapers.com.
But that site is not working for me tonight.
Please Note: This is first time ever that there's been a story about Madison, The City (That's not for sale) without a photo shoot of Mayor Mary, gleaming, in the middle of a crowd of her subjects.
History will thank you for saving this information.
