Indictment: D.A. pointed a gun at girlfriend.

Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith is on his way to the Rankin County government complex to pick up an indictment against him.  A Rankin County grand jury indicted him for one count of aggravated stalking, one count of robbery, one misdemeanor counts of simple assault domestic violence.  The Attorney General is prosecuting the case. The indictment and mug shots are posted below.

We got killers on the loose and jim hood playing poltically games

"Rankin County"....... uh oh.

Anonymous said...

Domestic Violence? Could Tom Head be involved?

Anonymous said...

Do you think he may request a change of venue? P.S. Has anyone bought the Epps' house in Rankin County. It may be worth looking at and demolishing brick by brick to try to find what he was looking for after he illegally broke into it.

The AG doesn't pursue killers on the loose, 12:26.

Anonymous said...

sounds like an OJ deal, can't get him on the big case, so we'll get him on the bogus little stuff.

Louis LeFleur said...

I hate to have to say it, but thanks Rankin County!

Justice for Trayvon said...

12:26 is right. This is all political at a time when the AG need to be cleaning up all of the violent crime in Jackson, but instead he is going after our elected DA. Unbelievable.

Kingfish said...

Why don't you ask why the D.A. doesn't clean up violent crime in Hinds County. The Supreme Court placed the blame squarely on him for not moving the dockets along. The study of the Hinds County criminal justice system that came out last summer did so as well. Even Judge Reeves fired a shot at him or is he now a Tom? Why don't you ask why he doesn't ask the court to revoke Vidal Sullivan's probation and put his ass back in jail for four years.

Having said that, the AG better have a strong case and not just an affidavit signed by an ex.

Anonymous said...

12:51 - Bend over and let me break this to your gently. It is the job of the folks you elect in Jackson to appoint the right people to 'clean up all the violent crime in Jackson'. It isn't the job of the State's Attorney General.

And while you're in that bent over position, all greased up, let me remind you that your elected D.A., in consort with your elected judges, are the ones who dismiss charges, impose chicken-shit sentences and encourage violent criminal behavior.

Anonymous said...

I live in Jackson, and can't understand why anyone could think the AG is responsible for the crime there. It is attributable to (1) the criminals, (2) DA Smith, and (3) certain judges, in that order. Getting rid of (2) and (3) would go a long way.

I was expecting a charge for falsifying eyebrows

If he's not been served with the indictment yet, who leaked?

§ 99-7-15. Authority to inspect indictment limited to certain officers until arrest made

An indictment returned into the clerk of the circuit court, shall not be inspected by any person but the judge, clerk, district attorney, and sheriff, until the defendant shall have been arrested or has entered into bail or recognizance for the offense.

Justice for Trayvon said...

Kingfish and 12:57, yall are wrong to blame our DA and "the criminal justics system" we have in hinds but that is misplaced blame. People like you just couldn't stand to be in Jackson with black leaders in power so yall fled like the folks that you are and left. And now you sit there and criticize our leaders because our system is more fair to us than it would ever be in Rankin or Madison. And you do everything in your power to tear us down because you don't want Jackson to be a success so you take our resources and throw our leaders in jail. But none of yall ever see the truth for what it is.

Dude always looks like Otis Campbell in his mugshots.

Does "11" near scars/marks/tattoos mean that he has 11 tats? Savage. He may be adding one of those teardrop thingys here soon.

Anonymous said...

What does "11" mean for scars/tattoos? Surely he doesn't have 11 tats...unless he got them where no one can see them haha.

Bigger issue is this: will Smith get out on bail? He shouldn't:

"If a person charged with committing any offense that is punishable by death, life imprisonment or imprisonment for one (1) year or more in the penitentiary or any other state correctional facility is granted bail and (a) if that person is indicted for a felony committed while on bail; or (b) if the court, upon hearing, finds probable cause that the person has committed a felony while on bail, then the court shall revoke bail and shall order that the person be detained, without further bail, pending trial of the charge for which bail was revoked."

Miss. Const. Ann. Art. 3, § 29

1:13 for comment of the year.

Justice for Trayvon demonstrates in a nutshell what is wrong with Jackson. Black crime is out of control, the black DA and majority black Hinds County judiciary won't address it, and yet it's somehow whitey's fault, or more particularly Rankin and Madison county whitey's fault. Hey JFT, why not try holding your own accountable and demanding better. But we all know it's easier to blame others and yell racism. Pathetic.

Anonymous said...

Wow!He little man. Only 5'7".

Anonymous said...

Some woman named Christie Edwards is the other party. Ross Adams-WAPT was reading the indictment just now on Facebook. It says Smith threw her into a counter. It says they formerly dated.

The thuggery continues compliments of Hinds County. I am soooooo glad that I moved North.

Alpha Storm said...

Is this what you call thug life?

Anonymous said...

1:13 What are you talking about? Robert has been served with the indictment and arrested. Nobody "leaked" a thing.
In Rankin and Madison counties we do things the right and legal way.

Anonymous said...

1:22 -

How about you learn to spell the word "justice" before you start commenting.

Anonymous said...

Like the movie A Time to Kill with Samuel L Jackson, close you eyes and think about the Hinds DA..can you see him, now imagine he was white...just for fun someone like Jackson had about 25 years ago.

Anonymous said...

Wait, the alleged incident happened almost 2 years ago in August of 2015???

Anonymous said...

People defending Smith need to realize Smith put himself in this spot. I hate to say it but he is a thug. Thugs will get on social media and defend their fellow thugs. These people will scream racism but, when it gets to the brass tacks of it, it is about thugs protecting thugs.

Anonymous said...

I'm not a RSS fan at all but this indictment stinks. A 2 year old charge? And he took a gun away from her?? Hell, is he supposed to let her use it on him??

Unless the AG has some corroborating evidence this is a crappy indictment. If not, why wait so long to bring the charges?

Anonymous said...

He had a girlfriend?

Anonymous said...

Hey KF - looks like WAPT posted a different indictment - threatening with a handgun and then taking her handgun. Are these the same ones you posted?

Anonymous said...

2:38, don't you know its RAYCISSS to demand that folk spell things correctly?

And Justice for Trayvon - has Hinds County seceded from state, or United States and now operates under an independent justice system? What is this "our system" you speak of? I'll assume that as a white person I'll be treated differently in YOUR system? If that's the case, then quit bitching when you face harsher consequences in "our" system in Rankin and Madison County.

The truth is a fickle bitch now isn't it???

Anonymous said...

12:43, Epps said he was looking for some light fixtures. Don't you believe that?

Anonymous said...

Gee 2:28... I don't know where I would have gotten the idea that existence of the indictment was out in the open before the defendant was served. Oh yeah, the first sentence of this article. "Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith is on his way to the Rankin County government complex to pick up an indictment against him."

Anonymous said...

1:22 stands at the pulpit and sez, "And you do everything in your power to tear us down because you don't want Jackson to be a success so you take our resources and throw our leaders in jail."

What resources? And if they exist, which ones have been 'taken'? Which 'leaders' have been thrown in jail and just how are they 'leading'?

This guy is a disgrace to Jackson, a bigger disgrace to black people in general and a supreme disgrace to those who elected him. How in the hell can you call him a leader and support him? He is at the forefront of those who are dragging your city down and burying you.

Anonymous said...

2 years ago? I would think normally a domestic case would be brought almost immediately. Kinda odd.

Anonymous said...

Hot Damn! BTW, 12:57 PM, your graphic rectal descriptions are really disgusting and overshadow whatever you may want to communicate. To JFT, take a stroll through Hinds County courtrooms and see how many are occupied and busy. Their lack of use has resulted in many still being in jail awaiting trial and in inappropriate plea bargains thereby releasing people to commit even worse crimes. An upright and honorable DA, of any race, would certainly help reduce crime in Hinds County. Not every problem faced by society is the result of racial animus. Are you denying the devil still works in the lives of evil people?

Anonymous said...

6:01pm, sounds like ole Christie mama been saving this one up for a rainy day.

Anonymous said...

What powerful white person(s) did RSS piss off enough to have the AG continue pursuing him so vigorously? On 2-year old charges nonetheless!

Anonymous said...

Like Smith's office is indicting people faster than two years? Hardly.

Anonymous said...

The only question that matters is whether our DA threw a woman against a counter and pointed a gun at her. You puff pieces for RSS can continue to shout conspiracy all you want, but that's the only question that matters.

Anonymous said...

Two indictments, both alleging common scheme and plan, one alleging misdemeanors, one alleging felonies. Both alleging basically the same incident. 21.5 months ago. A. Indicting solely misdemeanors almost never happens. Indicting misdemeanors in conjunction with a felony does. So, the first one is already shady as hell. But, as seen already, a misdemeanors indictment conviction can get a DA removed, thus the point of the first indictment. Second indictment, again common scheme and/or plan, carries real time potentially. So, AG tells Smith he can plead to misdemeanor(s) and they'll drop felonies. Chickenshit. All y'all happy about this, remember this kind of bullshit can be pulled on anyone, depending on who is in power. All you commentators pissed off the guy got indicted over killing the kid at his business, should pay real close attention to this. This is a gross abuse of power. If the charges had alleged occurred a month ago, I'd get it. Maybe. Two indictments is still BS. But almost two years ago? Is Guest so inept his folks couldn't make a case and needed the freaking AG's office, who couldn't convict Butler last week, to do it? Smith is not my most favorite person, but we all should be very concerned by political prosecutions, and that's all this is.

Anonymous said...

If a woman (or man) was threatened or assaulted in a domestic incident I would think the most frequent procedure would be an immediate arrest, a restraining order, etc. especially if a gun was involved.

Anonymous said...

Two years is a long time to sit on a case. The AG's office has the same fishy smell as the DA's. You don't have to be black or white to notice it. Just a little common sense. Stevie Wonder can see that!

Anonymous said...

is this the best that you people from Hinds County have to offer? thugs, pimps and morons?

Anonymous said...

@7:06

I'm not a supporter of RSS and your post is spot on. Total BS indictment. The guy who RSS was accused of helping, Butler, didn't even get convicted last week with AG prosecuting in front of the toughest pro prosecution judge in the State.. Total witch hunt. The are going to continue to try until they get him.

Anonymous said...

WTF is Robert Anderson bring a nearly 2 year old charge for near the start of trial? Is this the attempt of a vengeful zealot to rattle Smith before the trial? I don't trust the timing here at all.

Anonymous said...

Desperate. Bob, grow a pair and stand up to your boss.

Anonymous said...

Bob: everything we ride the elevator together at Sillers, I think "what a douchebag."

Anonymous said...

So no bond? I guess this goes to show you that domestic violence, even involving a weapon means nothing to whichever judge released him - so Jackson folks, if you want to "slap somebody around" just bring her across over the Pearl - why, even bring her at gunpoint and we'll just book you (wink wink) and send you home so you can head right back over to her place for another round with her. For goodness sake Rankin Ciunty, at least pretend domestic violence is not to be tolerated and make him post a bond before you turn him loose.

Anonymous said...

the legislature has said that a dating relationship is a domestic situation, that is garbage, just cause you date a woman does not make it a domestic relationship. even if he is convicted of this the supreme court will reverse.

Anonymous said...

Smith leaves a lot to be desired as a DA and the whole Hinds County Justice system has been inadequate, but that does not mean he should be railroaded out of office at any cost. Jim Hood runs a rudderless ship with a bunch of loose cannons who can pursue any personal vendetta they want. If they will continue their heavy handed pursuit Smith will attract public sympathy as a victim of their overkill, then they will make it impossible to remove him at the polls. They will create another Kenny Stokes who thumbs his nose at the white establishment trying to defeat him. (Even though the Assistant AG's after RSS are Black!) If they don't get him now, these asses will defeat their own purpose!

Anonymous said...

All the RSS defenders, or Hood haters, whichever -how about getting some facts in your arsenal before you start firing your shots. This was a two year old incident, but the GF was reluctant to proceed after the initial reporting. If the main witness - the one that was shoved against the counter with gun pointed in her face - ain't talking to the grand jury, then there is not indictment. For whatever reason she wanted to go forward.

Question - if the woman wanted to press charges on this incident how would you feel if the DA/AG did not carry it to the grand jury? Take out the individuals in this case; would you then start bitching about the fact that LEOs didn't care about someone beating up on a woman? That they turned a blind eye because it involved an elected official? Damn right you would.

AG would be involved in this case at the request of the DA. With the political ions floating all around the orbit of this situation the appropriate action was for the DA to hand it off.

All this huffing and puffing is focused on the wrong question. Does our DA have an anger management issue? Does he have other issues that lead to this kind of behavior? Do those other issues affect his ability to conduct his job as DA?

Even if the answer to the third above is no, would anyone else that faced the allegations outlined walk away without penalty? If the answer is no, then neither should RSS, no matter the result to his professional career.

HDMatthias, MD said...

Hey, Kingfish. This occurred two years ago? Why now? Why so delayed?

Anonymous said...

Why was this originally reported to the FBI (Culpepper?) instead of Sheriff Brian Bailey? Then, is turned over to AG! Something is rotten in Jackson in the Sillers Building!!!

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
