Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Thank you for posting this on a daily basis. Won't ever go away so I guess we will see this for quite awhile. Will always be folks getting infected, sick and dying. Should start a death count for some of the other malady's we encounter but have forgotten about. Reminds me of the death counts shown on TV during the Vietnam War. Good for causing anxiety, panic and creating chaos. Keep up the good work.
I’d like to know the hospitalization and death statistics for the regular flu for this year. How do they compare?
2:11
I understand what you are saying, but a lot of people like you are starting to sound like you want to forget this is a threat. Yes, the media had it up 24/7 and created a lot of fear. Also, it's an actual threat. I know it's uncomfortable but it's what life is right now. Sorry.
Yeah, how come no Flu stats and the deaths?
Yes, numbers will increase while we open. We have ways to protect ourselves (masks and social distancing) that we can take advantage of that our leaders are scared to promote because of backlash from people who don't believe in science. Yes it sucks that businesses will close and people will lose jobs. it is what it is. Just try to stay safe.
Another thing, its kind of amazing to me how this site was a place where people would complain about snowflakes and safe spaces, and can't take a little truth about the 3rd leading cause of death in the US. Lol.
Thanks for the update. The Mississippi stats could not be presented in a more cumbersome and less understood fashion by the health department.
On the other hand, the Clarion Ledger article today (sports page) carried an outstanding COVID story of great practical use to everyone.
How many happy, healthy, asymptomatic young men (18-22 years old) in Mississippi are walking around with COVID puffing out of their airways? These days it appears to be about 4%. That's correct. Four of the 100 or so athletes on the MSU football team (asymtpomatic) are screen positive for the virus.
Extrapolating that to the broader population, it means that (today) 1 out of every 25 young healthy asymptomatic men in Mississippi is exhaling the virus. Enjoy the bar scene!
Inaccurate headline. Four (4) of the reported deaths happened in late May and early June.
4 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths between May 25 and June 4 were identified from death certificate reports. The additional deaths were reported in the following counties:
Bolivar 1
Chickasaw 1
Jones 1
Leflore 1
In a bad year, flu kills 40,000. It takes its toll especially in Nov, Dec, Jan, and Feb. So in a bad year, at this point, it would be about 20,000 so far. Compared to the 115,000 from COVID, so far. In three months.
2:33 During the six-month flu season it was about 4x the number of infections but less than half the number of deaths that COVID has done in three months. And COVID is just getting started. Estimates are it will go throughout the year and cause at least another 100,000 deaths even with the precautions that are being taken.
Look at the hospitalization numbers. That is what Dr. Fauci has said tells the true tale of the disease. Here in MS we’re at the top with no indication it will decrease. Keep it up and refuse to wear masks and we’ll be back under a lockdown once school starts.
At this point we are just going tonhave to live with the feeble people dying as we always have before. We are never going to shut down again. Get a grip snowflakes.
Flu killed 910 people in Mississippi in 2018. 784 in 2017. This being a government report, of course we don't have 2019 on the internet yet. So, yes COVID-19 is worse than the flu. But no, its not multiples worse. Maybe twice as bad as a normal flu year. Not worth shutting down the economy. Or even the bars. Just tighten up at the nursing homes.
https://msdh.ms.gov/msdhsite/_static/31,0,75,702.html
Louisiana posted almost 1,300 new cases today, but stated 560 of those cases were due to a backlog from 3 labs as far back as April 25th. Why can't Mississippi provide information on when the tests were taken and then reported?
No worse than the flu, fake news. Open er up
When are people going to focus on the survival rate and not the number of new cases? I had an antibody test done last week and the RN who did the test told me that if I tested positive fof the antibody, they have to count me as a new positive case, which is not accurate!
There have been 2,141,647 cases in America, and 117,524 deaths.
117,524 divided by 2,141,647 = 0.549
Take 0.549 and multiply times 100 = 5.49%
100% minus 5.49% = 94.51%
THIS MEANS THE UNITED STATES SURVIVAL PERCENTAGE IS 94.51. THE MORE POSITIVE TESTS, AND THE LOWER THE NUMBER OF DEATHS MOVES THE SURVIVAL RATE CLOSER TO 100%.
LIikewise in Mississippi, there have been 19,348 cases and 889 deaths. Using the same formula above, THE SURVIVAL RATE IN MISSISSIPPI IS 95.41%
BOTH OF THESE PERCENTAGES CONTINUE TO RISE CLOSER TO 100 EACH DAY. THIS IS WHAT WE ALL SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON, NOT THE NUMBER OF NEW CASES.
I rest my case.
There is a big difference in dying with Covid and dying because of Covid. How many of those 115,000 would have still been around in 90 days? Half at most?
I am grateful and thankful the nursing facility in which my mother lives has managed to remain free of COVID-19, with the exception of one PRN employee who tested positive. I appreciate the transparency of the facility in keeping us family members notified. I literally hold my breath every day when the MSDH releases new numbers.
Why no cancer and heart disease stats too? And jump off a bridge stats? Everyone knows Covid is a left wing conspiracy funded by Hillary and Biden. They gave billions to the Chinese lab that invented Covid. I heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it on Fox News. So it's true.
Keep the flag, keep saying "flu" and keep watching educated folks send their kids out of state after high school. Go Miss! We're # 50! Woo hoo!
The number of hospitalizations is the key stat. Countries that were ahead of this on the covid wave like Italy is reporting that the current iteration of the virus is much weaker than the original killer strain. Unfortunately the elderly must remain cocooned along with those with co-morbidities. Most people should boost their immune systems with a focus on zinc, vitamin c, magnesium and sunlight( vitamin d).
So, I’m told not to visit my grandkids, but it’s OK to eat out and go to a bar, by leaders not wearing masks telling me to wear a mask...I’m confused...
It is not going away, yet so many people are continuing life as they were pre-covid. Sad that so many cannot be even slightly inconvenienced to save the lives of others.
Fat Melvin so badly wants to be a somebody.
I look at this chart and think it's good news. I'm not very concerned about the number of people infected or suspected to be infected. I'm concerned about the number deaths and the number of serious cases which are indicated in part by the number of people in ICU and/or on a ventilator. The curves on the number of people in ICU and/or on a ventilator are basically flat for the last month. That's good. That's what the experts told us we wanted to get to. WE'RE THERE!
And it's even better than that. Notwithstanding increases in suspected and confirmed cases, the curve remains essentially flat. In other words, the disease is becoming less virulent - or at least treatment is improving.
Again. This chart is good news.
The anti-body test available in MS will test positive for having a recent "common cold." It is worthless. I wasted $50 on a test that I was misinformed about.
This is like a John Lovitz skit, he tells a lie, it is believed yeah, yeah, thats the ticket. Then the whoppers get
bigger and bigger.
I get sick when told to stay safe. There won' be anything left after a while of staying safe.
Hey it's hot now! We were told the virus would magically disappear once it got hot outside!
We can open up anyway and then hold a press conference where we say that it’s a great day for the deceased COVID victims because the economy had a good day.
It’s been done before...
10:50. common colds are caused by coronaviruses.
@10:50. "The anti-body test available in MS..." Sorry you purchased a lemon. There are many antibody tests available in Mississippi. Some of them (those offered by Quest and LabCorp) are quite good and are not positive in people who have had the common cold. Your note helps inform in that this is a buyer beware moment. Make certain that anyone selling you an antibody test is using an EUA (FDA Emergency Use Authorized) kit. Both Quest and LabCorp offer an EUA Abbott kit (among others).
10:50: what?
Covid is no worse than other medical issues in this country. We see laser like focus on Covid for an unknown reason. I am sure this will reduce over time while other medical issues will stay at their present numbers. Get out in the sun.
Because Coronavirus surpassed flu deaths in just two months and is still killing at a rate that makes the flu look like a footnote. That’s why, geniuses.
We kept hearing it was no big deal and would fizzle out quickly right up to the point where the military had to be called in to haul all the bodies out of Lombardy in Italy because both the medical and funeral capacities were completely overwhelmed. Then it got serious, but we said that could never happen here and then we saw the images in New York with overrun emergency rooms and regular areas hastily converted into ICUs and decaying bodies piling up in back rooms and trucks.
Go ahead and keep denying how dangerous COVID is. The containment measures have worked despite a small group of willfully ignorant people refusing to do anything to help their fellow citizens. The projections of a million Americans dead was a distinct possibility we have been able to likely cut by 75% with social distancing and wearing masks. It was a warning for action, not a goal to reach. High score doesn’t win.
@9:06am - There’s only stable geniuses in here, therefore your facts are meaningless.
@10:50 PM here..The test that I obtained was initiated by TrustCare in Ridgeland. They did the blood draw. The specimen was sent to SDH Sat lab in Flowood.
The test results say:
"SARS-CoV-2 IgG for use under an Emergency Use Authorization only." (EUA)
This test may show positive for a recent common cold, according to the lab report that I received.
@10:50. You had a good test. Disclaimers have to be put on all positive tests.
