Does Lawyer Success bring success to Mississippi lawyers? Attorney Matthew Poole doesn't think so. The Jackson attorney sued James Greenier and his company, Lawyer Success, LLC in Hinds County Circuit Court last Monday. The complaint makes a few um, interesting allegations.
Mr. Greenier operates Lawyer Success, LLC. The company provides web-based marketing services to lawyers. One service is offering articles written by "multi-state licensed lawyer writers with real world legal experience." Mr. Poole claims that Mr. Greenier says that the articles are written by practicing Mississippi lawyers.
Mr. Poole alleges that the articles he paid for as part of the marketing services did not meet the minimum legal standard one would expect of an attorney. The articles allegedly did not provide "any state specific legal information". Mr. Poole allegedly contacted Mr. Greenier and confronted him with his suspicions. Here is where the lawsuit takes a turn for the crazy.
The plaintiff states that the threatened to sue if Mr. Greenier did not provide the name of the attorney who wrote the legal content he purchased for his website. The complaint states he also made the demands several times in writing. The complaint states that Mr. Greenier's response was to seek a peace bond against Mr. Poole as he falsely claimed "the plaintiff threatened he and his family".
The complaint then alleges "the defendant then threatened to come to Plaintiff's home and murder the Plaintiff if he filed suit and the commit suicide." No further statement is made about that accusation. Oddly enough, Mr. Poole appears in a video promoting Lawyer Success that still appears on the website.
Mr. Poole argues the marketing services were a "sham" and did not provide content written by a Mississippi-licensed attorney. He asked for compensatory and punitive damages. The case has been assigned to Judge Winston Kidd.

Ban all lawyer advertising. Ban all prescription drug advertising.
That pesky first amendment gets in the way a little bit, 1:50.
Sooooo glad I'm retired and out of that insane asylum known as practicing law in this day and age.
Good thing the demand has not caught up with the supply of lawyers.
