Child in Critical Condition After Being Found Unresponsive in a Swimming Pool
On Tuesday evening August 1st, 2017, at approximately 6:49 p.m. the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department received a report of an unresponsive child who had been pulled from a swimming pool on Old Place Road near the City of Florence.
Rankin County Deputies, Florence Fire Department and Pafford Ambulance Service started responding to the scene. Before first responders arrived on scene, the mother had pulled the child from the pool. A deputy was the first responder on the scene and began CPR. Florence Fire and Pafford arrived and took over resuscitation efforts. The child was transported to Blair E. Batson Hospital in Jackson.
The child is two years old and is listed in critical condition at this time.
Our prayers are with the young child, the family and the first responders.
