I certainly agree with Senator Wicker. Any nomination that Obama would submit would be extremely liberal and would therefore make the Court a liberal one. Many of our ideals that we have always lived with could be in jeopardy.

Ironic that the Senators wanting to ensure another Scalia is on the bench refuse to do what Scalia would have done and abide the Constitution's authorization of power to the sitting President to make this call.

I feel certain that with the cooperation of McConnell, things can proceed at a stately pace and manage to not come to a vote before February or March of 2017. This is, after all, one of the reasons the American people voted in a Republican Congress.

I am a conservative and haven't voted for a democrat except some local elections in the last twenty years. However, Wicker is dead wrong on this issue. Obama will nominate someone, probably someone that I will not like, and the Senate is obligated to carry out the process outlined in the Constitution. That doesn't mean they have to seat the nominee. Eventually Obama will send over a compromise nominee or his time will run out. But this foolish stance will gain nothing positive.

President Obama is going to nominate a right of center conservative judge. Someone who is known to have those leanings and try to use this as a wedge in battleground states to elect more Democrats (potentially retake the Senate) and to help either H. Clinton or B. Sanders in the general election.

The senate is not in session. Obama will executive power a justice, that will hold appointment until 2017, then depending on the election, a liberal, moderate or conservative appointee will go through the process.

The SCOTUS has a liberal bloc. They rarely break rank and vote similarly on most every issue. The other side has a much more varied set of jurists, with only Thomas as a solid, unwavering conservative. Funny how that works. We never have liberal justices turning conservative, but we have justices who were nominated by Republican presidents going moderately left (O'Connor) to full tilt liberal (Souter).

I really don't understand all this delay. If Oboma nominates another nut job just take a vote and say no. Submit another one. (Hint: Obomacare is not constitutional. Gay marriage, or marriage to a goat, or any marriage, is not a federal question, but a state question - if you follow the constitution.) If that one is a nut job, vote them down too. Keep doing that until he sends someone who will support the constitution or until his term expires. Just do your job. It is very simple.

If you are old enough to vote you should already know how it works. If you don't already know you should not be allowed to vote. Some of you probably still think there is a difference in a democrat and a republican.

However, I do hope that the voters realize in November that, despite all the Republican rhetoric about Reagan and consensus building, the Republicans are only interested in being obstructionist and holding fast to their party line. If the Republicans block a nomination, they should be punished in the polls.

The appropriate thing would be for Obama to appoint a more moderate liberal to the Court and for the Republican Senate to give a proper consideration of that nomination. I think that it is blatant and harmful partisan nonsense to state, before a nomination has been made, that all nominations will be blocked.

If you want people to take black folks seriously you need to stop playing the race card. The president has proven over and over and over the he is a flaming liberal, very many think a socialist.
