Passenger in Fortification St. murder victim's car was busted for coke in July

Police have not released the name of the passenger in Chelsie Kirchsten's car  at the time Chelsie was murdered a week ago on Fortification Street.  JPD has not yet made an arrest for her murder. The passenger was arrested for cocaine possession in Jackson last month.

The passenger is a 22 year-old white female who went to Brandon High School with the murder victim.  Arrest records state JPD arrested the passenger early one July morning for a traffic violation and cocaine possession.  She was at first booked for felony cocaine possession but it was reduced to a misdemeanor.

JPD also arrested the passenger's boyfriend at the same time and charged him with disorderly conduct and disobeying a police officer.  He is a 28 year-old white male from Rankin County. They were both released on their own recognizance and did not have to post bond.    JJ is withholding their names to avoid compromising the investigation or endangering these two individuals.

Crimestoppers has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of this killer.  Please call Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online through the Web Tip link on the home page of the Central MS Crime Stoppers website. Use your mobile device or computer to submit a tip by going to www.P3tips.com.

Been tellin' ya. The 'passenger' lied. The shooter was in the car with them riding through town to score dope. And he is well known to the 'passenger'. No black man with silver gun is involved.

Anonymous said...

That Street Life will get you killed. They probably tried to cheat the drug man and it probably wasn't the first time.

Kingfish said...

You're half right. Wasn't in car. Bullet trajectory proves it.

Anonymous said...

Wasn't a 'random shooting' as many tried to sell, but was a drug deal collection. Don't know about drivers involvement or if she was just with the wrong person ar the wrong time. The location had little to do with the crime - other than the bill collector knowing the travel route of the debtors.

Anonymous said...

I'm guessing the shooting didn't actually occur at Fortification and State Street?

Da Fat Man said...

I knew it was more to the story when the victim's brother said that she was getting her life back together.

Kingfish said...

It happened there. broken glass was all over the place.

This proves nothing. If these girls were doing coke, I can just about guarantee you they weren't going to the ghetto to get it. Crappy weed or crack, yes. Good coke, no.

For every asshole who impugned Jackson as a result of this event....Know you are horrible people.

I stated earlier that there was more to this...it did not make sense. I also stated that where this girl was coming from indicated she was not just driving around....esp at the time stated.

If you play with shit you get dirty.

I hope they discover the truth not just for the girls family but for Jackson and to show asshats on this blog (if you are getting upset that means it's you asshat) that Jackson is not, in and of itself, a death chamber.

If you don't understand this....go shoot yourself....today.

So whites from Rankin County come to Jackson to buy drugs... but I thought all the crime was caused by blacks from Jackson and we just need to put up a wall around the city to stop crime from spreading.

Now we have to figure out a way to keep the white kids addicted to drugs in the suburbans and crime from Jackson might go down some.

Or maybe we realize every community has problems and we start working to actually address the real issues instead of pointing fingers.

Kingfish said...

Really? Major ring was busted on Lorraine Street two weeks ago. That is in Belhaven Heights. Drug deals happen at that car wash on West and Fortification all the time.

Anonymous said...

There are no shortage of reasons for to which to impugn Jackson. The horrible person is the one who rationalizes the death as unfortunate but acceptable. Grow up jerk.

Anonymous said...

Like someone asked on another post, any idea if the cameras all over that intersection are not working?

Anonymous said...

Just because the passenger got arrested for coke a while back proves nothing. They were seen at the bar down the street. This is one of the quickest ways out of the bar and to the interstate. You Jackson yuppies are so desperate to claim you're city is a safe place to be, you'll assume anything.

Anonymous said...

The major ring that was busted on Lorraine Street in Belhaven Heights? All the cars at that house, including the one that belongs to the lady who got busted, all have Rankin County license plates. Almost every single car that came to that house? Rankin County license plates.

I know - I live around there and saw what was going on.

9:57 and 10:00 You're both right! I never considered what you're saying before, but I believe you're right!

For being in the area she was in, at the time she was there, the girl deserved to be shot! Jackson isn't a dangerous place, and this was simply a case of workplace violence that can, and DOES, happen ANYWHERE! The GIRL was the criminal, not the b**** (don't want to trigger anyone) guy who shot her. Putting up a wall, as you say, to stem the tide of crime beyond the borders of Jackson would be a fool's errand, as we ALL now know the true reason for crime in Jackson is due to outsiders coming IN to Jackson to allow the crime to occur! Again, I never thought about this before you brought it up, but it makes perfectly good sense!

At the end of the day, we know the real story is: the suburbs are EASILY as crime-ridden as the City of Jackson, as crime can, and does, occur everywhere, and it's totally unfair to Jackson to claim otherwise

Some of you speculators sound like Inspector Clouseau---STOP---I'm glad none of you are police detectives or I would be hiding in a corner.

The so-called 'ass-hats' are the ones that refuse to admit that Jacktown is a shit hole. When the residents continue to elect clowns like Yarber and Baby Chok, then nothing is ever going to improve. Shuck & jive 'politicians' like that have no interest in actually improving the situation in Jackson. Their only interest is to tell the residents what they want to hear and to collect a check. Chok Jr. must be using Harvey's old playbook, because for the most part he has been MIA since taking office. But, I'm quite certain that he hasn't missed out on getting his check on payday. Y'all can keep on suckin' on that 'Jackson is going to get better' pipe dream, but it ain't happening......the proof is in the pudding!!

Anonymous said...

And after leaving "the bar down the street" (old George Street) you don't consider that her or her passenger's altercation started there and she was followed to this intersection? Drug dealer / supplier that wanted to collect confronts them here?

As has been said, much more to come out on this as LEOS complete their work. But not just a 'random, Jackson' killing.

The State of Mississippi needs to take over Jackson, call out the National Guard and get some stability back to this once great city.

Facts are facts, white flight is a reality and black flight is also a reality---Philbilly needs to do something as the state is part of the problem.

Haven't seen it mentioned on here yet, or anywhere else public, but when "the passenger" got arrested on that charge in July, there were other people in the vehicle with "the passenger" who did not get arrested. One of those people was none other than the victim.

Trying times in the Big City. I don't think that it is going to get any better, either. How long has Kim Wade been telling people on Fridays to get outta town before the Jackson Gun and Knife Show starts?

That said, if folks in Rankin and Madison County would stay out of Jackson, we could see how quickly the crime all dried up. A curse on those Rankin/Madison folks for turning Jackson into what it is. Those folks should be ashamed of themselves corrupting Jackson like they have.

Prayers for the girl's family and friends. And for the families and friends of all the victims of the Rankin/Madison crime families.

Some of you sound clueless and hateful. Jackson has an over abundance of crime as a statistical fact. Also has incredibly low wages, and little to no opportunity for advancement by the people who actually live in the city. Surrounding counties having an abundance of drug users is one of the worst kept secrets. Those counties also have the priveledge of not having to deal with some of the politics and problems that come along with having such a large population and so little income as the capital city. As far as this murder all this is conjecture and spectulation. Keeping white people out of Jackson aint gonna stop blacks from buying and selling drugs or anything else that comes along with free will in the city nor will it stop whites from buying and selling it in surrounding counties. Jackson doesn't need the state to do anymore for it than it has done for surrounding counties. The same would be a welcomed change though. What Jackson needs is for it's citizens to take their community's decline more serious and become active in it's resurrecting. Yall, WE, are so busy throwing stones that forget we all live in glass houses. Consider this, if your neighbors house is draining your property value, you could a) report them and increase your home valueb or b) help and increase your home value and create a better community. Because whether we realize it or not, we are on the same boat, maybe different ends, but the same boat. Be the difference. Make a difference! Or just keep pointing fingers on blogs.

My name is Debra Taylor Collins. NOT someone hiding behind his comments with a screen name of ANONYMOUS, ffs. I've been mugged at gun-point and robbed by a black male on old Canton road at my, then residence,,,,,broken into my house in the Fondren area , at that time, by a black male with a knive who assaulted me at 11pm,,and I finally had enough and moved to Rankin Co. I've never placed myself in harms way,,never had dealings with drugs or any other criminal activity. I work at a large place on the frontage road almost at County Line road now. We've had cars stolen out of our parking lot. I avoid going into Jackson for any reason. Beemons got robbed yesterday in maywood Mart. I've been in McDade's when shoplifters were chased and caught. I sure as hell won't go to Kroger on I-55 North or stay in a freakin motel ANYWHERE close to Jackson.
Blaming this girls murder on Rankin Co people is absurd. I guess all those dead bodies strewn around Jackson with their heads sawed off came from Rankin Co. also? Good try. Jackson is a hellhole run by greedy blacks who don't give a damn about anything except making money for themselves and their out of state buddies then splitting. Good luck with trying to make lil Chicago look as if it is "someone else's " fault Jackson has no tax base, crap infrastructure and police that shoot themselves, wreck their cars and get arrested for crimes. Grow a pair and take responsibility for your own communities, the problem STARTS IN THE HOME. WITH A DADDY. AND HONEST WORK. AND MAKING YOUR KIDS GO TO SCHOOL AND BEING FRICKIN PARENTS. AS FOR ME,,I'm happy as a lark in Rankin Co. (Did you know Rankin Co has cheaper car tags than Hinds Co and LOTS of people LIE to get car tags here. Just a lil WELL KNOWN FACT. DUH)

But guess what? She's back at home! I saw her out in the front yard two days ago. Not nearly as many visitors now though...

There seems to be a lot of anger with this particular one. I wish y'all would get as angry with every murder in ( OR AROUND) Jackson. Of course the suburbs have crime. I don't think anyone with a sane head can say that they don't have crime.

People are assuming things and won't let the facts lead where they may. This isn't some real life version of NCIS or a murder mystery book.

I have a hard time believing that they just stopped at a red light and one was shot 'just cuz'. There is always more to the story than just someone winding up dead and the initial report. You ask yourself this -- what good will pointing fingers on the internet do?

People shouldn't have to die so young no matter the circumstances, race, OR locality. Without being able to view any evidence, there is no way you can definitively say "I know exactly what happened".

As far as calling me an 'asshat' for "impugning Jackson"; look at all of the attention given to this instance. Adopt the same amount of concern for EVERY life lost in your area if you can muster it or if you have the time. That's the only way things will change--when the citizens of any area demand answers.

I have had to watch cities burn because of a certain group that screams to the world that Black Lives Matter--please act like it.

Obviously, you've never lived in Jackson, Mississippi. Because if you HAD lived there, you'd know that people don't DARE call the cops on drug dealers. The "law" in Jackson, has PROTECTED the dealers - for DECADES - even during white administrations.

And really, those of us who did live in Jackson, learned not to bother calling the police about ANYTHING, other than a very serious ongoing crime. Even then, we didn't have any expectations of their arrival, or of their doing anything, if they DID arrive.

The sort of thing I've just described, is why most of us left.

I cannot believe some of the things I've seen written. All I'm going to do tonight is pray for you all that think this poor girl deserved to be shot and that white people from Rankin and Madison counties are causing Jackson to fall. And don't even bother replying to what I said bc I aint wasting anymore of my time reading this crap on here.

Thanks, KF, for giving us all a forum to discuss issues. So much is not revealed, and when the truth comes out, it makes more sense. It breaks my heart to see precious kids - white, black or whatever - lose their life, but we all need to know the facts. We need more facts to figure out where the danger is - if people who are not engaged in buying drugs are being killed, I want to know. I love my city - and having some light shed on a horrible situation gives me direction about what to think/do about my home town.My heart hurts for those entrapped by drugs - and it could be someone in my family any day - but there's a distinction between a random shooting and one that may be tied to other issues.

It's a shame that all the media has left to report is throwing salt on the death of a solid young life. If someone had not sent me this link I would never have wasted my time reading this.. quit stirring the pot. Fact is, JPD has no lead, and are too dense to know where to begin to look. You want Jackson to thrive? Fix the crime. I'm in this area every day and night, I promise you are not, Jackson is my city and I refuse to let it be taken from me. Life is not some episode of CSI, sometimes people are just crazy and do bad things for no reason, hard to believe huh? Wake up for once. I know both of these girls and to sit here and try and tell me there is some conspiracy theory is the most inconsiderate thing I have ever heard.. imagine you and your friend riding down the street, stopping at one of the busiest intersections in the capitol of our state, then your friend getting shot.. can't imagine it can you? But then imagine the media bringing up everything you have ever done wrong instead of leading with "hey we have 5 racks for who ever can help us." That's the real shame. I been there, and believe me when I say no one in this thread has ever been through what I have, then gone to where I'm at. Quit letting the media distract you, link up, and try to find some justice. Because they don't know how. What, you really think some angry drug dealer is just lurking at a red light all night until one of 173000 people (the population of Jackson for those of you too slow) to ride by? Ain no way.. if you think that then there is no hope for you either. Keep your eyes open and your ears up, an if you don't, I pray the media doesn't slander you too.. aye rest easy Chelsie, god knows i know. - RR.

I don't see where anybody on any of these threads has said she either needed to be killed, deserved to be killed or was involved in a crime. So, where is that coming from?

But, I will suggest that a 22 year old female survivor, busted last month for cocaine possession claiming a black man with a gun was present at midnight...needs to be viewed with caution, or at least a 'say what?'

This is what we get when we center our lives around motorcycles, titty-bars, cocaine, bling, rims and tattoos. Put any two or more of those together and nothing good will come from it.

How many of us have screwed up when we were 18-23?

Trick is you pull out of it.

This young lady and her friend did not deserve this period. She never had time to redirect, if there WAS a personal problem. I look back now at that age, and think geeze -- some bad choices, some good, but none life altering thank God. If we're honest with ourselves, we also look at OUR children and thank God they made it through that age, period, without any huge effects on their lives, and are happy they are productive adults now who "get it" and understand the parental pressure applied during the college years and even beyond.

In her case, random act OR direct connection -- doesn't really matter, other than her parents are grieving, her brother is obviously grieving and at the end of the day, she doesn't have a chance to do, or change anything in life.

Her friend does, and we'll hope whatever the circumstances, she takes this opportunity. No matter what -- she viewed someone get shot, and die in front of her (in her lap if all accounts are correct). THAT will be one of those things in life at her age, that WILL have a lasting effect. Let's hope a positive one out of the negative event, and one young life is changed for the better. The waste would be if she uses it to continue making bad decisions, if the arrest is correct (which sounds like it is per KF).

People give this a little thought.
There is a building in Jackson that monitors cameras all over Jackson.
Our one time crazy mayor cut the lock off of it and the local newspaper showed the monitors. The lock was replaced and people act like they never heard of the place.
We were told the monitor filled building was for traffic surveillance. The intersection where the girl was killed is covered by several of the cameras.
Also if the cops were serious about finding the killer they could ask the Baptist hospital for the camera footage they have of the intersection. There are even cameras at the businesses in the area that could help.

Somehow the law enforcement of Jackson does not have anyone qualified to look at any of the monitors, and there are several.
Whatever happened the night the girl was killed is on film. All they need to do is look at it. For some reason this has not been done.
Wonder how many of the people killed in Jackson has been caught on cameras?
What would be a better question is why does the law refuse to look at what is so easily seen?

Anonymous said...

If you believe this shooting was truly random, you believe there's likely a murderous psychopath roaming the streets of Jackson, likely a white male, educated, employed, and likely to kill again. This kind of serial killer stuff is as terrifying as it is unlikely.

The most reasonable, non-racist explanation is that this crime had a motive.

Who is this forensics profiler at 3:17 and how often has he watched Law and Order?

First this goob speculates that the killer is a murderous psychopath roaming around randomly killing people. Then he switches directions and mumbles about motive. a 'murderous psychopath' doesn't fart around with motives. People like 3:17 are dangerous.

Anybody who believe an employed white man with a silver gun is walking around the intersections of central Jackson at midnight is nucking futs.

Y'all are assuming that if there are cameras at that location, they can actually record. Don't assume such. Example: The cameras at the Hinds SO downtown offices and in the courthouse can't record. KINGFISH--I've said since the beginning that things don't add up too. I believe there has to be a lot more that isn't being said, or covered up. The fact that they don't release the friends name is the one big thing I find odd, but another that I just can't shake....at that intersection, less than a few hundred feet away is the pull-up entrance to the Baptist Emergency room. Why would she have continued to drive all the way towards the interstate (on hilly-Fortification) to get away from the area if it were an innocent night out on the town and someone approached her car and shot her randomly? Why not turn to go directly to the hospital? I have believed all along the friend had something to do with it, either directly or indirectly.

When someone shoots you most of your thoughts are about getting the hell away from them. Getting shot is not like what is shown on the TV.
Many of the people posting here are setting in their own home safe and sound. If someone came through the front door shooting at you do you think you would be so calm as to think before doing something?

You want them to release the name of the only eyewitness to a homicide?!? And just how long do you think that eyewitness would stay alive if (as alleged) this is a drug deal gone bad?

Please tell me someone as stupid as you doesn't vote....

9:34 - Every soul at twin-boobs knows exactly who she is. That includes customers as well as employees. And, if it was a drug deal, so do the dealers and mules.

But, I have a question. When was the last time a murder mystery was solved by Jackson MD investigators?

Those of you desperately making excuses for murder need to be put away somewhere. You're SICK.

You all seem to miss the whole point - the fact that the suspect doesn't match the description of a psychopath makes it even MORE likely the crime had a motive and wasn't random. That's allthat's being said in 3:17 above. It is very unlikely this crime had no motive. You have to look past a time of more likely explanations to reach "random black guy randomly kills white girl for no reason." That would be exceedingly rare.

Seriously....who can recall the last time the Jackson PoPo solved a murder mystery?

By the way....Twin Peaks, like Hooters, is not just a fun place selling wings where you take your thirteen year old son to watch his eyes bug out. Motorcycles are in the parking lots for a reason. Beater trucks are parked there for a reason. 20 year old dropouts and strippers are employed there for a reason. And there is a reason you won't find these establishments in the burbs of Jacktown. Conditional use permits will not allow them.

It took this thread to bring Paul Mitchell out of the woodwork. I'll pay him to change his profile mug.

Debra Collins, do you even know any, as you put it, "the blacks"? I will pray for you because you are truly pathetic. I am one of "the blacks". I moved to Jackson in 1984. I have never been robbed, raped, or shot. My house has never been broken into, and my car has never been burglarized or stolen. I do know that these things happen in Jackson, Madison, Rankin, and every other county in the state. If there was no crime in Rankin County, you would have no need for law enforcement. The last time I checked, Rankin County had a sheriff, district attorney, and a courthouse. New commandment: Thou shalt not whine.

I have lived in Jackson for 50 years. I don't care what color your skin is, but no one can deny that black males are responsible for the vast majority of crime here and elsewhere around the U.S.

That "life" is glamorized and part of the culture. But, just like the other poster, your single individual experience doesn't provide any context and attempting to establish a point based on either of y'alls individual experience is just ignorance on both parts.

I have had 2 attempted thefts at my home. One I stopped with a protection dog and handgun (no shots fired) and one ran before being able to do anything. One was a white male from Rankin County and the other was a 20s black male. I have had my vehicle broken into in another city by a black male.

My point? It doesn't matter what the color of the skin is in my individual experiences, it was personal and individual. But, in aggregate, there is a cultural problem among black males. That doesn't mean every black person or every black male is a criminal, but it also doesn't mean you just ignore the facts, overall, about black males and crime.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
