The Madison Police Department issued the following statement.
During the late afternoon of 6/10/2020 the injured driver involved the traffic crash at U.S. Highway 51 and Hoy Road succumbed to her injuries at the University of MS Medical Center. She has been identified as Betty Simmons Ross, age 58, of Jackson, MS.
The driver of the second vehicle, Harrison N. Little, age 29, of Dallas, TX appeared in Madison Municipal Court on 6/11/2020 for his initial court appearance for his arrest on Wednesday for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence Causing Death and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injuries. Bond was set for Mr. Little at $500,000. Mr. Little continues to be housed at the Madison County Detention Center.
The men and women of the Madison Police Department extend their condolences as well as their thoughts and prayers to the family, friends and co-workers of Ms. Ross.

Well, he made sure that non-adjudication was taken off the table. Scum bag deserves all he can get. Wonder if he is truly a Dallas citizen or here without changing addresses. $50,000 for his Surety Bond, unless ordered as cash.
(5) Aggravated DUI.
(a) Every person who operates any motor vehicle in violation of the provisions of subsection (1) of this section and who in a negligent manner causes the death of another or mutilates, disfigures, permanently disables or destroys the tongue, eye, lip, nose or any other limb, organ or member of another shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a separate felony for each victim who suffers death, mutilation, disfigurement or other injury and shall be committed to the custody of the State Department of Corrections for a period of time of not less than five (5) years and not to exceed twenty-five (25) years for each death, mutilation, disfigurement or other injury, and the imprisonment for the second or each subsequent conviction, in the discretion of the court, shall commence either at the termination of the imprisonment for the preceding conviction or run concurrently with the preceding conviction. Any person charged with causing the death of another as described in this subsection shall be required to post bail before being released after arrest.
